Control warlock doesn’t exist in the meta right now (even with the plot twist deck), and I feel this isn’t enough to push it up. This will most likely see play in some type of new midrange “deal damage to yourself” zoo with the vulture card and duskbat. Really excited for this one in that deck. 5/5
Yes, i love killing myself on this meta.
Riftcleaver is basically saying: “Hey, Remember Controlock or Handlock, where you also played some Restore Health Cards? Let’s bring it back!” And, yes, this is another version of Voodoo Doll, Expect you also have a 7/5 copy to it, don’t need to combo it with Mortal Coil. To sacrifice a bit of your health, but gain 12 stats as a Body, is arguably a good card, but how much Anti-Big Cards can you have? Maybe you only play 1 copy of this card. Maybe you go full Rambo and have 2 Voodoo Dolls and 2 Riftcleavers. Who knows. But one thing is for certain, that it is going to get Controlock and Handlock curious on where this card lands (Which is Probaply an Anti-Big Card). 4 Stars.
This needs some test, but i think could be viable in both aggro and control… in zoolock could be the late removal you need to stay in game + a body to keep pressure, maybe as a 1 copy.
More interested in this than the evil recruiter for sure…
“Light the fuses!”
When i saw the image on the reveal scheadule, i thought this was going to be a new take on Azari the Devourer 🙁
Let’s just remember that Obliterate was a card only obtained from the Lich King and Arfus. You couldn’t just put it in a deck because it was that powerful. 5/5.
Looks like they’re trying to build up Warlocks control base again.
I dig it.
7/5 body + Obliterate battlecry for 6 mana sounds great. Then again, Obliterate existed in a world where Warlock had access to truckloads of healing in Amethyst Spellstone + Bloodreaver Gul’dan; today’s handlock might not want this because they struggle mightily vs. face damage from aggro decks already, with few options for healing.
Zoo probably doesn’t want it because it’s too slow. Kibler’s Plot Twist Warlock has access to substantial amounts of healing in a control shell, but then still might not want Riftcleaver since it has no synergy with Betrug / Dorian + Plot Twist. Riftcleaver shows potential, but it’s not obvious to me which deck archetype wants this. 3/5
Just have to wait and see what the rest of warlock and neutral cards provides had to be something heal related we usually see 1 or 2 heal cards between either class or neutral. Atm only druid has a heal.
I’m far from certain Warlock will get good healing options. My impression is that Mage, Rogue, Hunter and (maybe) Warlock are just not supposed to have good healing / armor gain cards; they’re supposed to be aggro / midrange classes, so if you want to play a Control deck you should look elsewhere.
First up stat wise this is a 4 Mana 7/5 NICE.
For anyone not quick enough pls look at cards generated by lich King and arfus. Obliterate is a 2 cost spell with exact effect of this battlecry. So subtract cost of spell and you have a 4 cost 7/5 with a 2 cost spell on it.
On the note of this having the attack Obliterate. Exodia is that you?
I don’t like this card very much… 5/7 would be better stats that 7/5 and for the effect it seems very weak:
Aganist token and other aggressive decks a single removal like this card is pretty useless and without taunt is even worst. Aganist bigger treats you can’t use it because of the warlock lack of healings. Yes it could be used against Zilliax and Reborn minions but it will depend on if they will find or no a spot in the meta and even so what we’ve seen reborn minions al more like tokens so again: do we really need a 6 cost minion to do as single removal for a token?
This card just seems good, awkward stat line for a more controlling deck, but still handy effect and a reasonable body
Then again, I will play any removal card blizzard created in an effort to make a control deck, so maybe I’m too soft on it
Finally warlock seems to be getting some TLC
4/5
Tables, ladders and chairs ?
tender loving care

Good card when your considering its part of the warlock class. Vilespine was a staple in rogue during rotation as a 5 mana 3/4 which required a combo. This is a better statline with the same effect bit different drawback. Most turn 5 plays are probs zilliax or a 5 health minion which isnt too much for a warlock to take (especially considering zilliax has 2 health, you do that every turn anyway) solid card that could fit in zoo or control
Card good good card
very aggressive stat-line but a little expensive ill try it out in zoo as a late game card kind of like doomguard, you often had to trade with it against aggressive and mid range decks and this will be better at that plus it can remove pesky life steal minions. 4/5 because i think it will fit in the deck, but i dont think zoo will be that strong.
All around a good card, very good for killing things like Zilliax. Is it worth taking the damage for the body? Totally depends on how aggressive the meta is.
Good for destroying Reborn minions
Not bad. You can trade a small minion before destroy with this one to minimize the dmg to tour face.
