Wow, so many tokens! Seems great for token decks.

I think this card is highly underrated, because if it is played on an empty board, it is devastating: the opponent needs to use boardclears on it but probably won’t kill it, so it probably triggers twice and possibly even more times, because if the deck running it is aggro, those board clears may have been used up. And if it is left alone a bloodlust is deadly, either from shaman or our boy zephrys.

This card probably is a 5 star card.

You know alot of the comparison and complaining for this card saying onyxia is better. Granted stat wise onyxia is better but that 2 Mana more cost can make a difference with this being a 7 cost at 10 Mana you have a rather good field of 3 cost support cards can play in same turn including taunt. When onyxia gets used it fills board immediately and 1 Mana doesn’t tend to give as much for some classes.

Side note though for onyxia is all these discover dragon cards appearing if really want her likely can RNG into picking her.

Any card that serves as a “board in a can” has potential. Look at The Forest’s Aid. Token decks live or die based on their ability to have more boards than the opponent has boardwipes. This is one card, one board. Or multiple boards, if you’re lucky enough! The counterargument is Onyxia, which never sees play and is arguably better than this.

I think the stats are pretty miserable. Very unlikely to survive a turn. The fact that Shu’ma is tall while the board it makes is wide helps prevent a total clear .. however even control decks will have minions onboard to trade with this (and still live).

This card’s a definite sleeper. It demands a response from opponents, which if it doesn’t receive will lead to otk-like shenanigans. If it does get responded to, well you’re opponent used strong removal given its high health. 4/5 in my book.

really only quest hunter, knife juggler, and bloodlust seem to have a decent synergie with this. And if it get’s some support in DoD it’ll be even beter. Stand alone it’s already pretty good value, but in comparison with other DoD cards it just isn’t that strong, I like the concept though, so 4/5?

You forget that any deck with zephrys has blood lust.

Dealing with this as a control deck looks like a nightmare. You have to clear the tentacles right away or you just die to bloodlust-like effects. But if you kill the tentacle you probably can’t deal with shu’ma, so you’re in for a new wave of tentacles.
Mage has no answer, priest only has plague of death but it comes 2 turns later. Warrior can spend a brawl for a single card, or go warpath/dynomatic + exec, which is expensive.

it’s weaker in tempo matchups, but well it’s still 7/13 stats.

        Sry, was some comment glitch.
The good news is psychic scream is devastating against token boards. So priest has a really good card.
And as a tip, built your priest deck with a kill combo to not die against control when using psychic scream. And as an upside you win against jades.

Old gods anyone? Honestly not as bad as other people say in my opinion, seems solid as desperate measure, like a lot of other Neutral legendaries not good for any deck but maybe arena or off a discover effect? In some scenarios this could save you the game. Overall not good but certainly not unplayable by any means 4/10

A 1/7 on 7 with repeating value if it isn’t answered. Onyxia sometimes saw play in Token Druid, and now Hunter has the capacity to buff tokens as well thanks to the quest. I’m not sure if this card will actually be GOOD there, but it’s worth experimenting with.

…This card is just awful, right? Like, halfway betweeen Millhouse-Awful and Duskfallen Anivia-Awful.

This card is nowhere near that bad, both those cards basically lose you the game when you play them. This at least gives you a full board lol.

This card can actually win you the game in the right situation. Any board buffing cards and you basically win the game

What about Arena? Do you guys think this will have any play there? I think it might be quite good there. Just a thought.

Maybe? Sure, it is probably better than your average common–except its a legendary. It’s not going to be offered that often and when it is, it will probably be against other high-impact legendaries. For example: I can’t imagine this being a better arena card than Ysera Unleashed, Veranus, or Deathwing Mad Aspect. Sure, there are other legendaries which you might prefer this too either because they synergize poorly or are low impact, but if your other 2 offerings are both worse, then I think that’s moreso a low-roll than this card being good. Keep in mind: without buffs, this card is doing a max of 7 damage/turn, so even if your opponent ignores it entirely it will still take 4-5 turns to kill them.

I feel like this is a must add for any token based archetype. 7 mana is cheap for a neutral card that fills your board with tokens and creates a must-clear target. My mind goes to quest hunter right away. If not removed, it could snowball the game.

Imagine pre ordering the set and getting the golden card of this… 1/10

Not possible. Preorder were always giving specific class legenedary, and I believe this time it is class dragon.

    It’s Hir’eek the Bat 2.0., except it’s Neutral. TL;DR still 1 Star.

Now, the biggest problem for Hir’eek was that Warlocks weren’t for their Buffing, that was more to do with someone like Paladin’s or Priest Job to do that for example. With that said, as it is, as a 7 Mana worse version of Onixia, yeah it’s a pretty terrible card. However, if you can somehow keep this card alive from your opponent’s turn at least once is where Shu’ma starts to shine. Someone like Quest Druid could have an interest in shu’ ma (of all things, yes.) because of his ability to use Both of his Choose one cards., and his ability to buff Shu’Ma Health. I would say the same for Priest, but so far all they card about is Whacking you for 28 Damage, with that much health. Paladin could pull this off, because of something like Sand Breathe and Glowstone Technician, and the only thing that could benefit with Shu’ma from Warrior, is Pain warrior, where you use something like Inner Rage or Improve Morale, and then using Rampage, just to at least give it some sort of body. But you would be wasting so much fuel onto 1 minion that it’s not worth it. Freeze Mage COULD use it, but why would she bother, when she has so much Powerful Minions and 2 Blue-eyes White Dragons? Malygos the Aspect of Magic, and Kelegos.

And I guess Quest Hunter, but Quest Hunter, in my opinion, is a meme.

So the only classes that could try and give Shu’ma some love are either Handbuff Paladin or Quest Druid. and already it’s not looking too good for Shu’ma, because like I said: “Why to bother using Shu’ma when you could use Onyxia instead?”. I think players, even if they somehow love this card, because they loved Violet Wurm from Kobolds and Catacombs, are sadly out of luck, and they need to go back to Onyxia, because Shu’Ma doesn’t have a home yet, and even if it did, they would just use Onyxia instead. 1 Star. I’m sorry Shu’ma.

So, just a Quest Update on Shu’ma: There is 1 more glimpse of hope for this card, and that is if it’s drawn with Warrior’s Galakrond the Unbreakable since it draws Minions from your deck and it gives them +4/+4. So you could make you Shu’ma a Potential 7 mana 5/11. I would STILL say to go for Onyxia at that point, for an 8 mana 12/12 threat, but I’m trying to be as optimistic as possible with Shu’ma. There’s just nothing great about Shu’ma, unless it’s either Cheated out or if you somehow get it with Courjor’s Calling.

“Quest Hunter, in my opinion, is a meme.”
      a 53% winrate meme

“Why to bother using Shu’ma when you could use Onyxia instead?”
      1) shuma comes 2 turn earlier, which is massive
      2) if onyxia survives, she hits for 7 more dmg. Shuma summons 6 tentacles. In a token deck, 6 tentacles beat 7 face dmg.

Yayyy my quest hunter deck will love this! It’s not the best card by any means but certain decks will love using this and it’s a pretty great arena card as well.

Onyxia is just a better version of this card, especially in a dragon meta.

Without seeing other cards from this expansion this looks like card that works best with cards that can make use of tokens. Druid is obvious and quest Hunter is possible. Shaman has same reason with bloodlust and warrior can use as a way to dmg enemies for removal.

    That’s a 5 stars for me.

This is a really weird card. A slow token generator without a tribal tag for extra support. A board full of 1/1s isn’t a big deal by the point this card can be played. Ankward stats as well. Doesn’t seem to fit in any type of deck at the moment and token decks don’t want to drag the game for too long. I’m on defense with this card. It looks really bad but maybe there are some other cards to support it on this set.
