Omega Assembly Card Review

The card is amazing. By far the best of Omega cards so far. I’d even say that it’s one of the better cards revealed so far. Discovering a Mech for 1 mana is your Standard Raven IdolHallucinationBlazing Invocation etc. 1 mana discovers are quite common and get one relatively often. Some of them were good enough to be playable, others were just slightly too weak, but I have to say that in general, those cards are okay in the right deck.

So, Discovering a Mech for 1 mana is average. The card would be like a 5/10, it might see some play in Mech Warrior, but it wouldn’t be exciting. However, the Omega effect makes it way, way more powerful. In the long games versus slow decks, when you really need value, you get 3 random Mechs for 1 mana (getting all 3 options from Discover is basically getting 3 random cards – except you will never get duplicates). That’s an amazing value tool. Most of the high value cards make you lose tempo, but not this one. 1 mana is often irrelevant so late into the game and you can squeeze it into most of your turns. If you’ve played Dr. Boom, Mad Genius already, then those three Mechs will also have Rush. If Mech Warrior will be a thing, this card will 100% see play. To be honest, the Omega value is so good that it might see play even outside of the Mech decks. Even without extra synergies, getting 3 random Mechs in the late game for just 1 mana is a great refill.

    giving warrior mechs makes alot more sense then hunter and paladin but still not helping warrior find its true identity. easy way out.

    This is a nice value tool in the mech deck that Dr. Boom wants to go in, and you can use it in a desperate situation in any point of the game. The extra two cards are appreciated after turn 10, although yeah, you have to be lucky that the other 2 Mechs are actually good. I’d rate this 3.5/5 stars.

      This card would be terrible in an Aggro deck. You don’t plan your games around Turn 10, because you almost never get there.

    This card just gains you free advantage during late game. You could get three cards off of it and gain a free +2

    This card is actually quite nuts. Even if you just play it it’s pretty decent, but later in game? Crazy good. Now let’s just hope the mechs that are released are actually good

    It is nice to see a card that can be a plus two in card advantage exist I suppose. We still need to see more mechs to tell if they’re really going to be that good, but I don’t think there will be a better value oriented card to come around anytime soon.
    Now hopefully something will be done with Shudderwock. I personally don’t think the card itself needs to be touched but if say Grumble worldshaker were changed to only affect friendly elementals or at least only make the elementals cost 1, then there could be hope for value oriented decks once again.

    Calling it now, this card will generate more insane value for Tess than it ever will in a Warrior deck. Burgle Rogue already laughs at any value deck by playing THEIR value MULTIPLE TIMES. Against this mech-rush-value archetype Blizz is trying to push for warrior you just let them play the field and use your free warrior boardclears until they run out of deck, in the worst case scenario. Most of the time you play Tess you get a couple minions, moderate armor, and a hand shuffle, in addition to the deck spiders, so you don’t even need boardclears.

    Card is too slow and gets instantly stomped by Rogue/Priest thievery in constructed, probably an excellent Arena card to have in your deck against anything but Priest, which is 70% of slow decks you face in arena.

      You do realize the only positive winrates for Tess Rogue and Thief Priest are basically against a couple of those value oriented deck? A few like Cube Warlock, Even Warlock, and Taunt Druid have match-ups that are pretty edged in their favor. Anything aggressive in the slightest would slaughter both and combo decks like Malygos Druid and Shudderwock Shaman don’t give much of a crap either.

      This card existing in one of the least played classes for the last year will no make either deck more viable.

    I like it. I like the discover mechanics. Its great arena card. Discover mechanics are always good. Its not really a 1drop card though. You don’t want it in your starting hand since its mostly a dead card on turn one. You wouldn’t really want to use it right away. But other than that its something you would like to top deck. disoceverign a mech in midgame could give you some magnetic/ charge options and at 10 mana its amazing.
    In the past cards like cabal courier were extreamly good top decks and not something you would keep in your mulligan. Descent omega card. May be the best omega card so far.

    Mech seems like it can only be good early game/aggro or midrange. Mech play at 10 mana dosent seem very good, weak and slow will get rekt by other true late game decks at 10 mana this card hype beasting

      They’re clearly gearing Warrior up to be a Mech control deck. A huge part of their incentive to play the archetype is Dr. Boom, who doesn’t come out until turn 7. This essentially reads “1 mana: add 3 removal spells to your hand that leave minions behind.”

    Ehm, the advantage of discover is that you can pick the best ONE. So at 10 mana, you get 1 shitty mech, 1 average mech, and a good mech. But those two other cards that are less playable clod in your hand, giving you a potentiel full hand problem….

    But yes, it’s the best discover a card cycle card until now. In arena this is one of the best top decks at 10 mana and being low on cards. But in constructed chances are high that a control war is allready holding like 7 cards.

      My guess is, that Mech Warrior wants to play for pressure/tempo against slower Control decks as a win condition, similar to Even lock right know, but without 1 mana Lifetap. In this case the card would makes sence.

      It’s still a plus two in card advantage in a mech oriented class that can at least gives the worst of mechs rush for one mana. Hand clogging would probably not be an issue given how magnetic works and the number of cheap mechs there are currently.
      Even regular control Warriors might play this since it can be in essence a mini un’goro pack.

        An un’goro pack has mostly 1 legend or more in it. So the quality of the un’goro packs is higher. And control warriors dont allways run elise. It’s an optional card for them.

          There are a quite a few bad legendaries in Un’Goro, probably about as many good as bad, at least for a Control Warrior, so the quality on the Un’Goro isn’t always going to be higher than three random mechs. Additionally, the cards that can be gained though Omega Assembly can be gained instantly rather than having to be waited on until the Un’Goro pack ends up in your hand.
          Either way, the main idea of the Un’Goro pack and this card is that both are a cheap source of late game value that, when played, will probably edge the game in your favor.

    1 mana, get a card. Pretty nice on its own! The mech pool will be small, but probably consistent in that way, so using this on non turn 10 will be alright.

    10 mana, GENERATE 3 cards, though? Yeah, that’s pretty goddamn good, regardless if if even have a second one. 5/5 this will be a staple in ANY Warrior deck in this meta.

        Since Shudderwock is a combo deck it already puts a warrior control deck at a disadvantage. But this control deck seems like it could be pretty aggressive late game. I don’t think we’ll know for sure until release.

          No, we need to see a lot more. The thing is that Shudderwock already does the anti-aggro approach very well and has complete inevitability, which is a big factor in why Control Warrior is struggling right now. Control Mech Warrior will have to be able to pressure Shamans as well as fend off aggro just as well in order to have a chance. If they CAN do that, then they’ll probably have a presence.

            Exactly this. Card is very good but 3 random mechs in the late game (even with ‘Hero Boom’) do nothing against a deck like Shudderwock.

    Between this card, and Dr. Boom, I am very much looking forward to this expansion now! I’m still not impressed with that whole magnetic thing, I still don’t see the advantage to it.

      The advantage is the same as running Blessing of Kings instead of a 4 mana 4/4.

        To expand on Solus’s very correct statement, it’s the advantage of running BoK instead of a 4 mana 4/4 except when you have no minion to buff you still have the option to drop the 4 mana 4/4 instead. VERY useful.

    Good late game card and still fine to play at any stage of a game. The question that remain now is how well would a Control Warrior be in the Boomsday meta.

      This is a very fair point. If the boomsday meta is the same as the current witchwood meta. Very control heavy. Than this card is bonkers. The limited availability of mechs makes your pool very specific so you get better things more often because of power creep. (They would never print a harvest bot in the current game. To weak.)

    Decent! Exactly, what slow Midrange needs. Turn 1 play into curve filler into insane value on turn 10. I’m not sure about Mech Warrior’s viabilty, yet, but this does help.
