Krag’wa, the Frog Card Review

Very strong card in any Shaman deck that heavily relies on spells. It doesn’t fit into a faster, more tempo-oriented strategy, but it offers immense value. While the 4/6 for 6 stats are not amazing, you will either draw one card you absolutely want to have in a given matchup (e.g. you can draw Healing Rain against burn decks), or a few cards in control matchups in the late game.

But where the card really shines is the Unstable Evolution synergy. It was already confirmed that you will get one copy for each time you’ve Echoed it. So, for example, if you’ve played 5x Unstable Evolution on T5 and then this on T6, you will get 5 copies of Unstable Evolution. That’s absolutely insane both in terms of value and in terms of tempo. You can now transform your minions for days, have multiple turns in which you don’t use your resources (don’t drop big minions) but still develop huge boards that need answers.

It also has a very nice synergy with Hagatha the Witch. In the late game, you can play a bunch of random spells you’ve got from Hagatha (try to fit as many good ones as you can), and then drop Krag’wa next turn to get all of them back. Massive value tool in the matchups in which you need value.

The card would fit most into the non-combo Shudderwock Shaman, but also into any Control / Combo Shaman deck. I will be trying out Malygos Shaman, for example, and I’ll definitely play it out there.

Card rating: 8/10

Wait so this makes me draw upwards 10 unstable evolutions or do “echoes” not count?

Unstable evolution doesn’t say ‘echo’ and I think they do count.

You don’t draw them, it adds a *copy to your hand but yes, you can get *downwards of ten.

So, Electra makes overload trigger twice and Zentimo three times, with that logic, we should get two or three spells back from ONE spell. If that’s not the case, this card is bad and Blizzard is being inconsistent.

Dang it now this is annoying like zentimo needed the help.

All need do is play zentimo and a buffing spell and pull the buffs back after play this.

this card is a BEAST 🙂
well, the effect is super good but 6 mana for this Frog is quiet slow and prevents good combo/tempo.
Can be useful in tempo shudderwock deck or burn/overload deck.

Its not that anyone plays them anymore. And lets stop here couse there are tons fo things i want to see like whizzbang having only tier one decks etc 😀

I would bet on at least 2 spells from this. And you know they’ll be good, since you put them in your deck to begin with. Unless you pull spells from Hagatha, in which case you can time this to get good spells anyway. That seems perfectly fine stat-wise. In terms of playability, this feels Electra Stormsurge-y: not an auto-include, but there’s plenty of decks where it will provide a lot of versatility and clinch plays.

You can’t go too crazy with Overloads, or you can’t drop Krag’wa to get the spells back. Even so, you can safely shoot off two Lava Bursts or, say, 2 Zap!s+2 Lightning Bolts. That doesn’t seem too restrictive.

Massive value/shenanigans with Unstable Evolution seems alright- he’s a good target for the spell, too. Also makes the ol’ Doomhammer + Rockbiter Weapon combo kinda appealing again – 4 cards, 36 damage across 3 turns or so- with room to improve it via Electra or Shudderwock.

    All I see:
    Turn 6: Frog Totem
Turn 7: Lightning Bolt > Crackle > Lava Burst (11-14 damage)
Turn 8: Lava Shock > Big Frog
    Turn 9: *Crack Knuckles* Electra

this is obviously gonna have some kinda bustes combo potential activation but it kight take some time to narrow down what all works properly but 5/5 it seems incredibly strong

Reminds me of Electra—not in that it’s a shaman copy-spells card, but in that it makes me think, “That’s a really neat effect. Why haven’t they already printed this?”

This has potential. However, it’s only going to work in a slower control matchup.
Every one talking about unstable evo, but also Electra stormsurge. Turn 6/5(w/coin) Electra + healing rain heal 24, get 24 worth of additional healing in hand. But that’s a 2 turn play where you have 2 small bodies on board and really gained no tempo.
An ideal situation would be to use Electra + board clear, but lightning storm and volcano (nfi what their real names are) both overload 2, so turn 6, means you don’t have enough mana in the follow up turn to use this. So now you’re looking at a turn 9 play to Deal 4-6 dmg to each minion or 30 damage to the boar. Then turn 10, you can get two more board clears and a small body on board. Just way to slow and requires to much coordination to be effective. 3/5 at most, given the control potential.

This can generate infinite value with two spirit echoes and giants
Turn 1: Play two snowfury giants and a spirit echo.
Turn 2: Play Krag’Wa and another Spirit Echo.
If you can continuously kill Krag’Wa (you could add in Lightning Bolt to be safe) you can repeat the combo every turn

Do i need to spell out the broken combo for you guys? Zentimo and cast unstable evolution 2 times turn 5 to build a big board your oponent has to deal with. Krag’wa turn 6 should give you 6 unstable evolutions to toy with in future turns (… i think XD)

If thats no good just play unstable evolution on corridor creeper about a dozen times to get about a dozen unstable evolutions.

    Get creative people.

Zentimo himself casts the 4 copies.

        November 28, 2018 at 6:27 AM

This is correct. You’ll only get back the one copy you cast.

Really slow and situational.. I don’t understand why there’s so many people on twitter and Heartpwn saying this is great.. I even read this was good in wild even shaman XD. Seriously, very difficult to set up and not worth it, can be cool with the Unstable Evolution though. 1/5

Time and again they tried to improve Shaman by adding “hand generator value” cards. And time and again it sucke..! I mean, proved too slow to have any decent results.
    Seems like they’ll never learn…

I mean… Hagatha is a very powerful card that follows this idea… So I think you might be wrong.

This new shaman archetype they’re trying to push seems really hard and RNG based to play.

Rogue has had enough rng based archtypes, shaman getting this is a blessing

I can see one particularly ridiculous case. Pretty sure this will give you a hand full of Unstable Evolutions if you’ve echoed it a bunch. O___o

Pros: Strong battlecry. Best case scenario is something like giving Shudderwock Shaman two extra Healing Rains vs. aggro, or an extra Hex vs. Big Priest.

Cons: Super awkward to play. In terms of stats it’s like a Skulking Geist, except unlike Skulking Geist you can’t just drop it on turn 6 just to play on curve and get a body on board… well you can do that, but then you miss out on the battlecry. Expect this to sit in your hand for a long while, unplayable until you find the right moment, and even then you’re gaining in value at the cost of playing this guy in a turn which can be super awkward, tempo-wise.

Battlecry interaction with Shudderwock is also pretty awkward; if Shudderwock repeats this a couple times it can clog up your hand to the point you can’t return any shudderwocks to your hand anymore.

Good potential, not sure it’ll become a staple in any deck. 3/5.

    Not value enough I’m afraid.

A bit of value with other shaman cards from this expansion but I agree the effect, mana or stats can be better.

    November 27, 2018 at 6:32 PM

Not really good, shaman has the worst spells, and you NEED to play this after a big turn of spells, so you basicly do nothing this turn. 2/5

      November 27, 2018 at 6:46 PM

Shaman spells aren’t that bad and this card has a lot of support from this expansion. It’s one of the few loas that has synergy with the champion.

      • Piterno
        November 27, 2018 at 7:02 PM

The Zentimo spells don’t count as you playing them, so Krag’wa won’t add them.

        • Lllllll
          November 27, 2018 at 7:21 PM

Maybe synergy was the wrong word. I meant you could put them in the same deck.

            November 27, 2018 at 7:29 PM

Oh for sure, yeah. I just made a deck that I think looks pretty solid with those two and Unstable Evolution.

I mean… you can volcano double lava burst totemic smash for twelve and a board clear, then this next turn

      Then do it over again
