Zephrys the Great Additional Information
Zephrys always tries to give you three best cards that fit your situation. However, he will only pick from Basic & Classic cards and he will only look at the information available to BOTH players. So he looks at the board state, number of cards in each player’s hand, available mana, Health, whether there are Secrets on board or not, number of cards left in the deck etc. And depending on that, he’ll try to pick the perfect card for situation. For example – if your opponent has multiple minions, he’ll try to offer you an AoE (and preferably one that can kill most of them and one that you can cast immediately). If your opponent is very low, he’ll offer a burn card. If you’re very low, he’ll give you some healing as one of the options. If your both boards are emtpy, he’ll try to give you something to get ahead etc. If you don’t really “need” anything based on the information he has, then he’ll try to give you a generic good card to curve out with (e.g. if it’s Turn 4, he’ll try to give you a solid 5-drop).
But he WON’T see your hand when making a decision, if you want to influence it you need to play something first. The most simple example would be opponent being at 12 health and you having Fireball in your hand. If you play Zephrys, he might not offer you a second Fireball, because he does not know that you have one in your hand. But if you play your Fireball FIRST, then you’ll get another one from him for lethal.
I play Tip the Scales and pull my Warleaders
Cross my fingers and pray to RNJesus

I hate you, Zephyrus
I hate this card so much, he ruins every good game that was ever otherwise fair.
It’s about time he gets a nerfing, but not a 3 mana nerfing, something harsher
Nerf to a 2/2 for 3 would make me happy. I’m just tired of T10 Zeph plus Nether.
One of the best cards in Hearthstone ever. Even if not the best.
Looks like a nice addition for my Reno’Thun priest. Because more win cons are always welcome
I’m surprised how well this works, maybe blizzard spent most of their time on this card and that’s why most other cards are either garbage or GODS
One thing I’m interested is if it can give you a Lethal card.
For example, my opponent is at 6 health, I play this on turn 10, will it know I need Fireball?
For sure
Yes, it will try to give you lethal! And not only the simple ones like Fireball. He can try to give you Silence for your minions to get through a Taunt and kill the opponent, or Bloodlust for example to push the remaining extra damage.
Ok good now we need to figure out a way to manipulate the AI to get Dr. boom every time
It only gives classic cards
Ok good now we need to figure out a way to manipulate the AI to think Dr. boom is a classic card.
No thanks we need to get ai to think Lich King is a classic card.
Lich King doesn’t give all your minions Rush.
Lich King doesn’t doesn’t allow you to discover multiple Omega Defenders.
Lich King doesn’t give you 2 mana gain 7 armor
But Lich King can be removed if attacked or by a single spell.
We need the ki to think dk guldan is classic
It wasn’t specified which Dr. Boom there’s the minion and the there’s the hero.
And if you want to consider heros Dr. Boom isn’t as broken as some others were only mech type minions gained rush so saying all is idiotic. Also the hero power cycled randomly with no specific order you can even go 8 turns without seeing a specific power. That means chances of getting the mech generator are not that great as well as it being random mechs so you may not get the one you want.
Frost lich Jaina, Deathstalker Rexxar, and guldan are rather higher rated.
Jaina generates a minion when HP kills and ALL elementals even if silence restores health when do dmg. Deathstalker allows making a minion every turn so you don’t get stuck unable to play something. And guldan has 3 dmg lifesteal as a HP which even had an OTK combo made with it. Dr. Boom is just the current best hero due to mech synergy but if you pulled from this card you probably won’t have a deck full of mechs so it’s rather bad.
That makes the card, pretty bad tbh…. Or rather, it makes it highlander decks only…. If it was all standard cards…. It could fit even a Mech C’thun deck…. XD
Play it on turn 6 with a bunch of mechs in your hand. XD
What card are you refering too
This effect is good enough to make a singleton deck of any class. Depending on the intelligence of the AI, this could seriously be a powerful play for any class in early, mid, or late game.
Nope it’s not. And tbh I only have hopes for some kind of Quest mage that makes this work. It might end up in a control warrior deck though, and get’s played when he drew most of his deck…
I really don’t think you truly understand the implications of this card. If you are a few damage off lethal, it will give you that damage to finish. If you are overwhelmed on the board, it will give you the full board clear. If you have board advantage and they drop a taunt, it will give you a good single target removal.
Wishing for the perfect card based on an intelligent AI is going to shake up the meta. And I still believe that it won’t only be hero class singleton decks that stand out.
Plus, many classes have ways of bouncing this boy back into your hand, meaning you have several opportunities to receive the perfect card.
Also you saying that control warrior would use this is at the end of its deck is…. naive.
He definitely didn’t understand the card. We’ve been seeing it get played at the blizzard event and it is insane. The amount of work that went into this card is crazy and it shows. Amazing card, 6/5.
I do understand the card. The problem lies in the DECK in order to make the card work. I mean it’s stronger then Kazakus. But the deck needs to WORK against TOP TIER DECKS.
I have seen the card in action now, and yes it’s strong. BUT it’s just ONE card. And your entire deck will be single cards. So it’s such a HIGH ROLL deck your playing. And seriously dont judge decks because they look strong in early acces stream video’s. Their not facing against Tier 1 decks. On top of it, it’s mostly TURTLE decks being played. So yes when up against a turtle deck, you have all the time in the world to draw this card.
The most agressive deck in the stream seems to be battle-cry shaman and that’s really slow. I did see trump face against a Quest warrior, but It was to slow, that deck needs to be way more agressive Smorc deck for it to work. Cards like Battle rage, lol, who gives a fuck about card draw if you can make 2x 4-3 for 4 mana…
If you play quest warrior and your not in top deck mode when you complete the quest, your doing it wrong. XD (well maybe down to 2 cards I guess…) But on the stream I see quest warriors with whole hands filled with cards.
Hearthstone is a game all about strategy and outwitting your opponent
aI is a good player, no?
This is only as good as the best class highlander card. I doubt there will be a highlander deck that plays highlander only for this card and the other highlander cards are pretty bad. Great card, but I doubt it will get the succesful deck it deserves this expansion.
It’s a Really cool card, but I just need to see how It’s Actually played. I’d Believe works like Karzkus, but without the whole Potion idea, and It gives you something from Classic and Basics cards instead. Pulling out a Flame strike or an Explosive Trap, however, is Really nice though. 4 Stars.
Yup this is an auto include for an RNG Reno mage deck looks like fun. Puzzle Box + Yogg + deck of wonders, etc…
100% depends on how good the AI is. Best case scenario, could be an auto-craft for my Renolock.
Worth it regardless. 2 mana 3/2 draw a card is disgusting. Renolock has draw but this is still worth adding in imho. This is 100% in my Reno Mage day 1, it’s just an amazing 2 drop and depending on ai a tutor + resource generator.
This must be a coding nightmare
That was my first thought when it was explained.
imagine the chaos if you get shudderwock involved
think about infinite shudderwock with this in wild is making me nut so hard rn.
honestly i think that would be irrelevant at that point
once you get a 1 cos copy into your hand youve pretty much won the match if your deck is designed for it
You misunderstand good sir. At a certain point winning is not enough. Imagine a perfect scenario where your opponent big priest cries as you play your 60th Shudderwock and the A.i. gives you the perfect final card, Deathwing. Your opponent then cries and concedes as you play your last pathetic card to mill your entire hand and reveal that a hand full of 9 Millhouse
Manastorms rear-ended your opponent out of existence. God I hate big priest sometimes.
So does he gives you 3 cards or a card with 3 effects?
It gives you three cards (chosen from basic and classic) to best fit your situation. In the reveal stream, in turn 2 it gave Kibler animal companion, wild growth, and brightwing. When he was against a full board, it gave him two board wipes and a taunt minion to choose from.
3 mana wild growth perfect card Kappa
Kazakus pog
Such implications and possibilities. Can’t wait to lose to Bomb Warrior with this!
Because Bomb Warrior will definitely run this …
I said lose to. Bomb Warrior counters it.
yeah, the wording was just ambiguous.
Or do you mean you will lose against Bomb Warrior if you play this card yourself?
That makes more sense because Bomb Warrior counters all Singleton Decks.
Unless it is smart enough to give you cards like Elysiana or Tracking to counter bombs. But that is something that a) is very unlikely and b) wont save you from bomb warrior most of the time.
You don’t get it, the bombs will make the deck have duplicates.
You’re right, my bad.
These “Casts when drawn” spells have so strange interactions…
