Omega Mind Card Review

I’m on the fence about this card, don’t really know if it’s good or not. On the one hand, it’s very powerful late game card. Playing it with Lightning Storm or Volcano (it’s important to note that it usually won’t leave a body behind if you play it with Volcano) heals you for A LOT. But the Battlecry only activates on Turn 10, which is really late.

You definitely do not replace Healing Rain with this one. You need healing in the mid game so often when playing a slow Shaman deck like Shudderwock build, and Healing Rain always works – you can play it on Turn 5, 8 OR 10. Even Hallazeal the Ascended could be used on Turn 8 with Storm, this can’t. And even Hallazeal turned out to be only okay card, not as impressive as it seemed. You could run Omega Mind as something extra, for even more late game healing, but is it really that necessary?

Another problem is that the only Shaman deck that would want to run it right now – Shudderwock Shaman – runs Prince Keleseth, so adding this would mean taking the Keleseth out. Ideally, if you take Keleseth out, you want to add more than one 2-drop, but the thing is that slow Shaman doesn’t have many great options.

I will probably add one copy to my Malygos build, but that’s about it. I don’t think that Shudderwock Shaman will play it, and non-Keleseth Shaman builds might use one copy as an extra late game healing. Maybe not even always – it will be more of a tech card if you face a meta in which more healing is useful. It’s okay, but nothing special.

Card rating: 5/10

So why didn’t the second volcano heal? Does it not count as you casting it?

i think it should have worked as it doesn’t say spells you play have lifesteal this turn or something along those lines, it just says your spells and the second copy is still technically a spell

maybe it didn’t trigger because omega mind died. The wording doesn’t support this theory I know

More likely it doesn’t count as beign casted by you, just as yogg spells don’t trigger auctioneer.

it is a battlecry why didn’t second volcano heal? it should work. doesn’t matter if Omega Mind stay alive or die in that turn. It should work for all spells in that turn

What a great card to have in a deck with Hagatha. I’m betting it will see play at some point.

Why Hagatha in particular since Omega Mind wouldn’t give her Battlecry Lifesteal?

The aoe spells she potentially generates could heal you and give you board control. This card I think just adds to the late game value Hagatha already brings to the table.

          Okay.
It just seems like such a situation is fairly rare in Shaman given just how many spells there are in the class and how few AOE damage spells there are in comparison.

How many control / two turn combo decks can be countered by this? The only situation were this is good is vlocano alexsraza in mind blast priest an off meta deck anyway which is just free 23 body other than healing rain – won’t be run over kele but if keleseth didn’t exist it could be run just BC of OK t2 potential

First off, Omega Mind is just not needed in a class with Healing Rain.

Hallazeal the Ascended saw play in control Shaman decks since combining it with Elemental Destruction against a minion based deck garnered a full heal with Hallazeal potentially surviving (assuming no Spell Damage cards were on your board) to see the next turn.

Omega Mind is easier to combo with AOE damage like Lightning Storm once turn ten comes around, but similar to the Omega Medic, against aggressive decks, it won’t really be necessary since the aggro deck should’ve run out of steam by then and against control decks, the healing it offers is irrelevant. Midrange strategies haven’t really been viable since Knights of the Frozen Throne, and unfortunately, this is the kind of card that would only really be relevant in such a match-up.

Could be good, but health usually is not as relevant after you get to 10 mana, so the game will be decided by the more than likely.

Jeez, give shudderwock shaman even more sustain
This deck is really destroying hearthstone for me and now they keep on upgrading it.

All the good, fun an tactical control decks will have no chance anymore and people will just play aggro to defeat shudderwock decks -> game ruined

      Glad you said it too.

Shudderwock Shaman tends to win against value oriented deck anyway, and those are the sorts of decks that would normally get to turn ten. The only decks that I could see this shifting the winrate against would be decks like Witchwood Token Druid, since that deck wins through weathering the Lightning Storms and Volcanos to eventually break through Shudderwock Shaman’s defenses and a few extra points of healing just might be a little too much for them t deal with.

Plus, playing this would mean the deck has to cut out Keleseth, which outside of Shudderwock itself and its combo pieces, is the best card in the deck. I don’t think you’ll have to worry too much about it.

Lastly, if people weren’t playing Shudderwock Shaman to counter control decks, they’d be playing Kingsbane Rogue instead, and its winrates against control decks are very comparable to Shudderwock Shaman’s.

How so? Shaman’s best spells to give lifesteal to, Lightning Storm and Volcano, would be ones you’d likely play before turn ten.

Matrocity! Metro Man! Your weakness is copper?

Seriously this is a nice card. Very much worth dropping keleseth in shudder because keleseth was for surviving aggro buffing your saronites. This makes volcano a 7 mana deal 12-15 damage randomly split among all minions. Summon a 2/0-3. Restore 15 health to your hero. Lightning storm against a full board is deal 2-3 damage to all enemy minions. Restore 14-21 health to your hero.

Not to mention 1 Mana bounced shudders will give you more volcanoes, lightning storms, and healing rains if you have Hagatha up, along with making them lifesteal. Standard Reno Shudder Shaman that can run 2 of everything. 5 stars out of 1.

      Yes

    • Tarvos
      July 30, 2018 at 12:34 PM

If you drop Shudderwock having 10 mana then yes it will trigger the effect

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      July 30, 2018 at 12:47 PM

It will, but then again, you usually don’t cast any spells on your Shudderwock turn (not enough mana), so it’s quite pointless.

      • Blorp
        July 30, 2018 at 12:59 PM

Unless you bounce back a shudderwock, in which case you will have potentially endless healing, but then you also likely won the game already.

I AM… THE DARKEST… NIGHT. A little more conditional but with Hallazeal you would usually get off only one spell since it wasn’t gard to remove. Plus you can actually combine volcano with this or even the new shaman legendary.

  13. GlosuuLang
    July 30, 2018 at 12:11 PM

Perfect, now Shudderwock Shaman has an extra Healing Rain when combining this with Volcano… Not to mention Shudderwock will also trigger this when played, and get out of reach easily. I hate Shudderwock, and this could make the deck better. 4/5 stars for strength, 1/5 stars from my personal view because I will hate the card.

      July 30, 2018 at 12:48 PM

Shudderwock Shaman would need to drop Keleseth to play this, not sure if worth it.

      • GlosuuLang
        July 30, 2018 at 1:46 PM

I think it will be worth it. The extra stats from Keleseth in Shudderwock are much less impactful than in Aggro/Tempo decks. Keleseth is run simply because Shaman doesn’t have a 2-drop with a good Battlecry or that fits nicely in the deck (like this one). But yeah, we will need to wait and see.

        • Soup And Salad
          July 30, 2018 at 2:49 PM

That doesn’t stop Keleseth from being the single best card to have in the deck’s opening hand. Plus, the stats it gives does matter for Chain Gang, especially in the aggressive match-ups.

          • GlosuuLang
            July 30, 2018 at 3:13 PM

Well, yes, Keleseth is what it is, if you could guarantee it in your opening hand, then all decks except Spell Hunter would include it. But there’s Shudderwock decks out there with Wild Pyromancer, for example, so Keleseth is by no means an auto-include.

in wild i added reno to my shudderwack deck this card is not even close to reno jackson

      • GlosuuLang
        July 30, 2018 at 1:48 PM

Well duh, Reno is one of the best cards in the game. Antique Healbot can’t compare to it either, and it’s still a great card.

Looks like the lifesteal is disabled after the minion dies (in the gameplay video there’s no healing from the second volcano)

Seems like a bug considering it’s a battlecry effect.

    • Xander Raidon
      July 30, 2018 at 12:23 PM

It doesn’t. The second volcano was casted by a minion, therefore it was not considered “your spell”.

    July 30, 2018 at 12:08 PM

I just kinda feel like there’s gonna be so many combo decks this expansion, that lategame healing will be kinda worthless. Maybe I’m wrong though.

    • Piterno
      July 30, 2018 at 1:23 PM

Odd pally and odd rogue lose nothing, so people will still play those. Healing and taunts will still be relevant, even if they are just cards you play to open hand space against control, which they already are.
