Lord Godfrey Card Review

The other Warlock Legendary (Glinda Crowskin) is a bit more… meme card. But this? Oh my, this is CRAZY! Remember how Abyssal Enforcer was actually a decent card? This is so much better. It’s a 2 damage Defile, which would already be worth about 5 mana, with a 4/4 body attached to it. We all know how good Defile is when you can set it up. This is so much easier to set up, because instead of 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. health, you can skip every second one and it will still clear everything. You can have a 2, 4, 6 and 8 health minion on the board and this will clear everything.

This feels like a better AoE clear than Twisting Nether, to be honest. Of course, Twisting Nether doesn’t need to be set up, but just like Defile, this gets tons of extra value when you face Deathattle minions + it has a 4/4 body and costs one mana less. Clearing those pesky Voidlord boards should be easier now in the mirrors.

The 4/4 body doesn’t seem like much, but this part shouldn’t be ignored. One of the biggest downsides of Twisting Nether is that you usually start your next turn behind, as your opponent has time to fill up the board again. Starting with nothing vs having a 4/4 minion to trade into something or deal damage is a big difference.

There’s just nothing bad about this card, maybe except the mana cost. 7 mana is quite a lot in the faster matchups, but Control/Cube Warlock games to definitely last that long, even against Aggro. This should be an auto-include in this archetype, and basically any slower Warlock deck. I would be absolutely surprised if this didn’t see lots of play. Hands down the best Witchwood card revealed so far.

P.S. The only thing I don’t get is – why is this a WARLOCK Legendary? I mean, those pistols don’t really seem like a great fit in the class…

Card rating: 9/10

This card is amazing. I see some people saying that it is just an OK card, but I think it’s pretty broken. People consider it a situational card an say it’s cost is too high, but as a wild mode fanatic I must make a stand and say that my usual turn 7 are almost dead turns, the best I do is sylvanas + dark pact. Let’s take cubelock for an example: we have to admit that there are a few “movable cards” in the deck that we might change at will, so why no put Godfrey in the deck? The 6 Mana 3/6 oldwoman triggers it’s true power almost never and it’s still a card we see from times to times.

Big deal about Godfrey, you don’t need to wait for a perfect setup on the enemy board, U CAN FORGE ONE. Cubelocks on wild have gnomeferaru, master of mixtures and void caller(it’s the 3/4 deathrattle pulls a demon from your hand, not sure the name is right) which allows you to reduce enemy minions health to fit just right in the Godfrey’s kill range.

Second big deal, Godfrey is a standalone card, so u don’t need to build an entire section of the deck just for him as we do with Voidlord.

I agree that Godfrey isn’t all shinny against aggro decks, but it definitely crushes mid-range and some slower archetypes. Warlock acts pretty much as this: stay in shape and play a couple low price guys + set up demon synergy cards + if something went wrong on the last step, RESET THE BOARD. Godfrey does that with style.

My review is, a strong standalone card that does it’s job amazingly. And isn’t that what most warock cards all about? Check other cards from the class, some of the most used don’t see play because or just because they have good stats or are slightly better than others, they see play ‘cus they’re practical. You play them, they do just what u need and then the match keeps going. That’s the reason why Renolock was such a great deck( and the only one from it’s archetype to really go for it’s name), warlock bases it’s power on cards that can take care of whatever your opponent throws at you until your in control of the match.

“Cubelocks on wild have gnomeferaru, master of mixtures and void caller(it’s the 3/4 deathrattle pulls a demon from your hand, not sure the name is right) ”

I think it’s funny out of the three names the only one you actually did name correctly was void caller.

This is OP, maybe if it was deal 1 damage instead of 2 it would’ve been more balanced.

Part of what I love about this card is that it doesn’t require specifically a 2, 4, 6, 8 health minion (like defile does with 1, 2, 3, etc.) but that it can work much more flexibly with a board. if your opponent has a 1, 4, 5, and 7, health minion it will still clear. So long as there is at least 1 minion in each category of 1-2 health, 3-4, 5-6, etc, the board is gone. This is certainly deserving of its five stars, and could easily see some really cool warlock decks made around it

Unlike defile, looks like this card will create infinity loop with grimm patron. Imagine 3/3 and 3/1 patron on a board.
