Princess Talanji Card Review
In theory, an effect like that can be a massive tempo swing. Even just 2 bigger minions or 3-4 smaller ones means that you basically flood the board and you force your opponent to play a board sweeper (if he has one) or he loses the game. But I don’t think that the card will be particularly good, because it forces Priest to run some… suboptimal cards. And even then, it’s not that consistent.
You see, while Priests have some ways to get minions that didn’t start in their deck (e.g. Cloning Device, Thoughtsteal, Curious Glimmerroot), most of those cards are generally pretty bad (Cloning Device) or won’t consistently give you what you need (Glimmerroot). If you want to go for a really long game plan, you can also play Archbishop Benedictus, and then hoard a lot of minions and play Talanji… but that’s not the best play either, because you play right into your opponent’s AoE.
So, to make the long story short – the effect is rather difficult to utilize without putting sub-optimal cards in your deck, it’s just bad against Aggro (because it’s slow and you won’t likely steal anything meaningful from them anyway) and against Control you’d often rather play those minions one by one to not play into their AoE sweepers they’re just waiting to use and would be dead in their hand otherwise (or forced on 1-2 minions).
In theory, I could see this card in a deck devoted to effects that “steal” cards, discover them or give you random cards, e.g. Glimmerroot, Stonehill Defender, Bone Drake. But this entire deck would be rather clunky if it would rely on a single big board swing to win the game. Technically, pulling let’s say 20 mana worth of stats from your hand for 8 mana is great, but I don’t think that it would be consistent enough.
Card rating: 3/10
Interesting meme deck take this and run with benedictus in a deck similar to priest mechathun.
Runs alot of draw power so you will empty out your deck and copy theirs. Nothing more meme worthy than your opponent dying to their own minions.
Hmm if this makes it into Whizbang the Wonderfuls decks. Then I assume it will work on all the minions.
This, plus the spirit and the loa is pushing a clone gallery Big Priest. Once the spellstones rotate, maybe before, this core will be the new maly velen combo starter
Or you can just play the Obsidian Statue discovered by Stonehill Defender. That by itself is probably good enough.
While this card is not exceptional and requires a lot of support I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s potentially game winning, if not at least game swinging and as mentioned in wild format in the proper deck it’s down right nasty…
Hahaha good meme xd
3.4/5
Haters gonna hate, but personally 4/5 for Princess Talanji’s deck (even if not meta) defining potential. I’d definitely think about crafting it.
Talanji single-handedly gives a great focus to a thief priest style deck, or indeed any deck that might end up with a couple of new minions in the first 10 or so turns, which there’s plenty of support for on curve. Just looking at existing cards, in priest there’s 6 unique cards at 5 mana or less that support it well, and neutrals such as shallow gravedigger, stonehill defender, weaponized pinata, and bone drake.
The issue with all these value cards is they sacrifice tempo and on-board presence, and you still have to play the new cards themselves. Talanji allows you to realise the value and counteract the tempo you might have lost in a big turn 8 swing play. All you need is just a couple of semi-decent new minions in hand, let alone anything like obsidian statue, which is a common draw for stonehill in priest.
Talanji is then far better then Tess in the first half of a game given your not restricted to opposing class cards, but can include neutrals, and you don’t need to have actually played the new cards first. Talanji clearly becomes weaker in the later game, particularly if your hand starts to empty, however the card generating value of many of the cards in this deck is such that this wouldn’t actually be that big an issue.
This card is then a pretty powerful and fun top off for a midrange-control thief/value priest deck, which is even better for being composed of primarily common and rare cards, after all you can borrow your opponent’s legendaries if you need to.
As a person who plays a lot of wild I’m super excited to see this card. Finally some payoff for using cards that steal cards from your opponents deck. For a long time priest had been a boring class I personally dont mind my favorite class getting bad cards as long as they’re fun. (Not to say this is a bad card, actually very powerful in wild especially with dragonOP)
Copy*
Priests copy cards. They don’t steal them.
Wait I thought every class would get one beast legendary, how come priest doesn’t get one?
Loa is not necessary a beast.
Priest’s loa is Bwonsamdi
Interesting, I see how it is now
No… I was really looking forward to Beast Priest this expansion
but we got zombies!!, zombie should be a tribe tho
No. One Loa legendary. Loa != beast, it can be beast, it can be just troll.
Love how you used a code explain that lmao @Beryb
This card is sick in Wild deathrattle quest priest or dragon priest
Princess Talanji could maybe work if it summons at least two mid-cost minions consistently. The Spirit and the Loa for the class could work towards that, but the cards they produce and search for already cost one anyway. You’re not saving much in that case.
I can’t think of any cards that could really be used to consistently pull that off in a meaningful way or by turn eight. I know there’s a lot of copy effects in Priest, but they’re all rather slow or random. Obviously, the ceiling is very high on the card, but the floor is probably a bit lower than the ceiling is high.
Control match-ups are where this sort of effect would be pulled off the most often, but it just so happens to be the match-up that will be most readily reacted to with a board clearing effect. Granted, then we could discuss the applicability of following up such an occurrence with the Diamond Spellstone, but we also be discussing games that are going on for thirty turns.
While the Lich King isn’t anywhere near as flashy or potentially powerful, you are still better off playing it over Talanji. The average result of the Lich King is just consistently better than this.
Alright bros, here’s the deal.
Step 1 (T10): cloning gallery + dead spirit (this legendary is one of the minions in the gallery)
(their turn): hope ur spirit lives
Step 2 (T11): kill ur bOis (if not already dead) and play new 7/7 dead guy (which will draw this card), then play this card
Step 3: ???? (play second spirit for extra value)
Step 4: profit
Wow!! Epic plan my bro!
You should’ve changed your name if you didn’t want to come off as that guy who likes his own comments.
rofl, rekt

Priest in RR eels like Shaman in KFT and KnC. Murlocs, freeze, Overload, Evolve, Totems… It’s too all over the place. And then you have paladin or mage, they have a whole cycle of cards that synergize perfectly for a goal: to heal a ton or deal a lot of ping damage respectively. Those classes, we know are going to be at least all right because they have a clear goal to it. These cards, I don’t even know how they’re going to end up working, and I know it’s going to just be a meme… 0/5.
Bad card, not enough (good) cards for Priest to make this work.
this card perfectly fits in Deathrattle Priest
i love it
Priest is trying to be too many things this expansion, will ended up being nothing.
Anyone know if this works with Chameleos?
yes
this+ holy water has so much potential
and there are some spell that priest can fill his hand with minions from enemy deck and hand this can be so crazy
I don’t think a five mana spell that only deals four damage will ever be useful, no matter what combination you plan on using it with.
A new tool for dirty priest. Hurray
where is Priest getting all these cards to summon with it?
Cloning the opponent’s deck, using Spirit of the Dead to shuffle copies of dead minions into your own deck, a couple of cards that generate minions in your hand… None of these are good options. Talanji will be good for highlight reels on youtube, but she won’t be part of a competitive deck.
Priest decks are going nowhere…
Priest is only good in wild.
Elise, Bonedrake, Glimmeroot, Benedictus, Crystaline Oracle, Zola, Chameleos (?), Yesera, Death’s Grip.
Doubt it will be more than a fun meme. But there are enough reasonable cards supporting it as a potentially high tempo play in a value dragon deck after your psychic scream turn.
Cloning Device
Devour Mind
Holy Water
Mind Vision
Any cards from Spirt of the Dead
Bone Drakes (Dragon off the Deathrattle)
Ysera (Laughing Sister/Emerald Drake)
and any minion from Archbishop Benedictus
Stonehill Defender, Zola and Elise for example.
Automated piñata is strong with this one
Weaponized*
Wow, Tess Greymane got a fancy hat.
It’s a real shame really,
Tess should’ve gotten spiky hair to go with the rest of team -zombies- Spiky Hair!
But at least there’s synergy between her, Spirit of Sonya Shadowdancer, and Bwonsamdi’s Unstable element.
The potential is big…
and the floor is rather low.
*spams legendaries*
