This has a super strong effect but will harm your rez pool
In a resurrect deck, you’d probably only run 1 of them in order to not taint your res pool, but it’s really good in a zoo or tempo type deck. I may be biassed as a priest main, but this kind of card is really intriguing with Amet, the new legendary, and possibly in a star aligner deck, but that’s probably just a meme. Great card otherwise that will carry many archetypes. 5/5
You can add a bubble saying “for the memes” and hold his paw to another fun casual and costy priest deck.
It’s about as good as Onyx Bishop was, which wasn’t good enough to do anything for Pries. It doesn’t really fit any of the current archetypes. Priest can’t survive without playing minions early, and those minions (Pyro/Cleric/whatever) won’t be great revivals.
Onyx Bishop was 5 mana, that 1 mana discount matters and this one allso gives Reborn, wich makes a deathrattle minion really a pain to deal with.
Onyx Bishop had 3 more health. That matters too.
The primary target for Onyx Bishop was Injured Blademaster. Ideally, one got played on turn 3, died, was brought back to life with the 2-mana Resurrect spell, and then revived again on turn 5 with OB. This at least is a curve of reasonably stated minions. I assume that the primary target for this new card is still IBM. I certainly can’t think of any existing DR minion costing less < 4 mana that Priest has access to that is worth reviving.
Waiting till turn 6 to play Cairne or a Mechanical Welp is a pipe dream. The Priest will just die.
There is currently a mech priest deck that does that. Kibler is playing it. Anyway on turn 5 a 3-4 does not matter that much anymore since it dies to everything at that point. It’s just that 1 health minions get killed by hero powers, (or lackey’s now) Still unless a polymorph or silence is used what ever this thing brings back has to be killed twice. Any minion with taunt & divine shield would become a huge pain for an agro deck since it eats 4 atacks. I guess were lucky annoy-o-tron is in wild. XD
Amazing card! This will support Deathrattle and Control Priest a lot! If this summons a taunt it gets protected immediately. Broken card with reborn.. 5/5
Turn 2 Doomsayer. Turn 3 coin – Psychopomp. Turns 4 and 5 are completely locked out with a Reborn Doomsayer.
1/5 since the creature doesn’t have a pompadour.
Can someone remind me what happens when convincing infiltrator or Tortollan Shellraiser is given reborn?
Reborn is basically revive the minion with 1 health remaining like the pally secret it will still have the death rattle effect so basically with infiltrator this is same as saying summon 2 minions with death rattle kill an enemy minion. So obviously this is a good card depending on what is in your rezpool.
Like Doomsayer?
Actually a doomsayer isn’t to bad to RNG into depending on situation it nukes the field twice if opponent does nothing about it stalling 2 turns.
I’ve said this elsewhere, but: turn 2 Doomsayer, coin to Psychopomp on 3, Doomsayer locks the board through turn 5. Two card aggro destroyer. Am I wrong in thinking that would work?
I like this card’s design. Playing it does two powerful things right away: it resurrects a friendly minion and gives it Reborn, and it also puts an additional 3/1 body on the board. At the same time, this doesn’t lend itself to a resurrection-centric strategy like Big Priest or Wall Priest, because the 3/1 body pollutes your Resurrect pool; you want your Catrina Muerte resurrecting a 3/12 Witchwood Grizzly or a 5/12 Damaged Stegotron, not a 3/1 Psychopomp.
This card will be best, then, in a deck that’s not about resurrection effects- probably in Deathrattle Priest, due to the synergy of Deathrattle and Reborn. Hitting some of the bigger deathrattle minions like Mechanical Whelpling or Convincing Infiltrator with this battlecry would be ideal, but even hitting a humble Dead Ringer or EVIL Conscripter is still both good tempo and good value.
I’m not sure this is an auto-include in Deathrattle Priest decks because to maximize the effect of this card, you have to make a deck that didn’t used to care about its resurrect pool, start caring about its resurrect pool, which requires deckbuilding sacrifices in other areas- maybe you liked having Northshire Cleric and Wild Pyromancer and Madame Lazul in your Deathrattle Priest deck, and now you have to cut all of them for Psychopomp’s benefit. Is it worth it to cut them for a more consistent Psychopomp battlecry? I don’t think so. Is Psychopomp’s battlecry good enough if you hit a 3/2 body like Madame Lazul or Wild Pyromancer? Probably, yeah… but maybe you’ll resurrect the lackey that EVIL Conscripter gave you instead. 4/5
Every priest runs into the question should this be included for death rattle priest you would have to drop the lackey generator for this otherwise it’s basically same as if summoning mecharoo.
Big Priest actually doesn’t want this card. As a wild Big Priest player, I can say for sure that they don’t want a 3/1 in the Pool. I’ve had my fair share of summoning Barnes over and over again. The last thing I want in my deck is another dead resurrection minion. However, the deck that does want this is Deathrattle Priest. I always found Deathrattle Priest to be fun and I hope they print more synergistic cards for it so it can resurface. Sadly, without more support, 2/5.
My now Favorite Priest Card. You get 3 “Bodies” in total, with 2 bodies already in play, and then next one as one health. This is Awesome for Mech Priest, As well as your minions that have have Deathrattle, Passives (Such as Ysera or Vargoth), Rush, Taunt, and Divine Shield, So you do actually have enough variety to choose from. Wall Priest gained back some strength again because of this card, but I’m not too sure he’ll ever come back. But I will say that maybe something like Zoo Priest or Midrange Priest could actually be into Hearthstone because of this card.
Psychopomp LOVES getting his Health Buffed, such as Power Word: Shield, Extra Arms, and even Topsy Turvy if you have to. So have at it in buffing his health.
Maybe I’m just hyped up, and it needs to bump back down from 5 stars to 4, but this a Very Powerful Card for Preist, and it dosen’t like Mass Res nor does it like being played without someone that died before him, but nonetheless do not sleep on this card.
P.S. Dragon Priest is not Strong enough. Yes He does have a dragon but it’s not enough and it’s a 7 mana 4/9, compared to Warrior’s 5 Mana 5/5 that gives you 5 Armor if you have another dragon in your health.
To everyone who don’t give this card 5 Star Rating.
to be clear, if you coin out Zilliax for example, this card is 4 Mana 3/1 wich resurrect Zilliax with reborn in the following turn.
so 4 Mana 3/1 + Double Zilliax, this is completely nuts, who care for the resurrect pool if you can have this fucking value ?
Can you imagine how great this card is if you hit Mechanic Whelp or Catrina?
even if you hit Loot Hoarder it would be worth it
Solid card – can build a deck easily around it 4/5
Really bad for resurrection decks, having a 3/1 do nothing body in the pool is just awful, BUT, this might work just great with Deathrattle cards as they gain Reborn, that could be some good value, sadly there are no good deathrattles in standard, will have to wait for more cards to be revealed.
3/5 Atm.
It’s so funny how many good cards appear that would have been really valuable in one rotation AFTER it’s been moved to wild. Quest priest would love this card.
I mean, preist like revive.
It does that.
4/5 in wild
1/5 in standard
Why is it good on wild?
Eternal Servitude is sooo much better in wild.
Well that looks like an auto include for death rattle priest decks.
Cards this can pull to piss you off. Zilliax, Catrina, Convincing infiltrator, Prophet Velen, Zerek, Mechanical Whelpling. Do I need to go on? Because those are cards that would be really annoying to see get tagged with reborn.
Some of these interactions don’t sound too powerful though. The difference between a Catrina Muerte or Prophet Velen with Reborn, and one without Reborn, is that one with Reborn has to be killed and then pinged by your opponent, like Divine Shield but in reverse order. It’s a nice little bonus, but it’s a much smaller boost than giving reborn to some of the other cards you mentioned, like Zilliax, Convincing Infiltrator or Mechanical Whelpling.
Wow!, I really like that way of thinking about reborn.
For Velen it was more the fact for 4 Mana you got back a big cost minion and you could possibly combo it with one of the cards to change your healing to dmg for that turn. The others are more helpful in comparison the bit with catrina is more annoying because the fact that even when regular summoned it’s a threat this bring it back at 4 Mana and you have to be able to hit it again after kill. Which has decent chance of end of turn triggered twice.
There are better things in wild, but I guess it’s cute…
