Datamined Legendary Quests from “Spirit of Competition” (Hearthstone’s 6th Birthday) Event – 16 Packs in Total + Card Back

New patch just launched, and it added a lot of data to the game’s client. Since Hearthstone’s turning 6 very soon, a commemorative event starts on March 4. You will have a bunch of log-in rewards, special Tavern Brawl as well as a Legendary Quest line. While Blizzard didn’t announce the specific Quests, they are already in game files! Keep in mind, however, that datamining is not always accurate. They might always make some last minute changes to the Quests.

Legendary Quests

Here’s the list of datamined Legendary Quests:

  • The Spirit of Competition (#1) – Play 2 games in any mode. (1x DoD Card Pack)
  • The Spirit of Competition (#2) – Play 20 cards in any mode. (1x RoS + 1x SoU Card Packs)
  • The Spirit of Competition (#3) – Take 30 turns in any mode. (1x RoS + 1x SoU Card Packs)
  • The Spirit of Competition (#4) – Draw 30 cards in any mode. (1x RoS + 1x SoU Card Packs)
  • The Spirit of Competition (#5) – Play 2 games in any mode. (1x SoU Card Pack)
  • The Spirit of Competition (#6) – Play 10 spells in any mode. (1x RoS + 1x DoD Card Packs)

Assuming players will get all of them, Quests award a total of 10 card packs. If we add the packs you will get as a log-in reward, that’s 16 card packs in total + a Card Back.

  • 6x Rise of Shadows Card Pack
  • 6x Saviors of Uldum Card Pack
  • 4x Descent of Dragons Card Pack
  • 1x Year of the Dragon Card Back (sorry for the confusion, it’s card BACK not PACK lol)

“Not Used Quests”

There are also three Quests which are tagged “not used”. It probably means that they won’t be used (duh). But who knows? They give 5x card pack in total (although one of them is Boomsday card pack, which is weird), and obviously players wouldn’t mind getting them after all. But I don’t think that will happen.

Either way, 17 packs in total is quite a lot of freebies – it will surely be a nice Birthday celebration!

Apparently, Blizzard changes it’s Mage Packs to Standard Year cards (it was DoD cards earlier).
So, if you had already bought the packs, too bad. The value has been reduced since half of those cards is rotating out soon.

I really don’t like how Blizzard behave like that. Testing the water with new packs and changing their statements like there’s no impact whatsoever.
It would have been good if those packs can be bought more than once to get at least the pity timer.

I think the pack was giving you cards from all Standard expansions to begin with. They just put the wrong description on the blog post early. In the patch notes we’ve got shortly before the release, it was also saying Year of the Dragon, so I guess that was their plan before.

But I agree, I’m sure that many people who bought it thought that it’s only Year of the Dragon. Heck, if I didn’t check the patch notes again (or didn’t read the comments) I would have thought so too. I just updated the ones on our site.

I’m happy that they’re introducing Class Packs, because it’s a good idea. But I’m not happy that they’re changing ninja editing things like that AND that the packs are such low value for $10. Even Year of the Dragon cards were a hard sell, but Year of the Raven cards are nearly useless for someone who only plays Standard (and that’s most of the players) since they rotate out in ~1.5 months.

or wait to open them in 2 months later? They did said standard year cards. But can you hold that packs for that long? And yes, I still think it’s a Rip-offs.
Not to mention the chance if by some reasons they don’t update the Mage packs to include new expansion cards, then that is totally suck.

They specify all the expansions from current Standard year in the description, so it’s hard to say.

Still, buying packs to open them 2 months later would feel terrible :/

I honestly wouldn’t mind getting cards from Year of the Raven if not for the cost. If we got 10 packs for the price, then it would be fine.

What does it mean by “year of the dragon card pack”?
