I feel like this card is getting a lot of flak because it is compared to Deadly Shot even though that comparison isn’the really fair. Many classes have different synergies thus making different cards more valuable for one and less valuable for the other. For insfance, look at the two cards Arcane Shot and Holy Smite, they both have the exact same stats and effects yet Holy Smite has a far higher rating and sees more play. Why is that? Simply because Priest has more cards that synergizes and compliments spells like Holy Smite while Hunter does not. Something similar is happening here with Unwilling Sacrifice and Deadly Shot, where Warlocks already have many AoE cards capable of clearing your opponents boards of small weeny minions to make it more likely to get a big and strong minion from this card. To com0ensate Blizzard required this spell to kill a minions, and since Warlock has many ways to create small, weeny 1/1s to sacrifice, ensure that it is beneficial this minion dies, or otherwise ensure your opponent loses a powerful minions I feel this card could see play
Not to mention that it would be decent in Warlock vs Warlock games to counter Treachery and Corruption.
Requires you to play eggs as Warlock lacks any good Deathrattles, and I don’t think that’s nearly good enough.
Abysmal card.
“Jaraxxu Ackbar!” *BOOM*
The dinosaur egg just got a whole lot better.
We already have siphon soul
One word, deathrattle
Wouldn’t this work really well with the eggs decks. For example cards such as Nerubian egg, Runic egg, and devilsaur egg. I know that warlock decks with the eggs already have ravenous pterrordax and void terror to help. But this card gives a 3rd option to help sacrifice those eggs. Although it is considerably weaker, especially with hunter having deadly shot. This deck might work if people are willing to try it.
There is a small typo in the card text, it says “minions”.
2/5
Shadowbolt has no conditions and no randomness. This would only be good vs 5+ health minions.
If you have no minions on board as zoolock you lose, if you do you could just shadowbolt + trade one minion for 5+ guaranteed damage. If shadowbolt isn’t used in zoo i don’t see how this card will
a worst deadly shot
I was thinking the same thing. Deadly Shot is a 3 cost without having to sacrifice. This should cost 2 or less.
Dark bomb was worse than frost bolt but warlocks ran that card anyways, simply put because low cost removal and or face damage is way better in warlock in general due to their high tempo playstyle in general.
I mostly agree! But there are a few ways this is better the deady shot!
If you hit the 0/3 egg or 0/2 egg in wild It’s better then deadly shot, you want thouse Cards dead!
Warlock now have many cards that kill there own minions so if there are more eggs or some other good card that you want dead to gain somthing, this could be good at some point!
This card is terrible. I get it’s warlock so underpowered a little but this is awful. If you’re sacrificing a minion it should at least not be random or it should cost less.
RANDOM RANDOM RANDOM RANDOM RANDOM… this extension randomness is too much, Blizzard. There is just POOR strategy that come from random shit.
Think it’s pretty consistent with the game overall
Would the spell fully resolve before Deathrattles are taken into account – or does Deathrattle work like an interrupt?
Say the opponent has a load of minions including Sylvanus – and you play Sylvanus and Sacrifice her.
If the spell fully resolves before the Deathrattles and destroys your opponent’s Sylvanus then both Sylvanus’s should die, your opponent’s Sylvanus should trigger her Deathrattle first (as she was played before yours) but there would be nothing for her to steal – your Sylvanus’s Deathrattle would then steal an opponent’s minion.
However, if Deathrattle works like an interrupt, your Sylvanus would die and trigger her Deathrattle – potentially stealing your opponent’s Sylvanus before she could be destroyed…
First and foremost the name is not “Sylvanus”
Reading that like 7 times realy hurts the eyes O.o
Makes me wonder why you want to know about this interaction since you probably don’t have the card.
But on topic:
Since you sacrifice your minion to activate the spell it is likely that the spell will work before the deathrattle does. So “SYLVANAS” deathrattle shouldn’t pull anything and you get a minion.
She’s an a***hole – so, yes, it is SylvANUS as far as I’m concerned; has been since WC3 😛
It’s Sylvanas omg…
… as an aside – I did a little testing with Shadowflame; the spell resolves before the Deathrattle triggers – nothing gets stolen that would die to the spells effect.
However since Deathrattles resolve in the order that the cards were dropped on the board she can steal minions spawned when the Deathrattle triggers – like the 2/2 Slime from Infested Tauren.
overconditioned
I think its overcosted. The effect is good specially in warlock but why 3 mana? Deadly shot is 3 mana and has no further downsides except being random.
This should either 2 mana or without rng in my Opinion without playing the card.
I dont rly think this will be played in standard (wild maybe becuase of nerubian egg). Zoo needs more thinks to work and you have shadow bolt in the same slot.
why is this random? ???
This might be a good card for zoo – despite being worse than deadly shot for the same mana cost and deadly shot being a common card – but it really is not innovative at all. Warlock always has to sacrifice cards, health, minions or both of the latter to get not so powerful effects whilst it is shaman having the overstatted minions and mage having the card advantage by just dropping a board clear spell or a target removal potentially creating huge card or just value advantage.
“Unwilling” I’m imagining a warlock throwing an imp charged with explosives to another creature. LOL.
It can be used with eggs and deathrattle minions so may have future in zoolock
I think its overrated. Deadly shot is good, but a deadly shot plus a sacrifice, meh okay. 7/10
Seems ok like deadly shot just with sacrifice
must have for zoo i think
