Rabble Bouncer Card Review
Another anti-Aggro card, but also a pretty weak one to be honest. In theory, you can drop it as a 0 mana 2/7, which is insanely strong – but realistically, how often you face a FULL board of minions on the opposing side? I’d say that not very often, Odd Paladin is just about the only deck that can achieve that consistently, and even it can’t if you’re trying to clear it ever now and then.
Even assuming the average scenario of 3 minions on the opposing side (I think that’s fair) against a board flood deck, this is a 4 mana 2/7. We already have a 4 mana 2/6 that doesn’t need any shenanigans and it’s called Stegodon. Oh, and it doesn’t see any play, because it’s pretty bad. This card would need at least 4 minions on the board to be great (and yes, a 3 mana 2/7 Taunt would be great). It’s a situation that happens regularly against board flood, every now and then against other Aggro, rarely against Midrange and almost never against Control. And at this point, I think that I’d rather have Mind Control Tech than a 2/7 Taunt – without high-roll MCT is a tiny bit weaker, but it can also high-roll into nearly immediate game win sometimes.
The meta would need to be absolutely dominated by board flood decks for this to be relevant, and even then, 2 Attack is a bit of a problem. 2 attack can be relevant on T1, maybe even T2, but the meta is pretty much dominated by 3 Health minions and not 2 Health minions. A lot of the minions could trade into it and still survive.
In theory, you could try to throw it into a Star Aligner deck and hope that your opponent plays a bunch of minions. You would however need a board with at least 6 minions so you could play both of those + Star Aligner, so that’s not very easy to achieve, especially since your opponent would play around it the moment he realizes that you’re running.
Right now, the only deck I could see this being played in is Shaman with Unstable Evolution. It would be played as Corridor Creeper 2.0 – of course the discount wouldn’t be permanent, but it would be a good card to drop when your opponent has a few minions and start evolving it.
Overall, it might see niche play as a tech card vs board flood decks, or maybe for some Evolve / Inner Fire shenanigans, but outside of that, I don’t think it’s good enough.
Card rating: 3/10
If your opponent has 4 or more minions, cornered sentry into 2 Rabble Bouncer Into star aligner is pretty good.
Is there any chance this could be good with Oakheart? It seems worse than dragon hatcher (when recruited) but probably much better to draw?
Other than odd pally tech, not great.
2.6/5
Don’t think it’s good. You can always play a Tar Creeper for 3 mana, which trades against 3 health minions.
If Rabble Bouncer were around during Pirate Warrior go in Standard, it would be a format all star. However, that level of intense aggression will likely never be repeated in Standard. It does need to be played at three mana for it to be worth playing, much like Second Rate Bruiser, but the stat distribution on the Bruiser was better for trading and clearing while this won’t always manage to kill opposing minions before it dies.
When or if this sees play, it’ll be as a release valve to force a format to slow down.
It would need 1 more attack to really be playable, because then it would kill a lot more minions, especially buffed silver hands
Well, against Odd Paladin, this can come out as early as turn three, so that isn’t necessarily a problem.
Yeah but it would enable it to kill many annoying minions and it would scale better in the late game. It would be able to kill hunters spellstone wolves, happy ghoul, eel, shredder, steward of darkshire, flametounge voidwalker, chaingang, buffed doubling imp, Malchezaars imp, warleader usw. sorry for wild examples, I play nothing else. Btw even shaman is nearly as annoying (and better) than odd pala
Of course if it had more attack, it would be better. At it’s current statline and the most probable price it’ll be played at, around three mana, it’s generally fine.
I bet this will be a staple for control decks. If not before rotation then without a doubt once Tarcreeper and Stonehill are gone.
I don’t believe a 4mana 2/7 would see play, which means that for this card to be good, there need to be on average more than 3 minions on your opponent’s board. Which is definitely not the case.
It’s ridiculously bad when compared to sea giant in particular.
WTF Literally every not deck would contain a 4 mana 2/7. It’s an autowin against aggro. This card is one of the best of the expention
4mana 2/6 is stegodon and nobody even thinks of playing it
4mana 1/7 is… mogushan warden
I don’t think 4mana 2/7 is great. Saronite is basically 4mana 4/6 taunt.
Instawin against aggro?
Ok, let’s say they have a 1/1, a 2/2 and a 3/3, total: 6/6 stats.
You play your 4mana 2/7 taunt
They play fungalmancer, trade, trade, face, they now have 3/1, 4/2, 2/2, 3/3, total: 12/8 stats.
So you end up with a worse situation on the board, and less health. I wouldn’t call it instawin. Actually, you’re probably losing that game.
Your right its not an autowin but lets compare to ironwood golem.
4 mana 3/6 with bad effect sees much play in combo, control druid. I would prefer 2/7 to 3/6 but thats situational of course.
You can’t just add saronites stats u wouldn’t say onixya is 14/14 for example cause she isn’t.
I am quite sure it will see play but we’ll see.
At least in oakharth decks it would be a solid 2 attack minion.
Ironwood golem only sees play because of oaken summons. It’s not a 4mana 3/6 taunt with downside, it’s a 4mana 3/6 taunt battlecry: gain 6 armor with upside: thins your deck (1).
If they don’t get it through oak summons, it’s actually horrible. You can check HS replay, look at mechathun druid for example, click the most played list, sort cards by drawn win rate, you’ll see that ironwood golem is the worst card by a huge margin.
Of course adding the stats isn’t perfect, but it’s a good approximation (when there’s no token synergy).
Playing it with oakheart is interesting, but usually the 2atk minion is dragon hatcher and that’s a lot more value that a 2/7.
Thank you for your answer. U convincet me not to rate this 5/5 but 3.5/5. I would play 1 anyway if boardspamming aggro decks occur.
This gets a stable. Remember my words if u now laugh and see it in every control deck in 2 month
If this were a 3/6 instead, I could almost agree with you, but with its current statline and that it can only ever be played reactively, it’ll never be even a quarter of what Giggling Inventor was.
Giggling was better no question. Why do u think 3/6 is better then 2/7 for taunt minions?
Trades better.
Tech card vs a heavy board spam meta.
This and Star Aligner?
When your opponent has a full board play 2 of these for free and then a star aligner for a clear LOL
lmao
Dude honestly I want to play this card because of your comment now
Star aligner is gonna be a thing this expansion, so many 7 health minions.
The real reason why they gave everyone a golden one lol
There needs to be at least three minions on the opponents board to be average value. I could see this finding its way into some kind of combo priest.
I mean this kinda destroys odd paladin (which I couldn’t be more happier about) but it’s not a good card against pretty much any other matchup.. as of now.
Shuffle Rogue FTW!
