Tanglefur Mystic Card Review
It reminds me of that Mage card… Spellslinger. And Spellslinger has seen some play. However, it was mostly because a random spell was on average BETTER in that Mage deck than in other decks, since it had lots of spell synergies. Not to mention that it was a while ago – I don’t think that Spellslinger would make a cut right now.
Now we need to find a deck that will take advantage of the random 2-drops. Maybe some Midrange deck? Or a deck with lots of buffs, minion synergies etc.? On average, a random 2-drop will be better in such a deck than in some Control build, so you might want to run it.
On top of that, giving a card to your opponent might potentially be good if they have 9 cards in their hand already – burning a top card from their deck is never bad. You will prefer them having a random 2-drop than a card from their deck.
I think that this card is solid – not powerful, but good enough to see Constructed play. The difficulty might be finding the right deck to play it.
Card rating: 6/10
This might be useful in a aggro vs control match-up since the aggro deck will probably get more out of the 2 cost minion than a control deck will. This card does remind me of a less random version of Spellslinger from the Grand Tournament, and that did see limited amounts of play when it was around. Perhaps that’ll be good enough for it to see play in aggressive decks that really need the draw, but that would be about it.
Very Niche Card, Escpially if you have that one random moment to make your Oppoment Overdraw.
Otherwise it’s a Okay Card for Arena.
Fills your mana curve in odd decks, and keleseth decks, nothing else.
I think this will exactly do that in odd decks. For odd decks turn 4 is a really big issue. It’s probably their weakest turn in the game. They either have to play a 1 drop and 3 drop or hero power and two 1-drops. If they just hero power, they probably get in trouble. This will exactly solve that problem.
Totally agree. Raven caller could do the samejob. The body is weaker, but it’s more flexible and doesn’t give a card to your oponnent.
Truth is found in death.
Mandatory Doomsayer jokes incoming.
Competitive side of things… Mill decks? Handdruid? Otherwise, why rely on RNG? This can be very good or very bad… 2/5 stars, too unreliable. But I’d consider it as I said in Mill decks or Handdruid.
