This plus Time Rip is a very simple, 8 mana value-tempo play that destroys an enemy threat, you gain it on a delay, adds a random priest minion to your hand, and invokes your galakrond.
I changed my rating to 5 stars. Comparing this card to Faceless is stupid. A better comparison (as was said) is Shredder. Except this one is 1 mana less. And can summon a better minion. Sure, it’s worse if you’re opponent doesn’t have any minions, but how often would that happen? Just the mere comparisons to one of the most broken cards in the game (when it was in standard) means this one is 5 stars.
It doesn`t matter what you think – cause you can’t
Underrated, just because it doesn’t fit into a current deck doesn’t mean it’s trash. At worst it’s 3/4 stats worth of stats for 3 mana at best it’s a monster minion plus the 3/3 for 3 mana if it isn’t silenced.
The problem with this card is its battlecry.
If you could give it reborn, or ressurect it with Psychopomp, and still get its deathrattle, it would be a awesome legendary card.
But with the battlecry condition, you can only activate its deathrattle once and pollute your ressurection pool…
Tempo play for Priest. Problem is, Priest doesn’t need tempo plays.
Besides that, if big decks or deathrattle decks will become the norm, the card obviously goes up in value, because copying a Kalecgos, an (Classic) Ysera or something like Convincing Infiltrator might be good in control mirrors.
After giving it a tought, I really don’t see why players see this card as bad. It is obviously very good and versatile midrange/tempo card when copying anything with at least 2/2 stats. The only question is what kind of deck will want to use this. My guess would be some kind of midrange deathrattle based deck, perheaps with a dragon package since dragons have always been more tempo oriented.
I had quite some success with tempo deathrattle deck in pre-wild event meta, when the deck was very underrated in my opinion.
This card plus the way nerfed duskbreaker kinda tells me we will get some deathrattle activators for priest maybe next expansion.
Love the art
Card is bad tho
Everyone when blizzard makes a less powerful prince taladram:
You weren’t supposed to do that
2.5/5
Even if you only target, like, a random 3/3 it’s a strong play. But just being a ‘strong play’ doesn’t cut it for Priest, who has pretty narrowly focused gameplans. The mere fact that this clunks up your Mass Revive/Katrina/Psychopomps are probably enough that this won’t see play. The only exception I can think of is if Priest gets a control deck that would love yoinking a specific lategame minion their opponents like to play.
True
Basically the question is if this works exactly like Moat Lurker or will it be summoned to your side. Basically the wording of this card is just confusing based on prior cards. Since the only clue is says summon instead of resummon.
If you are summoning a new minion, would it also trigger that minion’s battlecry? Even still, it seems clunky and awkward to utilize in a consistent fashion.
Here it is, the cheap legendary for priest that does copying/stealing/mindfuck shaenanigans that none will care about!
Madam Lazul, Chameleos, Zerek…. it honestly has to stop. The thing I don’t like about this card is that you have no control over what kind of minions your opponent will play: while the effect is really good for its cost and you can easily compare it with the Piloted Shredder, there is no Priest deck that would actually want this. Priest is a super narrow class, and this kind of cards never find any kind of play. I hope I am wrong.
“Summon a new copy of it” FOR WHOM ?!?!?
Summoning a new copy of it means that I assume is, let’s say you have something like an Injured Blademaster. It’s going to get full health. And speaking of which, by new copy, it means the full health. So if you have a Damaged minion, it’s going to go for the full health. This plays very similarly to the between of Mindgames, and Seance, expect that you can choose what minion you want. But, I don’t think either of those cards has even considered playing those cards for competitive play, so I feel like Mindflayer Kaahrj also sadly falls for this. Don’t get me wrong, a Seance on a body is great, but especially when it’s a Legendary Minion, makes it that much more disappointing to me in my opinion. Maybe I just don’t know what it’s like to have a Seance on a body, but I have to give it 3 Stars. You could argue, that it’s just a 3 Mana 3/3 “Draw a Minion”, but I still feel like it could have been at least 2 new copies into your hand, or something, you know?
Erhm what? First of all it says “choose enemy minion” … 😀 So you can’t even use the effect to gain benefit from something like Injured Blademaster.. This card is incredibly bad.
Moreover it has nothing to do with seanse, it summons the chosen minion when it dies rather than putting a copy in your hand after all. I repeat, this card is incredibly bad. No matter how you look at it…
3 mana 3-3 isn’t bad, and this potentially has a lot of upside, especially when there are a bunch of big dragons running around. However, I have no idea what deck would want this, so I think it’ll mostly be something you’re happy to generate from Galakrond.
This expansion just blows my mind. The power level, man.
At least priests aren’t being pushed further in to resurrect play styles.
I don’t get it. I’d understand if this card could somehow take the opponent’s minion down with it but a 3/3 doesn’t seem to matter much. It should have taunt or poisonous to make it work. Unless priest gets some deathrattle trigger cards or something, this won’t do anything. The fact that you can’t target your own minions with the ability is awkward to say the least. :S
It doesn’t even benefit from resurrection as the battlecry won’t stay so what the heck is this used for exactly? It’s an absolutely dead card against aggro decks as well. Horrible desing, I hate Priest but I feel bad you get such a crappy legendary lmao.
Wait I’m confused is this summon a copy to your side or your opponents. Because if it’s your opponents this is worse than the other card at least that one removed it from the board temporarily. The only reason to summon another copy of a card to opponents side is if the card was debilitating to keep around or ruins res pool.
If you’re gonna rip off Stranger Things, at least make it a badass minion. This is lame. 3 stars, unlikely to see competitive play.
Mindflayers existed long before Stranger Things buddy.
Stranger Things rip-off? Do you have any cultural references outside of Hearthstone and Netflix? Go read some Lovecraft.
I know it may sound like “Go read some Lovecraft” is condescending, but honestly, you really should. That classic sci-fi/existential horror genre is something everyone should read.
I only give condescending remarks when people throw false/weird accusations around..
Is this just a cheaper, delayed Faceless Manipulator? But also you can only target enemy minions?
And does the “new” part imply that any buffs/debuffs will be forgotten?
Does this suck, or am I missing something?
Nah son, it sucks. And I’m pretty sure it doesn’t carry buffs, as without the “new” it would be confusing if you copy the minion as it was when you targeted it, of it’s current state (which could be dead).
And even if it does carry buffs, it still sucks. Especially for a legendary.
You are mising that if you can target just a 2 drop on curv3 is better that piloted shreeder. If you hit a 3 drop on curve its already a big tempo play
3.5 Stars
2 stars at best. Unless it gets some card that makes the effect useful.. It’s a decent value 3 drop but that’s all there is to it
For a start, combo this with Shadow Word: Death / Pain. Kills a big idiot and you get one.
It’s just a question how much Priest values tempo? Combo Priest does, but this guy isn’t the best to ressurect. Slower Priests may not be interested in tempo board presance, so this card would be an overkill. On the other hand, this is good to get some good deathrattle, rush or taunt minion.
Mindflayer + Time rip: 8 mana, destroy any enemy minion, gain a copy of it as a deathrattle, add a random Priest minion to your hand, invoke your galakrond. Lot of mileage for two cards.
