I’ve been using this card in a few priest decks, and the review is right, at least, on one count. This card is an awful draw early on. If you play it on turn 3/4 it totally wrecks your tempo and your opponent will get ahead unless you’re already way ahead or they’re incompetent. However, it really seems to synergize with a deck based around Bwonsamdi, the Dead. With Spirit of the Dead plus a lot of copying cards like Baneful Banker, Seance, and Vivid Nightmare, It’s not too hard to stack your deck with tough cards (especially taunt minions, which naturally are often killed before your opponent can get to your Spirit), and if you play it late game you have a deck full of buffed, cheap minions. And if you draw Bwonsamdi, you pull all of them into your hand.
Surrender to madness + MOJOMASTER ZIHI. Eliminates the mana crystal destruction. Load up with cheaper minions and buffs and zoo your way to victory.
The fun of this is, if you are playing it, you have gone to the madness.
If games become slow this could see some play if you get mad enough.
3/5.
Makes a lot more sense with Bwonsamdi and Spirit of the Dead. During the midgame you shuffle suitable (Like Saronite Chain Gang) minions into your deck as 1 costs using Spirit of the Dead. Then on T10 you play Surrender to Madness and immediately draw all of them with Bwonsamdi. Pretty sweet
This card intrigues me so much. Played with shadow visions and perhaps another anti-aggro spell it ensures that you receive this early(ish) game and maybe might survive. And then when you use the other copies late game you pretty much have won with that value. By that time it doesn’t matter that you are losing mana because your cards are low cost in the first place.
Also this is clearly made to counter slow control or combo decks. The tough match up would always be aggro.
I think this is being looked at wrong. It is terrible as an early play in an aggro type deck because the three mana crystal loss is detrimental to your tempo. However, it can save your aggro deck if you are getting into the late game. You only need some mana crystals to play most of your minions, and this gives them a buff so they compete with higher cost minions.
I find this card so odd. It is weird because it does not fit priest archetype which should have been more like +1/+4 or +0/+5 favoring health over attack, but rather than that, it is just plain useless for priest since the class is not minion based (and even less aggro-based). If it had read “double your healing effects for the rest of the game” or “healing power +3” or if it had given you the hero power of the DK or something like that: all of that would have made sense. But +2/+2 to minions in your deck? just sems un-classlike and not very useful to me.
‘hey look it’s a better keleseth…except it leaves you a 3 mana disadvantage’
+2 “surrender to madness” +2 “shadow visions” +2 “grand archivist” and none spell else in your deck, this way we make sure we will play it every game because it starts with 15% chance to “draw” one “surrender to madness” copy every game
What we want is just play it in turn 8,9 or 10, then we start summoning big minions every turn
As a Priest only player since beta, lemme say something controvers.
If Priest loses a game, he would have lost even if his minions had + 2 / + 2
If a priest wins, then he would have won event without his minions + 2 / + 2
Priest is the only class wich can loose a game even with +5/+5 Minions
most important things for priest ist Removal (when you have to remove something), AOE (when you need to AOE) and Time.
*removal
Hello ma friend from germany, yea its exactly the way you mentioned.
If you double coin will it only actually destroy one mana crystal?
Best case scenario is similar to keleseth in big spell mage. Not game defining in any way but allows for slightly better trading. Prob not going to see any play imho. +2/2 counts in the long run as we see from our friend keleseth. 2.5/5
Great meme potential, but too unreliable on tempo/midrange decks. The only REAL use for this card is cementing Archbishop Benedictus as a win condition in Fatigue Priest. You play it at 10 mana after the Benedictus, and you will draw really powerful minions after that. Fatigue Priest loses hard to the popular combo decks right now, so this won’t see any play in the near future. 0.5/5 stars.
The first trash tier card of the expansion has to be a Priest card. We don’t expect less. Thanks.
The light has betrayed us
This is a big effect, so the question is “Will the format work out to where the crippling drawback will be worth the steroid injection?”
I think no in Standard and maybe in Wild. Priest right now isn’t in the best place to make a Zoo deck, but it could prove rather useful for a low curve Wild Zoo Dragon Priest, where Twilight Welps and Wyrmrest Agent can play okay in the early game and then snowball with 7/8 Operatives and 7/6 Scaleworms.
I’m surprised by how many people in these comments are talking about this in a control style. This card only makes sense in an aggro priest deck that wants to hold the board with cheap minions. You MIGHT use it with Keleseth, or you might really value having multiple 2-drops, but this card plays a similar role to Keleseth which was dismissed as unplayable before people realized it was deck-definingly powerful. Aggro priest was shockingly strong during the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion, and cards like this can make aggro priest strong if they have a way to draw a bunch from their own deck using aggressive stat cards.
This card makes 0 sense in aggro
having 3mana crystals is much better than buffing your deck by +2+2
It only makes sense if you play it on turn 10 so that the 3mana loss doesn’t matter much. So a control priest with benedictus + madness as a win condition against control is pretty much the only way.
this card makes zero sense in any deck
Why priest, why not warlock
It’s not warlock because the name of the card refers to a Shadow Priest talent which has the same kind of effect.
I don’t know, that makes no sense for me. Destroying your mana crystals is a mechanic we have already seen in warlock and if that was in the new bufflock they try to make that’ll be maybe a good card. In priest i think that too much a lose of time
JUST NO!
How are you not tired off the masses of brainded players using exactly the same deck for multiple games in a row
If this was in warlock the game would die and all that would be left would be unskilled knobheads who think they are good
If this was in warlock it would change nothing because it’s unplayable in warlock
Very apt title. You have to do what the title says to play this in an aggro meta.
I’m going to steal your pun
Im so ready for new bad cards for priest š
Lets take Lady in White as example, a great effect, but useless because of tempo, how is this card better than that? to me is far worse. For priest is already hard to survive the early game because the lack of good cheap drops, and this put you 3 turns behind… Keleseth is strong, because it has no other backdraw than sacrifying your 2 mana cost cards wich makes no much difference in the mid to late game. +2/+2 is a strong effect, but the current meta have some good aggro decks like odd rogue and heallock, plus, pirates are back so i dont think the meta will turn slower this expansion, 1,5/5.
This card is crazy. I sincerely don’t know how good could this be, but everything about it is just crazy.
Why is this in priest? Tempo spiteful in coming again??
Why does this buff your minions in your deck but then makes you play minions that are off curve? Is that good?
I am completely confused about all of this, but I am not sure if this is the way to go for priest. I guess we’ll see.
Its a spell so no space for it in spiteful decks :/
I don’t know. The only example of mana crystal destruction we have in standard is Felguard, a 3 mana 3/5 which destroys a mana crystal and has taunt. Basically, 1 mana crystal destruction means 1 mana worth of extra value. It’s like Overload, but you don’t have mana on turn x + (lost mana on turn x) + 1 on turn x+1. With this it sets your curve low and hinders you. I don’t like it. 2/5.
Lmao Iām playing this after Benedictus
I’m loving how weird and off-the-wall these cards. No idea if it’ll be good or not, but glad they’re trying things like this
It buffs all your minions, but then you can only play minions that are 3 mana below the curve you had otherwise, so seems like it more than cancels out the buff. And you spent a card and three mana for the privilege. I’m pretty skeptical.
Probably too slow, but who knows
2/5
So you can play these two with kelesth and cheap minions priest is back in zoo style
