This card exisiting is more than welcome as opposed to it not existing at all. Rating cards should be viewed on it’s single value in a deck, not to be compared with multiple cards and cost etc.
4 mana Blessing of Kings provides 4/4. This provides the same plus 2 mana for both taunt and divine shield. Divine shield is well worth it since rating the mentioned is very hard – it can be rated as 1 mana or 10 mana depending on the state of the board. A single divine shield can block a huge single damage, even if that damage is 20.
Don’t sleep on this card, this has potential.
…Well, is as good as promoting a card to the annoy-o familly
No one has mentioned that this is some much needed support for the awesome Tiger Spirit! I’ve been waiting for more Paladin cards that encourage making Tiger Tokens, don’t sleep on em they’ll pounce!
Me too!
Not quite as good as Spikeridged Steed maybe, but this does offer the same discount on Shirvallah and adds some survivability if a more control-oriented paladin were to become a thing.
Maybe you want this on Immortal Prelate, but it’s otherwise too expensive for what it does. 2/5
Compared to kings, you’re paying 2 more mana to give a minion divine shield and taunt. Basically on ar with the new paladin card they added to classic. No thanks. Rip paladin this expansion. 1/5
You’re giving bad ratings to every card…
This isn’t overcoated for what it does though this cost EXACTLY what it would cost to do same effect with 3 other spells. BoK gives +4/4, HoP gives divine shield, and there was a spare parts spell that gives a minion taunt. 4+1+1=6 so if this had costed more it would be over costed less and it would have been cheaper. But giving a card 3 spells worth of power in 1 is great.
Want a comparison ok for 6 Mana with 3 cards blessing of kings + 1 Mana give minion taunt spare part spell + hand of protection. Basically this is 3 spells all put into one card 2 class spells and one RNG spell.
Would you pay 2 more mana just to get taunt divine shield? I wouldn’t.. But this is pretty neat for trading I guess but that’s about it.. 2.5/5
Now, you could argue that this is basically a “Sunwalker” Stats buff, since it’s a +4/+4 and it cost 6 mana, and I was almost going to write this card as an Automatic 1 Star, but then I released that Mech Paladin is still a thing, so maybe they could go crazy by putting in Pharaohs’ Blessing on a Mech like Egg or a Zilliax that Attacked, and really make a scary wall of stats that you have to get around on. I still don’t think otherwise that it would see any play whatsoever if it wasn’t for Mech Paladin, but who knows, maybe this card can surprise me.
If I had the opportunity to buff this card, I would just set the Mana from 6 to 5. going to give it, 3 Stars, because it got me from denying it’s power would even happen to getting me curious.
its official : Pharaoh > King
next time: Blessing of a Caesar: 8 mana – give minion 8, 8, divine shield, taunt, lifesteal
The natural comparison is 4 mana Annoy-O-Module, which also gives Divine Shield and Taunt but only a 2/4 and only to mechs. Annoy-O-Module can be played stand alone though and it’s magnetic attachment synergizes with Kangor’s Endless Army. Galvanizer can also lower the mana cost, and Glowstone technician can buff it in hand. Pharaohs blessing can be attached to any minion, and i think the real potential value from this comes with how sticky reborn (and deathrattle) minions are going to be in combination with the new quest. The new pally quest also gives a quick way to create a 2/2 of whatever minion Pharaoh’s Blessing is played on.
The main issue is 6 mana is slow (barring a prismatic lens build but there are cards that cheat out more value than this), it requires a minion on board, and will be competing against potentially better midrange archetypes.
That said if there is a quest midrange paladin build that develops synergy with this, or some sort of more control style build that relies on rush minions and lightforged blessing to give lifesteal, this card could be intriguing. Midrange hunter has already shown the potential value of lifesteal rush with vicious scalehide into dire frenzy, and this would be a minion with divine shield/taunt to stack on top of it. Still it works in hunter because duplicates are added to deck, it is easy to draw, and you only have to do the combo once to get 3 extra copies of it for 2 mana. Paladin of course though is a much more difficult set-up for more mana. But this is the kind of creative thinking you will have to do for this card to work.
For now it seems like a 2/5 with at least some theoretical potential.
I already know what unit I would toss this on Immortal Prelate. Slow as heck to set up for but man a 5/7 divine shield taunt that cost 8 Mana total and from then on when dies goes into deck and is playable again for 2 Mana. Might be useful if end up in late game and decks are thinning. It’s a card to consider playing in a divine wrath deck though.
Way too slow in my opinion, dang Paladin did so well last 2 expansions it seems like they’re giving them bad stuff to balance out the meta, sunreaver spy and mysterious blade are probably the biggest reason as well as thekal
2/5 but might be good if you’re running the quest and make a 2/2 copy of a minion
Where are my R E B R O N minions. Paladin is not looking good this expansion. 3/5

haha
Will probably see play in Arena. For constructed, you’d need some kind of value multiplier… a way to duplicate the minion for 4 mana or less or a Zul’jin type effect. I don’t think normal Paladin mechanics do enough to support this especially when it has to compete with Magnetic cards in the currently popular mech paladin archetype
It’s not exactl spikeridged steed, but it’s functional enough.
Its like Annoy-o-Tron + BoK in spell form. Will definitely see play in any viable midrange paladin deck.
