um… this card is good. 4/5 maybe 5/5
(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)
3 Stars
Ran as a one of in control priest, but I don’t see priest being anywhere near tier 1 with the loss of psychic scream and duskbreaker. 3 Stars until more board clears are released for priest.
This at 10 charges + Forbidden Words will be the activators for the new OTK Mecha’thun Priest Kappa
If Lyra was still in standard when this comes out, this would have a higher rating from me. Sure, it’s zero mana, but it only neutralizes a target for one turn and that’s if you’ve waited for 4-6 turns. Too much waiting for too little reward. 2/5
Haven’t read a single comment about the synergy with “forbidden words” (also coming in this expansion). Let this sit in your opening hand, and it can reduce a Mountain Giant to 0 attack, then remove it with Forbidden Words………0 mana hard removal!
Lazuls’ Scheme + Cabal Shadow Priest = Sylvanas
Big waste of an Epic slot. The card is not bad if you generate it (with Lyra or something similary), but it will never make the cut in a deck.
well. It is a donor card AND IT MAKES WALL PRIEST GREAT AGAIN. for shure.
i have a reaaaaaaaly mean post about this card becouse my dreams of good priest cards got crushed.
and here is the really mean post :
Ugh now i am upset. I was so hopefull about priest getting a good card. And now i see this. Togwaggles’s scheme gives you infinite value. Hagatha gives you Hard removal. And priest gets THIS. where do i even start. Oh the value of an epic card. Considering other schemes are OP as fuck and not epic. The only epic scheme so far is basicly mind control cramped into two cards. You kind of need the shadow priest to make this work.
And its only for ONE TURN. SO AMAZING. ARDOR PEACEKEEPER PLS. its for an eternity and you get it for free. All you have to do is something very simple. Just change your class to pally now you are playing a real class GJ problems solved.
At least they didn’t make the mistake like with pin sized potion to make it last until the end of your turn. You know what if it was Reduse the attack of all minions by 1 for each turn this is in your hand than OK i can say its an epic card. But no it had to be another priest donor card GJ Blizz.
This is the first useless 0 mana card . We know how good 1/1 minions are i nthis game. Now imagine a epic card that removes not 1/1 worth of stats but 1/0 worth of stats. I really liked that card that makes your oponent win the game in 3 turns A.K.A. shadow madness. Priest has so many amazing epic cards for th enew year in heartstone. At least donor dust moth gives you extra dust if you didn;t dust him so far like i did becouse i am mazohist and i try to play the priest cards instead of dusting them and that made my heartstone experiances a bit bad so don’t ruin your fun and dust your priest cards.
Obviously whover gave this more than 0 stars never played priest and loved playing againts them. Especially if they don’t draw barnes on turn 4.
Was it so hard to print some ardor peacekeeper card for priest. There are not that many things that priest can do after he reduses the attack of en enemy minion exep stealing it. Literraly nothing else priest can do with the redused cost. Or maybe he can actually deal with 4 attack minions by redusing their attack to 3. Lol now we have 4 cards that make priests kill 4 attack minions with shadow word kinf of effect.
Can we make lazul into an epic version of peacekeeper. I know eradict the pure was better but its still un improvement to priest. Or lets just print some more card that kill 4 attack minions. But hey lets remove natiralize becouse it is not part of the druid play stile. While priest and his unability to remove a single 4 attack minion is totally something we must change.
And priest is the only class whose all archetype are retireing. radiant lyra kills cloning gallery priest. Quest priest is gone, so telanju can no longer be a splash card in there. baku priest is gone. Oh wait i forgot the most CANCEROUS DECK OF ALL TIME IS STILL HERE wall priest. Well if wall priest ruined your day here it comes full steam in the next expansion. And now with even more support cards for it. With this EPIC card just for 400 dust you have the abbility to OTK the other wall priest. HAPPY NEW YEARS META. with the meta that plagued the last year. Such a wonderfull start.
Shadow word madness gives charge. Now playing a big minion against Priest is an instant loss. This card needs nerfed. You have no idea what you are talking about. By the way, Priest is my on golden class on ladder. This value is disgusting.
How does this and Shadow Madness result in an instant loss against Priest? The reduced attack will still remain with the minion while you control it, and it’s not returning to its full attack until the beginning of the Priest’s next turn after control had already shifted back.
Inner fire. Midrange dragon decks have run it in the past along with divine spirit because they worked well with high health minions. My point is, there isn’t too much of a cost to run this in that type of deck. Making better trades against aggro is fine, and it just wins on it’s own against big minions.
If blizzard really intended to make this card to improve the classic combo SW Madness/Divine Spirit/Inner Fire, im even more dissapointed. I Main priest, in fact, the only class i play is Priest, and been doing it since Karazhan, i like to make decks off meta, and the reason is because i’ve played a few games with wall priest, and if you have faced one, you must know how boring it’s to play against it, big taunt after big taunt, stalling the game as long as possible to make your combo, and as for you it’s boring to us too, because that’s the only archetype we have, along with the Alex/Velen/Mind blast, both archetypes, from the basic set, i dont want to be pessimist but i really expect to see a new interesting idea for priest like one involving Talanji, Bwonsamde or Zereck but they give us this “epic” card, with an old effect, slower and weaker that the previous one. to many of us, it’s feels like blizzard run out of ideas long ago.
Wall Priest is not going to be at all viable in the coming season. Every card that makes the deck able to achieve the combo, Shadow Visions, Diamond Spellstone, Eternal Servitude, Psychic Scream, etc, is leaving Standard.
Even then, this card is not absolutely god awful. There are potentially reasonable combos that can be done with the card as is. It probably won’t be competitive or anything, but unless you’re preparation, zero cost cards are rarely impact.
well Wall priest strenght did not come from the tounts itself but from the abbility to instant kill your oponent if any of them sticks. So with shadow madness and this yo uare able to one shot your oponent if he plays a big health minion, you don’t really need the spellstone it was there to enshure you have a big boddy on board. A Warlock playing void lord on turn 9 is insta win for you if you happen to have divine spirit inner fire combo with shadow madness. Yes shadow visions is going to rotate out so you will not draw your cards that consistent and you will probably not be able to use triple divine spirits. But lady in white is still there to replace master oak heart, you will run double shadow madness and this instead of the shadow visions. The lack of low cost taunts is annoying but you can figure something out. And with this card you have instant win combost the moment your oponent tryest to break your taunts with a minion.
Eternal servitude was used to bring anothet one of the big taunts so you can replace it with a solid minion like the 2x rabble bouncer that gets cheeper if you oponent goes wide. there are solid options but you need to make more room to draw your cards. But yeas the wall prest is still a deck. And its not good that all classes have only one viable deck archetype.
I too have golden priest on more than one account. not becouse i like what they did with the class but becouse i started with priest in WoW. And i am especially fond of my FTP account. When heartstone started using questing adventurers and gurubashi berserkers with tounts to utilize a crappy hero power that from all the classes it does not make you closer to winning. All other hero powers does that in a way it gives value to you killing your oponent. While the priest hero power will not do that in any way. And with instant kill boards this class is not going to be playable that much. You may argue that the warrior hero power is the same as priest and it does not give you any points into killing your oponents and winning the game. But as the game progresses even a full minion board is able to substract 30 dmg in one turn. While it may stryggle to substract 50, considering you got tons of removal it becomes imposible.
And as i stated in the HS forums priest is only ABC class so far. Where A , B and C cards are your combo peaces, and the rest of your deck is board removal, since you don;t really have that much card draw. Weather your ABC cards are divine spirit inner fire shadow madness, or velen mind blast, all other priest archetypes get 0 support. And it was supposed to be this versatile class where you were to utilize the powers of you shadow and holy spells while not losing their individual powers. Your holy spells would strenghten you while the shadow will kill you and your oponent as well, after all you must pay the price for using shadow powers.
And there were good archetypes that never got any support.
– Like mind thief priest, where getting random cards from another class is very much random. Having cards from your oponent deck while having 0 offect into fatigue, can give you better value cards with a chance of combo :D. But it never got any support and the cards were waay to oexpensive. Cristaline oracle would screw your N’zoth res poll, or the cards he would give you were not going to boost your quest nor was it usefull as elemental that much since elemental decks were tempo oriented and this was too slow, it was deathrattle no immediate effect and it was just a 1/1.
– Dragon priest. While this deck would utilize yout hero power for the overstated minions, resulting in early game tempo. The deck itself lacks good win condition, and using the firetree witchdoctor for extra chance to get innerfire divine spirit is not the best game closer you want to see in priest. And the big dragons are killing you since th eclass itself has no card draw, instead is flooded the the get cards from your oponents deck that had 0 support whatsoever and is to ooverprised.
– the inspire priest. While inspire was the dead archetype of the entire icc tourney. And only justicar was used The shadow reaper anduin was there to fix it with self refreshing hero power dead cards like spawn of shadows and confessor could see play in wild while raza the chained couse be ised in standart without reno. However the nurf crippled the deck and you are either building you shadowreaper into a spawn of shadow reno deck with tons of cheep cards for card draw. The deck has much higher chance to kill you rather than your oponent.
– Control priest. Well combo decks killed this archetype but most of the priest cards were oriented twoards this. And Priest had no way to play around any of the combo decks. While warlock got tons of card removal like gnomeferatu, demonic project, whitch in the fantasy of the game were all mind altering spells that the shadow priest should have had while warlock would utilize the destructive forse of the shadow archetype. Warlock have ways to destroy your oponent deck, They can go infinite into fatigue with glinda while burning your oponents deck. The DK hero woul dgiv eyou another full board of minions that can insta deal 30 dmg to face.
Mages have ice block that can counter any combo deck. Paladins got one ice block too with time out, but they got tons of healing asss well. Hunters control deck gives them infinite tempo with deathstalker rexar. Rougues got better control decks than priest with their infinite card draws mills vanishes, kingsbane that gives them immune to fatigue. No need to point out that becouse of the armor mechanic warriors never stipped having control deck, and their hero power was considered weaker than the priest one.
i mean you get the idea all other classes got viable control decks while the oriest control deck dies to anything. It has no deck it can speciffically beat and that gives them too much randomness.
Lets not make this post any longer but here are few other archetypes that were not that seen in ladder but they do work from time to time if youdraw right:
Murlock priest, Elemental priest ( it was never a thing while all the other elemental classes got viable deck ) Tempo priest. Where you basicly use shadow ascendant in hopes you oponent can’t kill it :D. And basicly those are all the priest archetypes excluding reno that is a control deck and is not good. While other classes have shit tons of deck types that actually work blizz.
Without resurrection tools, Wall Priest really only gets two bites at the apple to get the enforcer to stick, and relying on your opponent to have a single high health minion and at least no taunt minions is not going to be a consistent way to win your games.
That is especially since Priest will have no consistent ways to draw this early, Shadow Maddness, both Divine Spirits, and Inner Fire.
It may allow for a meme combo deck, but it won’t be half as good as the Djinn combos from a couple years ago.
Also, try to get what you want to convey in less than a thousand words. I really don’t understand why you needed to elaborate on every single Priest archetype. I did read through most of it, but it really just comes off as a bunch of rambling.
Well i could say it like what other peoples say the card is bad. It can steal a minion which is powerfull mechanic so thats why they give it some bonus stars. But i really hate the state in whitch pries has been and i desided to put my frustrations into words so people don’t say i am hating for no reason. And i think the deck will run good with lady in white. The biggest loss to wall priest is Oakhert since he draws you 3 cards and plays them for free.
I think the meta will be forgiving for lady in white. You have beligerent gnomes a 5/4 card with lady in white. Unpowered steambots as 9/9 taunts, grave horros.12/12 divine shield taunt is a good addition to the mog’osh. All you need is to draw lady in white. You can even skip the low cost cards and enshure lady in white with witchwood pipers. All you need is cheep repoval spells like this one and forbidden words cramped with the other shadow words. They will synergze with grave horrors.
This card obviously combos with Shadow Word Pain, Forbidden Words, Cabal Shadow Priest in a control deck. For a control deck to work for Priest, it will likely need a new win condition though since Shadow Visions and Shadowreaper Anduin are rotating out which makes ending the game with Mind Blasts much more difficult. Priest is also losing Ticking Abomination so that rules out a control based Mecha’thun deck.. Or does it?
It could be worth noting that this card combined with Forbidden Words could technically form a 3 card combo to play/kill your own Mecha’thun. That combo would take 10 turns of Lazul’s Scheme sitting in your hand which seems extremely unreliable with Shadow Visions rotating out but you could also utilize Galvanizer/Seance/Shadow Word Pain to reduce some of that burden.
Can Mecha’thun Priest survive long enough without Psychic Scream, the Quest or Hemet to draw out the deck? This type of deck is probably not worth constructing based on the cards we’ve seen so far but 0 cost spells and cards that say “Win the Game” are always dangerous and will be experimented with.
“Enemy Minion” Guess it won’t combo with Mecha’thun.
dude just treachery it, then use Cabal Shadow priest
Meh
6 mana 4/5 mind control. Cost 2 cards. Seems alright.
I see a lot of potential in this card, mainly due to its flexibility. First of all, as others are saying, it can combo with cabal shadow priest, sometimes even more mana efficient than twilight acolyte.
Secondly, it’s 0 mana cost is highly flexible. Those kind of cards are always hard to rate. It has potential in various miracle scenarios.
This card supplement forbbiden words nicely. In case one wants to remove bigger minion, but don’t want to spend that much mana using forbidden words, one can easily reduce the minions attack first.
Last but not least, this card is yet another way for priest to remove 4 attack minion in combination with PW: pain.
My friend stealing a minion is not a lot of potential. You basicly will never want to use 2 card combo to destroy a minion. Its not even imaginative. And you basicly will not do anything else.
Two card minion kill combos like Hunter Mark-Candleshot and Whirlwind-Execute have been and are currently viable
I would like to add that those 2 card minion kill combos don’t leave you with a body, hence potentially even bigger tempo gain at the cost of 2 resources.
Not to mention shadow madness exists, which means that playing any high health minion against priest is potential immediate loss: 2 divine spirits and inner fire can turn an 8 health minion into deadly force. It is true though that with shadow visions gone divine spirit is much less efficient.
I doubt such a parasitic strategy is ever going to be viable. Even the Djinn Priest combo had some agency beyond waiting for your opponent to have a single high health minion and no taunts.
It has synergy with Cabal Shadow Priest but you could also bump a minion down to zero attack and then topsy it and kill it but that’s not really ideal. This card is pretty versatile.
This might not be a powerful card on its own, but so far both of the priest cards revealed have scaled off the attack power of enemy minions. If we see any more reveals which have synergy with this then it could be the basis of a new type of control priest.
I love that this can support Cabal Shadow Priest. And this actually dont have any downsizes, cause its 0 mana. Think this can be included in a lot of Priest decks, maybe Priest stays controlly. In mind that all Schemes will scale infinite, its huge for 0 Mana! Love that card! 5/5
Ok, this card is good with cabal shadow priest, but beside that, it’s pretty mediocre, isn’t worth the epic slot, im not surprised anymore of blizzard giving bad cards to priest each expansion.
At first glance, this looks a lot worse than Pint-size Potion. The potential advantages I see are:
1. 0-mana spells always have potential in the right decks. Look at Cloning Gallery priest, spamming spells like Silence and Circle of Healing alongside Lyra, in order to upgrade a spellstone. Lyra and spellstone are going away, but you can still use this with Auctioneer in a combo deck to quickly draw your entire deck.
2. Reducing an enemy minion’s attack with this then stealing it with Cabal Shadow priest lets you get the minion at full attack value next turn. Better combo than with Twilight Acolyte IMO, since you can do this on turn 6 rather than turn 9, and it requires no Dragon synergies.
The downside, of course, is that you need to wait for this to power up, and that enemy Mountain Giant won’t just quietly wait for you to upgrade this for 5 more turns.
Overall, very strong for Control Priest, but I don’t think more proactive priest deck archetypes will be willing to hold on to this and Cabal Shadow Priest for quite so long until you can get the payoff. 4/5.
All these Max out at 4, yeah?
This compares pretty badly to Pint-Size Potion, which didn’t see play other than the perfect combo with Shadow Word: Horror. For 1 mana more it targeted all enemy minions and didn’t need to be charged in your hand.
It’s easy to imagine plays with Little Miss Let-Me-Change-Your-Mind and whatnot, but nothing I can think of would really demand using a precious deck slot on this. Priest has a lot of other new 0-1 cost spells, best case is you can cycle with Auctioneer.
Do they max out at 4? I’ve read no such thing, and assumed they scaled infinitely.
That’s what I thought but Hagatha’s Scheme seems extremely powerful.
No, all Schemes scale indefinitely. You can steal anything with this and Cabal Shadow Priest, if you’ve had the Scheme in your hand long enough.
Thanks, dunno where I got the idea they maxed out.
This can be decent and much like Twilight Acolyte, can allow for easy minion stealing with Cabal Shadow Priest. Granted, unlike with Twilight Acolyte, the stolen minion will return to it’s full attack by the time you can use it.
For a zero cost Aldor Peacekeeper effect, even if its temporary, it could be far, far worse.
The combo with Cabal Shadow Priest is probably this card’s only redeeming grace. Unlike Aldor Peacekeeper, the effect is temporary AND you get no board presence.
Yes, but even without the combo, it will be possible to trade into an opposing minion without giving up any presence.
