    Overrated by quite a lot. People saying this is busted in tempo mage have obviously never played the deck; excepting aluneth shenanigans, tempo mage is just that: a tempo-based deck that focuses on playing powerful cards each turn and overwhelming the opponent early on. Mana cyclone is a combo card, rewarding the player for spamming lots of spells in the same turn; unfortunately, tempo mage doesn’t want to do that (holding spells in your hand is terrible for tempo), and control mage has no interest in running spells cheap enough to make this viable. The card’s effect is objectively powerful, but it doesn’t fit into any existing mage archetype, and I don’t forsee it singlehandedly creating a new one.

    Mana Cyclone.. Very interesting.

    As a mage, being behind the board is fine as long as you have enough removal in your deck to fight back. Whatever the random mage spell is to be returned to your hand, it’s still fairly neat since you still get something, something to use to contest the board, to burn the face, to remove a threat, to add a secret etc. that would make you more unpredictable compared to the Turn 7 Flamestrike on-curve play.

    Burn mages as well has the disadvantage of losing steam to certain classes that has either ridiculous amount of healing and armor gain, thus, such a card would be beneficial not against the aforementioned classes in general, but a card generator to give you more options when all else fails. Plus, even if all else doesn’t fail, it’s still a neat card!

    All in all, I like this card’s flavor and will certainly be played in Control Mage decks. Tempo mage? Well, I feel like that’s a different story since this card, more often than not, is detrimental to your early turn’s game plan. But drawing it late would still be neat, but there will be tons of games where you wish this card would’ve been a cinderstorm, or a sorcerer’s apprentice in the early get-go. But hey, at least it’s balanced right? If this was a 2 mana 2/3, then it would be a beast.

    Fairly awkward to use for Tempo Mage. Tempo mage likes an explosive early game, not to save up a bunch of spells for when you have enough mana to cast all of them plus a 2-drop at the end, only to gain some card advantage. This definitely looks more like a Control Mage tool to me.

    Works well with Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Ray of Frost and a bunch of other cheap spells like Arcane Explosion and Shooting Star, which in turn have good synergy with spell damage. But I think comboing something like Cosmic Anomaly + Arcane Explosion + Shooting Star + Mana Cyclone, costs too much mana, requires too many cards, and doesn’t have enough payoff- so you won’t want to include bad, cheap spells just because they synergize with this. Great synergy with Elemental Evocation in that you get to cast this guy for free and get an extra free spell, but Elemental Mage is losing all of its elementals so I don’t think that’s worthwhile.

    More realistically, I think this is a reasonable minion to play after you combo a Ray of Frost (or two) with something like Icicle or Snap Freeze, and will often just have to play as a 2-mana 2/2 on curve. Only giving this a good rating because mage spells are good on average. 4/5

    This card just refills your hand after you’ve cast a bunch of spells. This is incredibly dangerous as this low costing mana. 5/5

    Incredible value for Mage, which has already received some great support this expansion. Will certainly see play in midrangey and control mage builds.

    cool effect but I think this card is not so good…
    – random spells
    – hard to activate the effect
    – very weak body

      im seeing it used in a low cost spam spell deck with some spell damage mixed in, empty your hand of all but this card and by time you cast 10 spells its a full hand ready to go, yea its random but this game is all about rng at times

      Yeah except it’s amazing value even worth just 2 spells, and consistent value with just 1. Will certainly see play.

      It might not see play simply because the relevant Mage decks can’t find a place for it (to slow for aggro/tempo Mage and control Mage only plays 1 or 2 spells a turn) but it certainly won’t be for any of the reasons you said…
      – random spell generators have repeatedly seen play in Mage decks
      – its not hard to activate the effect, it just may be hard to in the meta-relevant decks
      – the size of the body is the last reason this won’t see play; not only because the card would be played for its effect rather than its body, but because this is only missing 1 stat off a regular 2 drop

        2 Mana 2/2 with Battlecry: Add a random Mage spell to your hand would be fine on its own. Like a Babbling Book. Any more and it’s great.

        Ray of Frost is excellent with this, as is of course Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

    With this yo ucan never have order low. Now with a bit less skil lrequired to use :D. Lock and load with a 2/2 elemental boddy to it. I don;t think you can ever missplay this,

    Nice! this is definitely going to Tempo Elemental Mage deck. On top of that, I’ve been looking for a card to replace the Spellstone that’s soon to rototate out with the corner sets. This is my kind of card. Really, nice.

    Mana Cyclone should be pretty alright as a later game play in a Tempo Mage deck. You’ll never want to actually drop it on two, but as a last gasp of advantage and a successor to Aluneth, it should be alright.

    Busted value generator a bit similar to Blast Wave, Lyra the Sunshard or Hagatha. Tempomage will see play with this!

    Well then, this is what Tiny Spells Mage wanted to see. Cast a bunch of cheap spells, use Luna/Auctioneer/Research Project for cycle, then cap it off with Elemental Evocation + this to refill your hand for 0 mana extra. Quite nice!

    This card is absolutely busted. Mage has so many cheap spells now including the 1 mana twinspell. Just dump this into control and/or tempo mage and you’re set.

    Dang that’s the biggest tempo mage support yet especially with apprentice and the 1 cost twin spell. There’s no way this won’t see play.
