I just really like this card!
It won’t actually be useful for every deck, but there are many decks in which it will find a home. It does grant value, and depending on what mage minion you discover that value could be immense. It is gambling a bit, playing with fate.

There are around 8 okay cards, 11 great cards and 10 really bad cards you could get from this (currently).
So on average you will get to pick a really good card. The more aggressive statline (compared to stonehill) makes the lack of taunt less of a problem. A very decent card, will see decent amounts of play, but not always played, in most likely tier 2 decks.
Wrong again. The rating for this one is 3.5/5 (as of now).

This will not see any play in wild. Tempo is kind of a dead archetype. And as soon as mage gets lackeys. Sine as the year progresses we get more lackeys and more people that give you lackeys. So if tempo mage fails this expansion it may get more consistency later on but if it fails now it will fail later on too.
But with some lackey swimming in your deck this can be great.

Worse than Pyromaniac for sure. Maybe Mage also wants this as a one-of to fill out its curve. 3/5

Kabal Lackey saw play in slower mage decks, especially Reno, while that card was Standard legal, so Messenger Raven really should find its way into at least one or two viable decks over the course of its career.
Obviously as a common, there isn’t a whole lot of complexity to discuss here, but it’s far from a terrible card.
The problem with Mage minions is that they are generally weak. You also won’t pull a Taunt out of this…
I think this will be one of the underrated cards of the set. The specificity of “mage minions” and discover makes this particularly great for versatility. I would run this in some kind of control for sure.
This is going in the meme collection as well make a deck using nothing but cards of that class and try to get a win. Some classes had it easy *looks at Spell Hunter* but it’s an interesting challenge for other classes rogue was in top 3 for effectiveness with thief build.

Good value, and could find a place in control decks if the consistency of pulling mage’s big legendaries is high enough. Nice card for F2P players, decent for arena. 3/5
Very nice card stats are basically 2 cost worthy but a discover targeting mage minions is great sure there’s a few probably don’t want but others can be usefull in a pinch I dream of pulling a second janalai with it as I’m sure others will but there’s others of value as well malacrass and tokigenerate value possibly an arcanosaur for a curve board clear at 6. Basically it’s a card for generating value possibly useable by a tempoish mage due to losing some drawing power.
