As a person who has tried so hard to make galvadon a thing this makes me excited, in wild the deck is very good but having this makes it a lot better. pirates have to trade a minion and a weapon charge to kill it. hunter this trades with ally cat. This could make handbuff or galvadon a thing and i approve buffing this once is insane shielded mini bot, which was the best paladin minion outside of legendary for a while.

The more I think about this card, the more I like it. It’s Argent Squire (an already decent card) with free taunt. It’s Annoy-o-Tron but with one less health for one less mana. Even off of turn 1 it can be a really good card to have in your back pocket to make it a lot harder for your opponent to deal with bigger threats like GoodRag.

Even if Divine Pally doesn’t become a thing, Pally might just find a place for this guy.

Yup, about a year later and now its home to Odd Pally. Nice prediction lmao

This weakens the power of howling commander in a divine shield deck. Another reason to not play him.

Depends. If divine shield paladin is a thing next expansion (I’m not so sure, but it’s possible), I think you don’t care what divine shield you draw. Maybe a cheaper one is better.

Already theory crafted a deck including this card to ruin everybodys day 😀

This is about the most Paladin card possible…

AIUI class-specific cards can have a little extra value over their neutral counterparts – anyone can use Argent Squire but Pally gets one with Taunt. Whether it’s amazing or not – this seems to be just about perfect card design.

Personally I suspect it’s going to be a tricky in any Pally deck with minion buffs (which is like all of them); if dropped on turn 1 it’s just awkward, on turn 2 it could be either 4/1 or 2/3, on turn 5 it’s potentially 5/5 – it’s going to be flexible and unlike Argent Squire your minions can’t just walk around it.

Solid 1-drop, but I can’t help but think that this was introduced to reduce the number of class Legendaries that Paladin discovers with Stonehill Defender

      August 1, 2017 at 5:11 AM

My thought exactly – this was to weaken the pool of Paladin class Taunts.

    Remember Shielded Minibot?

Well, this is on turn one and it has taunt.

    Good foking luck

If Argent Squire is not seeing play, this won’t either. Even if it does, it will be in an aggro deck and I think aggro will have better options than this. At best it’s a mild inconvenience. It might have 2 functional health, but 1-attack minions need something else to make them playable.

Argent Squire would have seen play if it weren’t for this card. This card is very strong. Will be in most paladin decks.

Argent Squire actually was played in lots of decks, and don’t forget the fact it has taunt. So you basically has to remove this, and somehow make two hits by turn two, which is not that easy as you might think

Did you forget about all tge divine shield synergies that have been revealed? It’s cards like this one (or the lack of one) that make or break this divine shield archtype for paladin. If divine shield paladin sees play this will see play as well. I feel like we need just divine shield 3 or 4-drop to make it work (besides corpsetaker obviously)

        August 1, 2017 at 3:30 AM

Not a big believer in the divine shield synergies deck. Do you remember all the handbuff cards that were revealed for Mean Streets? Look what happened to those. The archetype my succeed or it may not, it’s way too early to say. On its own, the card is fine, but it’s not the next coming of Jesus like its rating will have you believe. Especially if the meta truly is slower, a 1 mana 1/1 minion is very unlikely to have a real impact on the game.

    • Droma
      August 1, 2017 at 4:47 AM

It stops one creature two turns or two creatures one turn, for one mana? Totally worth.

It also has synergies with the cards that get buffed when divine bubbles are popped, not to mention corpsetaker.

      5/5

      U forgoting about one think
      Critical mass
if cards for certain archetype may not work… if there is not enough of them what if u print more DS one drops so now u will use both of them with small time recrutment and DS synergy cards/ just bufs?
      it may tip the scale

1 mana Annoy-o-Tron. A nerf to Stonehill Defender, synergy with Corpsetaker.

    INSANE! 🙂

a lot of synergy with the new and old cards.

    I really like this 1

Taunt and divine shield for only 1 mana!? Crazy value!!

    July 31, 2017 at 11:17 PM

Wow, OP. Will be in pretty much every paladin deck (few exceptions, e.g. murloc pally).
As pervasive as Tirion, Aldor, and Light Rag

    • Whiplash
      August 1, 2017 at 6:10 AM

Actually IMO this would be strong in Murloc Pally – for just one mana your Murlocs get cover (like Voidwalker in Warlock Murloc or Zoo).

Jambre murloc paladin already ran 2 argent squire with 2 rallying blade.

Does it open with “Well met! Well met! Well met!”?

  21. Hoagie
    July 31, 2017 at 10:34 PM

Besides the fact that this card will be great in any Aggro or Divine Shield Paladin, it might make handbuff viable.

  22. TheGrimone
    July 31, 2017 at 10:30 PM

It’s also crazy bonkers in an aggro zoo deck.
Annoy-o-tron was already good and it’s mostly the same.
No mech tag this time, but with the rise of divine shield synergy that would be overkill.

While I like the card design, I must say that I believe that the card is absolutely broken at 1 mana. This will be in every Paladin deck in arena. I can guarantee that with 100% certainty. it will be discovered via Tortolan Shellraiser, or just plainly drafted into the deck. I think that we will see this in Ranked mode, as well, after all,
this is a -1/-1 on WIckerflame Burnbristle’s stats. It is an Argent squire with taunt. This card will dominate aggro openers, as well (which I must say, I do appreciate).

    • Alt3r
      July 31, 2017 at 10:34 PM

You think discovering this from Tortolan Shellraiser is a upside? I would rather take the Vanilla Segodon. The only situation where I see you taking this card in a discover is if it’s turn 4 vs aggro and you need board NOW!

      • GreatfulGert
        July 31, 2017 at 10:45 PM

I imagine having a large minion, a T. Forager, and a Silver Hand Recruit.
The opponent plays a Stubborn Gastropod and you lack removal in-hand.

      • RoAr
        July 31, 2017 at 10:56 PM

That’s why there are two other choices with discover 😛

    • Unicorn
      July 31, 2017 at 10:44 PM

I can guarantee with 100% certainty that this card will never be discovered via Tortollan Shellraiser.
