I expected something like this for Paladin. This is basically a 2 mana Divine Strength with Echo. However, 2 mana for a +1/+2 buff is quite pricey, and it doesn’t seem good at any point. For example, on 4 it competes with Blessing of Kings, on 6 with Spikeridged Steed – and it doesn’t compare favorably.

Buffs are good if they’re either high tempo or high value. This is, to be fair, neither. Divine Strength hasn’t seen any play at 1 mana (outside of the Quest Paladin, later about that), and this is much more clunky. Too slow for Aggro, and Midrange would simply prefer to play other buffs like the ones I’ve listed above.

I mean, yes, flexibility comes at a cost, and that’s the point of Echo cards. I just don’t see this as something you’d want to put in your deck over the other buffs. Buff cards need to be really powerful to ensure seeing play (remember that Silence is a thing). The only thing I really like about this card is that you can spread it over multiple targets – you don’t have to keep buffing a single one. There could be some boards in which giving +1/+2 to three different minions might keep them alive after trades and basically save your board.

Still, the only deck I see this really fitting into is Quest Paladin. Since every separate cast would count for the Quest, you can, for example, quite easily get 3 procs of Quest on Turn 6, most likely finishing it. Even 2 procs of the Quest with a single card is good enough. That said, we all know how bad Quest Paladin is. While this is a nice addition, the deck is losing Divine Strength, which was, believe it or not, one of the better cards in the deck, thanks to the pretty high tempo it provided (especially when casted on a Divine Shield 1-drop).

Oh, and I’m waiting for a highlight of an opponent dropping Millhouse Manastorm against Paladin with this in hand… Play this as many times as you can before the rope burns.

    Really excited to see Quest Pally on the comeback.

    I dont think people realize the potential here, seeing as the interaction with Primalfin Champion is absolutely insane. Just echoing the buff twice on the little murloc allows for 2 more copies with Echo potential, assuming his Deathrattle isnt silenced away. That’s over half the quest already.

    I’m imagining some sort of slower Control Paladin that utilizes Sound The Bells! plus Primalfin exclusively to complete the quest, and closing out games with Galvadon + Faceless Manipulator. Another new Pally spell Rebuke helps keep the two Galvadon’s on board to smash face next turn.

    Unfortunately since the Cubelock archetype isn’t going anywhere, I doubt this will see much play, because DKs aren’t spells (I think) so dropping Gul’dan into two Galvadons would still be enough taunt to protect face. Pyro + Equality won’t work because Galvadons will die too.

    So we’ll have to wait and see if Pally gets some new removal or if those spicy Dragon interactions will be good enough to make it work.

    A few synergies to consider:
    Turn ten you can get a 6/9 voraxx with 3 2/3 plant buddies using just this card. Synergy with Galvadon and Lynessa are obvious but probably not exactly constructed viable (although a tonne of fun.) Eydis on turn 3 and this twice on turn 4 is a cool play in wild or it could be used to buff up Leeroy in aggro paladin (doing 8 to face on turn 10 and giving Leeroy 4 health.)
    Plenty of options for this to work, would be suprised if it didn’t turn up somewhere.

    Someone knows how this card works with the murloc 1/2 than gives you back the buffs when he dies?

      You will get one copy of the card added to your hand for each time you played the card on it.
      Echo creates another copy of the card after you play it during the turn you initially played it. Thus, each copy of the card created is an individual buff.

    Has anyone confirmed if Lynessa gets Echoed buffs? It could make it into the Lynessa package apart from Paladin quest. It’s not very powerful so I rate it 2 stars, 2.5 if Lynessa gets echoed buffs.

      Well, considering echoed cards are a separate card, i believe so. You’re basically playing 5 times the same card, so Lynessa would get 5 buffs

    4.5/5 in arena and 3/5 in ranked…maybe it will make quest paladin or buff paladin a better deck

    This is, in my opinion, an effort to make Paladin Quest viable, maybe in even decks.

        you can have both since the even cost stuff is about your deck not your hand. the quest stays out in your hand. if you’re going to be a smart ass – which I’m all for – at least think it through. ?

          Hate to break it to you, but I believe that someone had said that the thing is checked before the game even starts, meaning quests can only go in odd decks

            Start of the game is after mulligans. you get a hand before any cards activate. see prince malchezar’s effect which presumably is what these beginning of game effects are modeled after. Start of game means after mulligan and before a turn is taken, without a turn being taken the game has not begun. unless they decide to change an already existing chain of events you all have no ground to stand on

          I would imagine that start of game effects occur before anything else. The reason the animation of Malchezar happens after mulligans is to not give your opponent an information advantage. It would suck if Baku’s effects were shown in animation before mulligan, as it would give your opponent immense information about what cards you cannot be playing, and mulligan accordingly.

            the effect is shown to the user and happens after mulligans, otherwise you could draw malchezar legendaries before mulligans. so beginning of game is after mulligans. these new cards have the same text and effect types, therefore they should work in the exact same way. this interaction already exists in prince malchezar. if you can find something of substance that says otherwise i would like to see it, but at the moment these cards look to be the same and trigger identically.

    I love it in arena, but I more love it as a discoverable or random spell. I wouldn’t want to top deck this card or ever have it early in my hand. Worst case scenario in late game, you have a 9-mana 5/9 silver hand recruit.
    Overall, this is the class that needed the spell the least.

    I like this card a lot. It could be insane but I just wonder how exactly it will interact with Primalfin Champion, Lynesa Sunsorrow, and The Last Kaleidosaur.

    2 mana for +1/+2 is okay.
    4 mana to give +2/+4 is decent (Blessing is better for a single target but this could buff two targets so the -2/-0 is understandable in comparison. )
    6 mana for +3/+6 is comparable to Steed which gives +2/+6.
    8 mana for +4/+8 is great.
    10 mana for +5/+10 is absolutely amazing but the fact that this will consume an entire turn but this would be justified if that 5 extra attack is enough to win that turn.

      Echo works only if you cast the card from your hand, so Lynessa on’t give you a bunch of ghostly “sound the bells”

        Never thought it would create ghostly copies. Was wondering about the interaction as far as would she “play” the ghost copies you’ve played.

        Example: Your 6 mana turn you play Primalfin Champion and Sound the bells twice on Champion.

        Turn 7: Lynesa Sunsorrow… would she get +2/+4 or just +1/+2.

        Also if the Champion dies would it give one or two copies to your hand.

    As it is, it is good for the archetype it belongs to, Quest/Buff Paladin, but won’t see play outside of that archetype unless 2/3 Silver Hand Recruits end up being rather strong.
    If this gave +2/+3 for 3 mana instead, I think it would be more playable. However, outside of Blessing of Kings, the playable buff cards like Spikeridge Steed, Velen’s Blessings, and Mark of Y’Shaarj all do something on top of the stats they give to the minion. If this did something minor like give the minion a deathrattle that summons a 1/1 spirit or even just Taunt, it could be enough to push the card over the edge and see play in Paladin in general like Steed did for a time.

    Hearthstone is remaking 1-cost cards with echo and +1 mana. this card is Divine Strength and Warpath is Whirlwind.

          Kingsbane Rogue is losing coldlight which is its main draw engine so chances are it isn’t going to find the combo pieces nearly as easily. It will still probably beat control decks, but it won’t do nearly as well against aggro if it buffs early enough.

      Yes, because a Priest w/ 2x Radiant Elemental or a Mage w/ 2x Sorceror’s Apprentice will be tooootally balanced by getting infinity worth of stats with little to no effort… 🙂

      Paladin’s a completely fine class to have the card in. You have Lynessa plus Galvadon synergy, and it’s not completely broken in synergies with other cards, so I’d say it’s fine as is. A bit of a weird archetype, but meh. It’s k 😀
