This sucks outside of a midrange or mirror matchup. Against an aggro deck, if you’re spending turn 7 killing off one of their minions then you’re probably either going to die, or you were already winning enough that you can afford to be proactive. Against control, they won’t play too many minions and the ones they do have are usually larger. Seems very much like a win-more card, although I could be wrong.
Love this guy. I think he’s better than you think, if only because he does gain the stats even if he would otherwise be killed (I think so at least), meaning you can technically tank up to 8 damage with him. Plus the effect is just quite good, since it’s not everyday you face a minion with more than 7 health anyway.
I actually think that Lothar is an interesting minion. I think the reason why people are having Lothar a bad message is that they want to control Lothar in their doing, and they’re probably afraid of hitting the wrong minion, especially when they summoned him. But when he Survived the Turn after that, if the enemy doesn’t have an answer for Lothar? BOY is this minion going to deal some scary damage. This is a Slower but more ramped up version of the Illidari Inquestior, and even then is Lothar a scary legendary to face against. 4 Stars.
This doesn’t stand a chance against Illidari Inquisitor. That one allows you to choose the target and to go face the turn you play it. Instead, I’d compare this to either Swamp King Dred or Runaway Blackwing. The first one, if it were in warrior, would be way more powerful than this one, it would act like a tech card, preventing your opponent from playing minions. Runaway is slightly better, as it has better stats and doesn’t take the damage (your aim must be to kill a minion, on a 7/7 you don’t really care that much for a +3/+3). Also, cost usually doesn’t matter: the only deck this could fit in is a recruit warrior, where you don’t spend mana for it. So, to sum it up, you this is basically a 7 mana 7/7 that in the best case scenario value trades a 6/7 and goes to 10/4. And, it DOESN’T gain +3/+3 every time it kills a minion, just that one time at the end of your turn. 2 stars at best.
Agree with u, too bad, this could be a random enemy, possibility to 7 face dmg could make it half rag half crowley, now its just too bad 🙁
Isn’t it a good control tool? In the turn in which Lothar is played, he kills a small Minion and survives with 10/9 to 10/7. The opponent has to remove it, otherwise you could kill 2 Minions in the turn after and in the best case get +6+6 again.
He only gets the +3/+3 on his end of turn attack, so normal attacking/giving rush won’t give extra stats, though could help manage the board to do so. I can’t see him getting any play.
Not having a rush is always bad, since you can’t pick the minion to trade.
Even Runaway Blackwing is better than this at 9 mana, because it deals pure damage.
Can’t discover this via Athletic Studies, and there are better 7-cost card.
I don’t know. If nothing else, I still pick Mutanus over this.
Runaway Blackwing is better? How? It’s literally 2 mana more expensive and has pretty much the same effect as this, except that this grows as it hits and kills enemy minions.
Mutanus has no immediate effect on the board, while this does.
I’m honestly not understanding why everyone’s shitting on this card so hard.
Well, logically speaking, let us analyze the card.
In order to grow +3/+3, this one needs to ‘kill’ minion ‘at the end of turn’ only
There’s 2 restrictions already.
7/7 body trading with enemy minions doesn’t always guarantee it will kill the minions, unlike rush where we can choose. Plus, it will be damaged even with +3/+3, unlike Blackwing.
Mutanus is better in ‘my standpoint’, because it’s a tech card. It has a chance to destroy important cards, or even better, eating a decent stat minion. (Yes it could also eat worthless minion, but there lies the good one)
My point still stands about no discount because this is not rush, no synergy with warrior draw rush card, and there’s a lot of things I haven’t even covered yet.
strictly worse darius crowley
