This is a direct counter to the overpowered Warlock Legendary.

Let’s assume you make a deck without spells, even then this card becomes completely useless after a psychic scream.

Hunters getting more shit cards, I’ll just add this onto the list, so acid maw, cobra shot, toxic arrow, crushing walls, carry on grub, dinomancy (because why were they pushing them in hunter with no control), as well as a laundry list of just bad to mediocre cards and legendaries and the harshest nerfs in hearthstone history, can i just say was carryon grub meant to be neutral but they realized the needed another hunter card so shoved it in.

The problem is, that even cards like this won’t make hunters leave the meta because degenerates also need to play something and they still got all these cheat-cards like 3/2 adaptation, 1/1 grandma and all that stuff.

      True.

      Oh boy.

If I am hearing correctly, the class that has been the worst class in the game since May 2016, the class that has never had more than one viable archetype, the class with the only hero power that does not directly impact the board or draw a card other than Warrior, needs to “leave the meta” because it is full of degenerate cards? And anyone who plays hunter is a degenerate?

There are only two reasons why anybody would say this. One, if they do not understand that Hunter is in no way a solid, viable class right now. Two, if they lost twice to a rank 15 Hunter who finally won some games because he actually got a one drop in his starting hand.

Or maybe it’s because you have no clue how to beat the worst class in the game.

There is no reason to make toxic and salt-filled posts like this. Especially when your beliefs are founded on ideas that are not true in any way, shape, or form.

        Our god has spoken!

Seriously though, I love hunter and the idea of one day there being a control hunter with viable card draw (even healing). Every expansion Hunter gets overpriced cards that are extremely inconsistent and require specific situations for it to even work in (for example, crushing walls can be easily countered and costs 7 mana, which can’t possibly be played in a hunter Kathrena deck because the entire purpose of her is to draw big beasts; unless we’re stealing Druid class cards, it’s not possible to play more that 6 7+ mana cards in Hunter decks right now). Hunter would need healing of some kind. Reno made control hunter possible and of course he had to rotate out. The 6 mana candle glob we got this expansion as well is overcost bs since it’s obviously meant to synergize with Kathrena, but odds are as Hunter we mulliganed her into our starting hand for N’zoth. Hunter found the Catacombs in this expansion but only found overpriced bling valued in one country on another planet across the galaxy.

          Thank you!

After seeing the other new card that Dragon Priest is getting, I think Hunter isn’t going to be able to contest other, better decks unless the last four cards that are revealed today are absolutely ridiculous. I mean like all four of them.

That being said, I’m still going to be that guy who only plays Hunter (and my beautiful Control Warrior and Taunt Warrior). If there is any kind of card that could possibly make Hunter a better deck, it is getting crafted. 🙂

Here’s to Hunter and hoping that it will become more than just the aggressive midrange class it is thought to be. To all Hunter mains out there! Cheers!

    December 3, 2017 at 1:23 AM

This card shows me that Blizzard has literally no inspiration for new hunter CARDS. They’re like, we have a 3 mana Simmons 1 companion, and a 9 mana summon 3 companion. LETS MAKE A 6 MANA SUMMON 2!!!!! NO WAIT, LETS MAKE IT 6 MANA, SUMMON 1 COMPANION!!!

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING MAN, THEY PUT LITERALLY NO THOUGHT IN THIS CARD

Stop making bad epic cards blizzard…
It’s gonna be so frustrating when you finally get an epic card and it’s this one.

    • Quaeritate
      December 3, 2017 at 5:45 PM

Do you want all epics to be good to broken? That way you need all of them to be competitive?

If all epics and legendaries are must have, people will complain the game is too expensive. If some are better than others people will complain about the bad ones existing.

If minion-less Hunter becomes a thing in next 12 months and people are facing down two huffers on turn six every game, people will call for a nerf.

You have to know, that I’m still trying to get necessary Classic Epic cards after playing for a year and it’s really frustrating when I still not get Pyroblast, Preparation, Ancient of War etc.

I still get tons of BGH’s and other bad epic cards way more than those I need and epic cards are really expensive to craft.

6 mana Leokk? Seems fair and balanced for the strongest class in the game.

    • Looverse
      December 3, 2017 at 12:31 AM

I mean, after giving this some serious thought, Hunter does have the weakest class minions so it’s not like this is really a drawback. I personally run three different versions of minion-less Hunter with 100% win rate with them all. I mean, it’s so good, it doesn’t really matter which spells I run. The secret package is more than strong enough without Cloaked Huntress or Professor Putricide. And consider that Hunter is getting Crushing Walls, a spell you CANNOT play around. You literally have to have minions on the outside. And both of these new spells are only epics so you don’t have to craft any legends to make the next degenerate deck. I am so not looking forward to seeing Hunter on ladder for the next few months.

This is most likely a joke as priest has become the best class but blizzard has been pushing its “control” agenda for the past 3 expansions and there was only one card that was even a decent control card for hunter, and that was its deathknight. Not to mention after call of the wild all of the hunter epic spells were trash and barely playable. Poison shot, crushing walls, and now this, pathetic. Hunter deserves better if it wants to switch from a agro beast meta.

Ok, i know blizzard never buffs cards, especially right after making them, but they better make an exception, this isn’t balancing a card, this is just bad design, this wouldn’t even be made in hearthcards. I had to read this thrice just to that i was reading it wrong. This is even worse balancing than that paladin spell that gave your recruits +2/+2 and taunt for 4 more mana than mark of the lotus. Now we have a terrible call of the wild/ basic animal companion. Your telling me blizzard couldn’t have made this any better, especially for an EPIC? There is no excuses, literally if any card needs to be fixed, it’s this one.

    • Boneless
      December 2, 2017 at 10:49 PM

If they were to balance it, it would have to cost 5 and have the no minions effect summon all of the animal companions.

Eeeh. I mean the card’s still pretty bad even if you get the bonus; why wouldn’t you just drop a Savannah Highmane and still play a GOOD deck? I’d say it could see play in Maly Hunter, but that kinda relies on you having Maly in hand before playing. Same with Yogg. Buuuut Hunter DK could compensate for lack of minions I suppose. Idk, it just looks like a bad card.

It would be just better for game change hunter hero power for example random secret:1) 2 mana return atacking minion cost 2 less 2) secret deal 1 dmg to a attacking minion 3)if our oppponent atack u summon 0/2 with taunt 4)? Or something like that just fun hero power this are just examples why simply not change it for fun hero power and finish with this blizzard crap.

This really is unbelievably bad. It might see some play if it didn’t have that crippling restriction, but no way is it worth playing with no minions.

The Hunter version of the Art has fight in Knights of the Frozen Throne tried to push a no minion Hunter, but consensus wisdom found that it was simply better to include minions, take the damage, and burn him down. When I finally beat it I didn’t even hit my Molten Giants.

Hunters play minions; that’s Hearthstone logic as it is WoW logic. I don’t think a no minion Hunter will ever work, nor would it be thematically appropriate if it were possible.

    • Grog

They nerfed call of the wild because midrange hunter was tier 1 and crushing every other deck.

      • Spyder9899
        December 2, 2017 at 11:24 PM

Midrange hunter was never tier one. Not that I remember. Call of the wild was keeping it afloat.

  39. DocBrown
    December 2, 2017 at 8:24 PM

What is this card? Animal companion is 3 Mana. This costs 6, so it summons 2, but has a condition attached which is so absolutely terrible and crippling that it should make the card cheaper.

Also, why miss the opportunity and not make it a “if, then Discover 2 animal companions”?
That would at least make remotely playable.

But, and this is a huge but, how would 2 animal companions on turn 6 even help you in any way if your fckn deck has no minions in the first place? I mean, do you want to start to build a board on turn 6 with 2 random minions?
Is this for some kind of rush spell Hunter Deck and you always hope for two Huffer?

I just can’t. Please, dear designer of blizzard, tell us what you know that we don’t know. How is this card any good? Maybe for that Hunter archtype in 2019 that we don’t know about?

Imagine the face of the f2p guy who finally opens an epic and then it is this.

  40. Immolate
    December 2, 2017 at 8:22 PM

    Blizzard! Why?!

Hunter needed something. Something to contest the early board, some way to draw cards, or some way to make a more consistent “Control Hunter” deck. We did not need a 6 mana Animal Companion that means you are playing a deck with no minions!

The only way I can see this working is in a Hemet Secret Hunter deck, with Hemet being the only minion that costs over 3 mana. And THAT will only work if Hunter get’s some form of decent card draw that is either a spell or a minion that is under 3 mana for the Hemet synergy.

Please do not screw up the Hunter legendary weapon. Hunter has been a mediocre deck ever since Call of the Wild got nerfed, and I really want it to have some variety and see some decent play. If you want to push a Control Hunter archetype, you have to give us Hunters card draw, some kind of actually good removal (along the lines of Quick Shot), and some way to contest the early board.

I don’t know why I’m talking as if Blizzard can hear me. But Blizzard, there are four Hunter cards left to go (Might be more if every class is getting four rares like Paladin), so please help us. Hunter needs your help!

Community, please tell me if you agree with what I’m saying or if I’m overreacting. At the very least, this should cost 5 mana.

    • Jonathan
      December 2, 2017 at 8:49 PM

      I absolutely agree with you.

    • BadBoomBoom
      December 2, 2017 at 9:18 PM

Not only i agree, there some things ur missing.
Even if Hunter gets something this expansion, looking to all exciting new desings that every other class is getting since Ungoro… i would give at least 3 expansions to make Hunter seems like a hearthstone class.
Cmon, why they dont make a tier 1 beast deck… or maybe give hunter some actual good removal… That sh1t is an EPIC, and even if it costs 4 mana, it still WAAAAAY worst than Animal Companion, cause u playing a deck with NO MINIONS, u cannot capilatize on having even 2 mishas turn 4… at 6 mana, it surelly is top 5 worst cards in the whole game.
We thoght Purify was a dick slap to the face… little we knew, my friends.

      • Immolate
        December 2, 2017 at 11:05 PM

        Thank you for your response!

Hunter has been in a sore spot for the past 5 expansions, and this could be number 6. After thinking about it for a bit, if I were to change this card, it would read 6 mana Discover 2 Animal Companions. Summon them. That way, you could choose which ones you wanted. A couple nice taunts, a boardwide attack buff, 8 damage to push for lethal, and other combinations would make this card much more in depth and flexible.

Hopefully we see some better Hunter cards over the next few days. At least Hunter could be semi-decent while we wait for good decks to lose their cards in the next rotation and for Hunter to *maybe* get some better stuff.

        • OParis
          December 3, 2017 at 2:45 AM

In Un’Goro I had 50-70% winrate against any class, except hunter where I had 23% winrate(???).
The face hunter was insanely powerful in Un’Goro.

          • Immolate
            December 3, 2017 at 8:21 AM

One player’s personal experience does not speak for the overall balance of the class. It was likely that you simply played a deck that has a weakness to rush decks, like Rogue, or you mulliganed and played poorly against Hunter. Face Hunter was never a top tier deck according to any major authority, including this site, Tempo Storm, and Vicious Syndicate during Un’Goro.

Let’s assume that you are correct and Face Hunter was a top tier, “insanely powerful” deck at this time. It still doesn’t make up for that fact that Hunter only had ONE viable deck when every other class had at least two, and sometimes 3 or 4, with the possible exception of Warlock. Face Hunter was also a deck that relied mostly on draws and had a very low skill ceiling.

I’m not saying I want Hunter to be the number 1 deck for a year. I simply want to be able to have more variety when I choose to play Hunter competitively, and I want some good Hunter cards to make both competitive and fun archetypes accessable and viable.

          • BadBoomBoom
            December 3, 2017 at 1:20 PM

Face Hunter is not a deck in some regards, face hunter is the product of a concept thats inherent to Card Games, and it is: Which cards u can use to rush your opponent fast enought that they cant react… from that idea decks like Burn or Stomp from MTG are created. In Hearthstone, the fastest way to win a game used to be Face Hunter, in a “recent past” it was Pirate Warrior, and today it is Keleseth Rogue. At least the last two got a theme going on, that beeing play pirates or not having 2 drops… Face hunter just plays whatever is faster and try to kill u.
The “Face” is not an archetype , it is more like a strategy that tries to win a game with the least plays possible. It falls in the Aggro Archetype, cause to win a game on turn 4-6, u need all the most powerfull resouces u can have as early as possible on a match, but the Face itself does not stand for a whole archetype.
And all we had for hunters since… i think Naxxramas, where aggro decks. Thats too much time without any new implements for a class, while all of the others gained AT LEAST support for 2 non-classic strategies (Dragons, Pirates, Totems, Mill, Ramp, Deathaddle, Elemental, etc…) and are able to play at least 2 different archetypes (Aggro, MidRange, Control, Fatigue, Value, OTK)… Hunter only play Beasts and try to be agressive since the release of the game.
            Something needs to be change.

The problem is that the hunter situation is like the purify priest situation, blizzard is still trying to make up for old mistakes too much. After seeing how the community hated where priest was going, blizzard constantly made powerful cards to get priest to where it is today. Now, we all remember the good old beast hunter, but we also remember face hunter, and i guess blizzard is getting too scared of a class like hunter getting out of control again (no pun intended) so they are making cards like this. But, no matter how strong hunter was before, no class deserves…this. Hunter deserved better, especially for an epic.

this; blizzard just doesn’t know how to balance: they make priest ultimately broken in order to ‘apologize for the years on the bottom’, then gives druid and shaman meh cards and hunter totally crap because ‘they were too powerful before’ -they keep going that route and this game will be more dead than a corpse in no time

        Thank you for your response!

I agree that nobody really wants the SMOrc meta, and I applaud Blizzard for dealing with that. However, with hunter, they always seem to take things just a little too far. When you look at cards like Starving Buzzard, one of Hunter’s only decent forms of card draw, it makes me sad that they made it 5 mana. keeping it at it’s original stats, making it 3 mana, and also making Unleash the Hounds 3 mana would have been sufficient. I hope the other cards hunter gets make up for this.

Maybe this card is for the Non beast Big hunter archetype they are pushing. Once you get your big charge minions out of your deck with the new hunter legendary this card is pretty good. You can try the secret package and run two cloaked huntresses. There are good hunter spells too like kill command , deadly shot, unleash the hounds, and the new hunter spell stone. The Hunter DK can help you build minions so you don’t have to run many yourself. Overall, this card might have some potential. 3/5

You can’t run ANY minions otherwise there is a chance this card turns to shite.

Or maybe this is to help defeat the Lich King using hunter.

Oh please. I beat him with almost a basic deck.
I took 20 dmg to face on turn 1 and then proceeded to dominate with cards like hound master and Savanah highmane.

Personally i think the warlock one is the worst, the shaman one at least does something the turn its played. It’s by no mean good but at least it does something….

As bas as this card can be, it makes a fun control hunter deck much more viable. Hearthstone is not only for competitive play, some people just wanna have fun with dank decks.

Ok, if you get to choose it ain’t so bad if you run a deck with no minions, but that’s tough to do.
