General Mulligans

You are mostly looking for Prep and Espionage very heavily, but keeping the other cards won’t hurt.

So for the Boomsday project, while I reviewed the cards, I really started to believe that the card Academic Espionage has some incredible potential, but I’m not completely sure, and will have to wait and see until the release. But this deck utilizes this card as well as Augmented Elekk and Fal’dorei Strider, as well as many card draw tools to achieve high board presence quickly and constantly. The goal is to make large minions and actions with your practically free cards to overwhelm the opponent.

Play style

This deck has two main combos. First is a turn one Academic Espionage using Preparation. This gives you around a 37% chance to draw a random card that is one cost now the next turn and the few other early turns of the game. The other combo is using Augmented Elekk on turn 3, and following up with either Academic Espionage or Fal’dorei Strider. Which makes your next turns huge tempo swings unless you get unlucky. Bad luck is one weakness of the deck as it does lack some consistency and does require some RNG to be successful, but I believe that the power should give you a winning deck.

Card Choices and Replacements

There are some cards that could have fit into this deck but I chose to leave out, and you can put in if you feel it is better.

Tess Greymane – Tess has great synergy with all of the cheap class cards you can get, but doesn’t really fit the play style of the deck. She can be added if you feel this needs more late game, or just for fun.

Eviscerate – This is a good cheap spell that helps with your auctioneer but I just seemed a little too expensive. I put in Loot Hoarder instead, and you should put in Bloodmage Thalnos if you have the card (I don’t)

2nd Sprint – If you feel you aren’t drawing enough or are not getting lucky, put in a second sprint for a more consistent draw

Leeroy Jenkins – Leeroy is a great finisher, but the problem is that when you are shuffling so many cards into your deck, he can’t be drawn too often.

Guide

The play style of the deck will mostly be the same against all other decks. First try to fulfill one of the combos of the deck. Then keep the opponent at bay if they are aggressive, and just try to draw as many cards as you can. Shadowstep  is best on Elven Minstrel so just try to draw and rush down your opponent. Against aggressive decks, if you don’t prep espionage, try to clear their board as much as possible before you can get the Elekk on the board.

Enjoy!
