    I am still searching on the downside of this card. Solid stats infinity value. Even if the opp has spellbreaker (in the worse case) you get a 7/5 against a 4/3 for 1 mana more which is awesome.

    You’d want to be able to trigger the deathrattle in same turn to keep people from morphing so probably get a necrium blade ready before. Overall it’s a good card and one thought if combo with Tak nozzwhisker on a death you could get copy of candle spell to hand which may be playable with archmage vargoth.

    As it reads the candles do NOT draw you another card as other cast when drawn cards, or am I missing something?

      Cast when drawn means iT also draws a card, look at scroll of wonders

        Thanks you are probably right. For some reason i thought that cast when drawn cards read “then draw a card” at the end lol

      candle rogue OP OP add in 2 fal forei striders to boot and finish off with shadow of death and boom we have a garbage meme deck.

    Rogues have never been to control because although there are insane control cards, in theory, Academic espionage to elysiana. They have good removal like eviscerate and sap. They dont have any board clears. A card like waxadred which constantly is a threat throughout the game. Too fight back for board control. Also a deathrattle rogue with necrium vial and blade could cheat out more waxadred. A dragon rogue maybe possible with breath. Not to mention rogue has a near dr Boom hero power with galakrond a random lackey every turn is better than dr boom. Although rogue has good control tools, they need a clear in order for all this to work value rogue needs clears which blizzard took away

    These type of cards (sherazim, malone, etc) had one weakness. It was them doing nothing on the turn they were played. The stats of the cards didnt match the mana Cost too. But this has prime stats for a 5 mana card andddd you dont need to pay the mana Cost again. Im not even talking about the togwaggle’s scheme sheninagns too. Im not too sure about 5 stats but it definitely deserves 4.5/5

    You could Argue that Although N’Zoth will no Longer be there, we can now have use for Togwaggle’s Scheme or even Shuffle Rouge to be a thing. It’s just that we need to work around Waxdred at first. Shuffle Rouge is going to be VERY Interesting because Waxadred with the help of copy cards is going to be the next Fal’Dorei Strider. And we all knew how annoying that card was back then. 4 Stars, just because I see the Wax-a-Deck / Waxa / Wax Rouge is going to be a bit too slow at first.

    isn’t Myra’s plus this just great? You could put in Nomi for increased consistency? E.g. play Waxadred first, get some value, use up the oppo’s removal & resources and then drop Nomi?

    It might not stand out in a deck by itself but it’s a 5 mana 7/5 that comes back for free later in the game. Those stats are pretty scary for something like this (compare it to something like Sherazin, Corpse flower. The only problem is that the class this is on is Rogue which struggles to play stuff like this. I could still see this being played in some mid-range deck though. Anka, The buried also has an interesting synergy with this.

    As a side note I can totally see this being a fun meme deck with Shadow of Death and the ridiculous card drawing Rogue has now.

    So overall a fun card, maybe not what rogue needs but eh it’s not the worst at least. 3.5/

    The card is very cool, but it is in a weird spot for rogue. It’s infinite value in theory, and in a fatigue scenario is like a dread steed, but rogue doesn’t really have a fatigue control deck that tries to out value the opponent. Dragon rogue is more a dream than anything else, since the playstile required for dragons is much slower on tempo than the normal playstile of rogue. Rouge is pure tempo and control rogue never existed, and this card seems just a nice bonus for an archetype that doesn’t exist yet. Since a lot of rogue cards are already for Galakrond, there’s not enough space in the expansion to really support the archetype as it stands right now. Maybe in the future it will find play in a slower build, but right now is far too slow.

    Little old me back at making very complex reviews for all my dear Rogue colleagues.

    I like the idea behind the card a lot. A candle dragon actually sounds pretty amazing. Gameplay-wise, I’m not so sure about the effect. It does have more strong points than weak points ; it costs only 5-mana and therefore avoids falling into the high mana cost category that Rogue is better off avoiding due to their playstyle, it has a very good attack stat though it is quite frail, it’s a dragon, and it has a Deathrattle that basically lets you abuse it for free after you’ve played it once, but it’s draw-based and therefore relies on luck to at least some degree.

    Whether this could work or not will depend a lot on its support, but it looks pretty good on its own. It’s just… in a weird spot, I’d say. So far we cannot tell yet if Rogue is going to have significant Dragon support. If Rogue does get good dragon synergy, or at least some degree of it, the dragon tag on this beauty might support Rogue’s Dragon-related cards, but the card wasn’t designed to support that a lot either, since most of its value is provided out of the hand and therefore will only trigger hand-related synergies (given the fact that most Dragon synergies seem to work that way) before it is put into play. Overall its effect doesn’t seem to be a strong support for a hypothetical Dragon Rogue, but the Dragon tag could be a nice bonus if Rogue does get interesting Dragon synergies.

    I do think the card has its perks without them, but I think Waxadred truly shines with Deathrattle support. It seems obvious but so far, despite having good tools, this archetype hasn’t seen a lot of success since it lacked enough good Deathrattle minions to support it. This might be another piece that would fit nicely into that puzzle. Even though I wouldn’t count on a Necrium Vial combo since 4-Health isn’t designed to survive a full turn, Necrium Blade comes to mind to double the consistency of drawing Waxadred’s Candle, and that’s only to mention one (the best, but still) of the potential Deathrattle synergies Rogue could use with this.

    Overall, I’m not so sure about its performance since despite being a Dragon, it does not seem to heavily support a Dragon-based deck, and Rogue doesn’t seem like it will be the class that will get the most out of those synergies anyway in this expansion. Therefore, I think this dragon will be more relevant to a Deathrattle deck, or even a Shuffle one maybe, rather than a Dragon one.
    We can still hope that maybe we will get a stronger Dragon synergy that’s going to make this even better, but I wouldn’t count too much on it.

    I give it 4/5 so far, the effect is interesting and threatening for the opponent, and the card has a lot of perks with a few weaknesses except being slow, but its strongest flaw is that it is luck-based. If we get cards that directly support this however, Waxadred might become an important piece of a Deathrattle or Dragon Rogue, who knows ?

    PS – also it works well with Gral, thought I’d point that out. Rogue has few big minions, and this is a rather big one, plus the fact that Gral has some degree of synergy with Deathrattle, Gral could get a little better if a Deathrattle deck that has more big minions makes it through the meta this expansion.

    I feel like giving it 4/5, strong potential but few obvious synergies at the moment.
    Might become 5/5 if it supports a viable archetype or gets other cards that make it more consistent, or derive great advantage from its Dragon tag.

    Time will tell. Regardless of how viable it will be, I love how it looks.

          Except you don’t last usually to turn 10 in wild, it’s way too combo heavy, they should make a separate format where they put combo cards in so wild won’t be such a mess

      Necrium Vial, Necrium Blade, add togwaggle I guess. Still going to see Plague of Murlocs/Death despite how awful it is, but other than Plagues it isn’t imposible to cheat fatigue without Elysiana. I would still try not to fatigue as rogue. Comboing hard and fast tends to run better.
