I like the entire Magnetic mechanic. Just like with any other Magnetic card, you can look at this one in two ways. It’s a 5 mana 5/5 Mech minion, or a 5 mana spell that gives your Mech +5/+5. Either of those would be underwhelming by itself. However, let’s not forget how strong flexibility is. “Choose One” cards usually have two sub-optimal options, and yet they have seen a solid share of play, simply because they can do two things.

Wargear definitely won’t see any play outside of Mech decks. If you can’t utilize its Magnetic mechanic, then it’s just a vanilla 5/5 for 5, even worse than Pit Fighter, which obviously has seen zero Constructed play. However, if you play a dedicated Mech deck, most of your minions are Mechs and you can utilize the Magnetic part, then that’s another story.

In Hearthstone, buff cards have their obvious upsides and downsides. The upside is that if you buff a minion that can attack immediately, the extra stats gain a sort of “charge” – you can utilize them immediately, to trade up or to deal more damage. However, one of the biggest downsides is that they often end up being clunky if you can’t stick a minion. Sure, you can play a small body and buff it immediately, but then you get 2 for 1’d if it gets removed, and the minions is susceptible to Silence. And that’s where a card like that comes into action. If you have a minion, which can attack immediately, you can use it as a +5/+5 buff. But if you don’t – nothing prevents you from dropping it as a 5/5 minion. Sure, it’s not great, but it’s better than being a dead card in hand.

This card’s playability completely depends on how strong the Mech decks will be. If a Midrange/Tempo Mech builds pop out, there is a solid chance that this will be played. Of course, unless other, better options pop out by the time expansion is released. The card also looks juicy in any Mech deck that wants to run Spiteful Summoner. Minions that can “imitate” spells are way better if you can’t play the regular spells. I feel like even after the nerf, Spiteful is not completely out of the game yet and we might see it making a comeback.

    Probably the next Scalebane. Ish. Doesn’t look like much but gets the job done. Strong addition to every mech deck

    It’s ok. I agree with the fact that the flexibility magnetics bring is severely underrated, but this is simply just alright. It is decent buffs but not great stats. If we’re being fair though, a mistake I see a lot is playing a 4 mana cost card with a better effect and ok stats that doesn’t necessarily fit your deck because “it’s hypothetically better” as a 4 drop when your curve really could use the small extra damage of an ok 5 drop that fits. As a mech/magnetic it has decent synergies

    I’ve given it a 4* rating … I think people are underestimating the flexibility of the Magnetic keyword. One way to screw with buff decks, especially paladin, is to control the board ensuring they’ve got no targets to buff – in that situation Blessing of Kings _can_ be as terrible as a 6 mana 5/5 as you have to summon a Silver Hand Recruit to buff (granted, that’s an absolute worst case scenario).

    A Magnetic card will never have that problem; instead of being stuck with an empty board and a couple of buffs in your hand you’ve got the option of either a couple of Minions OR a single buffed minion depending on who you’re playing against.

    … and that’s another point of flexibility; a buff card is always a buff card. If your opponent is likely to run Hex, Polymorph or Silence in some form you’ve got the option *not* to buff an existing minion but to play a new one instead – it might not be as powerful but you’re spreading the risk out, which could be advantageous in some situations.

    Pretty good. Neutral blessing of kings with a downside. And I guess an upside in the sense that you can play it as a 5/5.

    4/5 rating should be good

    Very stong buff card. If Blessing of Kings was a neutral spell, it would see play in at least most minion based decks. This is essentially that for Mechs but comes with the extra versatility of also being a minion. On an empty board, there are worse things to play than a 5 mana 5/5.
    Wargear will be used mostly as a buff spell, but the versatility of card pushes it over the edge of play-ability assuming Mechs are at all competitive.

    5mana +5+5 is stronger than Blessing of Kings (because we know that 2mana +2+2 < 3mana +3+3 < bok)
    so if you have a mech this is a stronger bok
    and if you don't have a mech you can still play a 5mana 5/5

    in an aggressive mech deck it's very strong

      That logic doesn’t always apply, after a while it becomes worse again as a value card, and then it becomes better as a finisher (like how pyro and dinosize are worse then fireball and BoK, but become good again for pushing lethal when your deck goes face a lot). The peak efficiency for value and tempo is around 4/5 and then it tapers off. I’d argue Kings is a bit better. After a certain mana cost the tempo gain is outweighed by how much it sucks to get hard removed.

        I know Zalae said that but he’s just wrong, he didn’t think this through.
        “and then it becomes better as a finisher” You make it look like there is a certain manacost at which getting more dmg for more mana starts to be good.
        That’s not true, because getting more dmg for more mana is always good.
        1mana 1/1 > 2mana 2/1 > 3mana 3/1, yet wolfrider is stronger than bluegil which is stronger than stonetusk. Why? Because scaling up direct damage makes a card better. Even at 1mana, it’s already true.
        Dark bomb deals 3 for 2, it’s meh, fireball deals twice as much for twice as much, and it’s OP. Why? Because scaling up direct damage makes a card better.

        5mana +5+5 is NOT more suscptible to hard removal than 4mana +4+4, because it does more dmg regardless of being hard removed or not. Hex doesn’t matter when your opponent is dead.

    This is only useful as a buff, since vanilla 5 mana 5/5 is horrible. Might be necessary if a mech/magnetic deck can be built, just to add more consistency. 2/5 stars.

      It doesn’t work like that. A vanilla 5 mana 5/5 is horrible to put into your deck. But there are gameplay situations in which it is much better than 5 mana +5/+5. Like when you topdeck it with an empty board, or you play against an opponent with a lot of hard removal and little or no AoE. Just because a 5 mana 5/5 is bad as a card to put in your deck, does NOT mean it is always bad to play a 5 mana 5/5.

    3/5, maybe okay arena card. It’s essentially either a 5 mana spell to give a mech +5/+5 (very similar to blessing of kings) or it’s a 5 mana 5/5 mech. Honestly it might not even be worth 3 stars, I can’t think of where this card might see play, since cards like blessing of kings aren’t seeing any play at all either.

      Yeah, a 5 mana 5/5 is so bad. Definitely doesn’t have decent synergies, decent stats.

      Blessing of Kings sees play in many, many midrange decks in Paladin that are not Odd Paladin. Its synergy with Vicious Scalehide is actually incredibly good.

        Magnetic only works with Mech cards. Will not work with Beasts.

          I was saying that Blessing of Kings synergizes very well with Vicious Scalehide. Obviously this does not, but let’s wait for all mechs to be revealed. A +5/+5 buff for 5 mana may actually be good in a mainly mech deck.

      Blessing of Kings isn’t seeing play because the only paladin deck you see is odd paladin obviously.
      did you already forget, like, the whole history of hearthstone? bok is a great card and except in control (and odd), it’s pretty much a staple.
