This is like murkspark eel except the condition is much more favorable
3 mana 3/3 deal 3 is insane, especially considering how good murkspark was at a 2 mana 2/3 deal 2. The requirement of having a lackey won’t be that hard if you play it on the same turn or have many on the board with multiple generators. Goes extremely well with the quest for essentially a fireball for 3. 4/5
member SI:7 Agent? it comes back in for of shaman
Cool, an nconsistent Murkspark Eel
Seems good, might not be consistent enough if we don’t get more lackey gens
Stats are slightly below something like Nightmare Amalgam, but you’re not too sad playing this as a 3 mana 3/3 on curve. It sounds like it could be broken in a battlecry shudderwock deck, but it’s not because it’s just as likely to hit your own face or minions as anything else when replayed by Shudderwock.
The battlecry is fairly hard to trigger, but strong and very versatile. You need to generate a lackey first, then you need to have that lackey on the board and then play this. You can achieve that by playing both the lackey and this on the same turn, but that can feel bad too if you’re doing something like playing Witchy Lackey on an empty board into Weaponized Wasp. Shaman also doesn’t have Shadowstep, so you can’t hope to emulate what Rogue does with Spirit of the Shark, Lifedrinker and Shadowstep.
I’m not impressed, but the video that announced this card promised more support for lackey-centric Shaman and Warlock deck archetypes, so I’ll trust that promise and give this 4/5
Hey look, Shaman Flanking Strike, but arguably better. I would honestly be really surprised if this doesn’t see play. Lackey Shaman is going to clean house in this next expansion. 5/5
Hey, remember when bomb warrior got introduced and they nay-sayers were like “yeah but they would have to draw through to it to get the damage, its gonna be too slow.”
I welcome you to my domain!
Its not about the turn 3 play, its about that sweet quest complete 3 cost FIREBALL that summons a 3/3.
Actually it’s 6 cost you need a lackey out and to use the hero power. Which could make it a 6 cost 8 dmg with a 3/3, and a 1/1, 6 dmg with 3/3 1/1 and 2 2 cost minions or maybe 6 dmg 3/3 1/1 with 2 spells. The other Lackeys are useless without a minion on the board. This card likely won’t see play till turn 4 or later since Lackeys will be targeted when facing shamans now.
So basically it can make an impact soon as it hits the board unlike the bomb warrior 3 drop but you can’t make use of it on it’s own otherwise it’s just a 3/3. So basically this is a more limited card since it’s useless without a specific card in your hand or on the field. This would also limit shamans since they would want to try to keep at least one lackey in the hand at all times.
Why do you think holding a lackey is so restrictive. Everyone’s acting like heist baron never saw play but its run all the damn time. I mean your still trying to play it early and its clearly the guillotine for battlecry shaman. This is your finishing move not your opening salvo. What im saying is, IT CAN HIT FACE!!!!
Shaman already has bored clear, a LOT of it. This should never be shooting a minion. Youve got Scheme, Earthquake, some random plague card, and lightning storm. Why would you ever even consider their board? This is Lifedrinker, Wasp, Shudderwok machine-gun. Roll those dice!
P.S. – Shudder conveniently costs 9 mana, just enough to squeeze in a lackey so he can fire, fire, fire.
Shudder would be random targets so he could fire fire fire at your face life drinkers bypasses it since it says hits enemy hero.
The bit with holding lackey is because depending on what the lackey is, holding it in your hand for who knows how long until you draw this card is something to consider.
On the matter of heist baron unlike shaman rogue has several ways to kick a lackey back to the hand for replay and they only need 1 to use with baron. This card can have 2 copies in the deck meaning at possibly 2 separate times you need to have a lackey available. This is more restricting than rogues only needing one to drop with a legendary. Also due to the quest some shamans will be wanting to finish it as soon as possible and the Lackeys are a cheap way of doing that.
Is there any news on the Uldum Lackeys yet? Will they still be 1 mana 1/1 or will they be 2 mana 2/2 (and 3 mana 3/3 in the next set)? That would change the perspective quite a lot. Like this 4/5, different costed lackeys 3/5
Kind of clunky. If you’re playing quest, you can’t get this out until turn 4 at the earliest, as all Lackey-generators either cost 2 overall mana or come out even later than that. But in the late game, this gives a lot of value to the hero power. You can HP- Lifedrinker-Kobold Lackey-This for 10 mana and 16 face damage. And you can potentially do this twice later! This is pretty good but it’s worse than Medivh’s Valet by just a little bit.
Oh goodie battlecry shaman gets better and look at that 9 Mana bring on the pain. 2 cost quest HP 1 cost any lackey then play this 2x for 12 dmg possibly 16 with certain lackey.
It’s a pseudo “4 Mana 3/3 “Summon a 1/1 that give off a Lackey Battlecry and Deals 3 Damage”, but I don’t want that Technical stuff. But yeah, pretty much other than Big Shaman and maybe some Shudderwock decks here and there, this is a guarantee. Dosn’t matter if your Murloc, or Midrange, You’ll get this card, if you want to win more.
A little trickier to use than I think people are giving it credit for – you’ll usually have to wait until T4, making this a conditional, aim-able Lifedrinker without the healing. I’m not convinced on the new totem as a consistent lackey generator, either. Most Shaman decks run 2x Sludge Slurper but is that enough to enable this? Will Cable Rat be worth using to synergize with this?
But yes, it’s a promising card for sure. Though most Shaman decks have lackeys, you really wanna run this alongside the quest, it’s perfect both to finish the quest and easy/effective to weave alongside the hero power once it’s complete. This is the exact sort of card I was hoping they’d print to make the quest worth it.
I think Evil rat will make it in the quest variant as an easy 2/6 quest progress on a relatively reasonable standalone card. Whatever quest shaman is viable on the other hand
We already know how good are Medivh’s Valet and Murkspark Eal…
Medivhs valet was by far superior if you had ice block secret. Unless your opponent had a card to kill secrets you would be able to drop it at any time. Murkspark did 1 less dmg and required an even only deck which priests could interfere with.
BROOOKEN
This card is really good, forward to see lackey quest shaman.
