Similarly to Time Out!, this card seems pretty good at stalling, but also necessitates a deck which wants to stall. I don’t know if the Big Spell/Hero Power/Varden Mage wants to stall THAT bad, but it has to be noted that this is a Frost spell, making it so it gets recasted by Varden. Mage has a lot of ways to discover and generate spells, something Paladin didn’t have at the point in time Time Out! was in standard: that makes this spell especially powerful, being able to be chained up through several different turns. Sure, it doesn’t make you completely immune, but it still makes you very hard to deal damage to, and I think that the effect is almost the same as being completely immune when you have high amounts of health. However, when you’re low, Time Out! provides a complete protection from any form of damage, while this doesn’t, and I think that should at least be mentioned. Of course, it’s not as good as Ice Block was, but it is on the same vein, so we already know how powerful stalling cards can be when paired with the burn Mage has access to. Watch out for Solid Alibi: this kind of cards eventually always find a way to be incredibly unfun to play against.
If you look at this as a piece of Skeleton Mage, this is an integral piece that gives you longevity and is exciting to see.
If you look at this as a piece of Quest Mage, this is filling a huge gap of easily playable Frost spells that adds longevity and is absolutely the last thing you want to see. Quest Mage needs to be made even more unplayable.
Another good mage stall card, great. I’m going to hate to see this is wild quest mage. 4.5/5
It’s going to be great against quest mage though since it’s until my next turn!
Yeah, an unlike the secret, this can’t be removed. But no worries C’thun can still win 😀
Insane control card for mage. 5/5
For 2 mana it will be meta forever and after rotation even some decks in wild.
There were cards like this like “Timeout” for Paladin and this card saw a lot of play.
If you have a game strategy like an otk, Big Spell or skeleton strategy this card helps a lot, no it´s essential.
You can slow your opponent down as long as they have no “damage split among enemies”-effects.
And it saves you from spells and not only from minions like frost nova, blizzard and so on.
Pretty broken, will be nerfed to 3 mana for sure if mage is too good nxt expansion.
Comparable to the likes of the stealth your hero card for rogue and ice block. Only downside is arcane missiles and mask of cthun-like split damage but there’s not much of that around. This card alone might bring back the reign of quest mage once again or might result in creation of some sort of a new burn mage. 5 star if more burn mage support is released, 4 otherwise. At the very least it will be used in wild as a second ice block-like for combo decks.
It’s just a worse version of frost nova unless it is against exactly a burn deck. Will it see play? Probably, but I don’t see this card suddenly making questline or any other burn mage THAT much better.
In wild, it will be very strong though.
But you’re right. I dont really see a standard Deck, where this would fit in.
Frost Mage stall, lovelyyyy.
