One of the reddit users (/u/Reptile27) found an interesting card added to official Forged in the Barrens press kit – Charged Stormhide, then it spread online to other social media. The most common theory was that the card was meant to be a part of Forged in the Barrens expansion, but got scrapped before the expansion’s release. Others have speculated that it might be a card coming in the mini-set, or that dev team decided to make it a Battlegrounds card instead.
However, game designer Alec Dawson has quickly clarified that indeed, it’s a real card, but it was removed from the set before release because they were one card over a limit and had to cut something. He also said that they might reuse the artwork somewhere in the future:
We were 1 card over leading up to the final weeks of Forged in the Barrens, this guy didn’t make the cut. Tend to pull back on the “feel bad for attacking into this minion” styled cards, so it’s harder for them to have a home. Cool art piece though, we’ll probably use it in another game mode down the line!
The card has been already removed from the press kit (it’s hard to say how it got there in the first place), but it’s still cool to get a glimpse of a card that could very well be a part of the set. And yeah, I also hope that they will re-use that artwork somewhere since it looks cool.
