I can see this being used with Aldrachi Warblades and Eye Beam, but that’s about it right now.
I’m assuming Hearthstone is making more of these aggressive Lifesteal cards, and if they do then Il’gynoth is actually a good card. If Lifesteal Cards are Expensive, it’s still just as good, but obviously more for a control state instead.
Right now it’s 3 stars, how I’m imagining it with the aggressive lifesteal cards, then it’s 5 Stars.
This card will be great and fits perfectly into Soul Demon Hunter, which is already a Tier 1 deck. You can double the damage of your Aldrachi Warblades and cutting a few cards for Eye Beam (Which was already being run in fringe version of Soul DH) won’t hurt your win rate. All this while being a 4/6 essentially makes this a card to be reckoned with so 5/5 stars. It’s a fun card that’s also really cool. I already like this one.
How come no one has mentioned eye beam at all? When DH came out Agro decks with eyebeams were pretty much the nutz for keeping the tempo going while maximizing face damage. If you get Aldrachi down prior to this thing hitting the field we are talking Twin Slices being stacked with Eyebeams.
I’ve mained Soul Demon Hunter and got legend in 6 hours on Nov 1st and I can honestly say the potential to pop off in an Agro deck might be more relevant. I could see the argument for control, but to be honest without those max heals in the deck currently DH will get wiped before it can make a trading blow with most of these decks.
Also, won’t people just run freeze mage and weapon removal if this becomes to relevant? Seems like Agro is going to be the only way to run this card as the high end combo finisher.
Besides, we have Bomb Warrior / Weapon Rouge as well. People will tech what they need to shut this down if it is OP and enough classes run high priority weapons like Wrench Caliber and Self Sharpening Sword.
3.8/5 (To easy to counter)
Haha just read the comments from first to last and thought ‘Eye Beam getting some love at the Fair’ …
In a perfect world this + Aldrachi weapon + twin slash = 12 damage in face. Sheesh.
4 stars, if there’s some insane lifesteal cards that break this card it’ll be even better. I think it’s a mistake to print this with only 4 mana cost as it makes it too easy to combo with twin slash.. If it was 5 mana I think it’d be alot more fair.
Actually it would be more like Aldrachi the turn before, then Il’gynoth, twin slice x2, second slice x2, eye beam x2 for 26 damage to the face if they don’t have a taunt.
You know what, I can see what Blizzard was thinking here. People are tired of having DH players wack them in the face for 10 damage for the win. Let’s instead make it super easy for them to do 15+ damage. Good call. Really good call.
Team Pepega doing Team Pepega things. Not a surprise 🙂
I fear no man, but that… thing.
It scares me.
I hope I get it gold for that thiccccc nerf dust.
and just when I thought DHunter couldn’t do more damage with Aldrachi Warblade.
Nope. With this, DHunter can double damage whatever buff his weapon.
You can’t even thinking of using Taunt minion to block it, since DHunter will just go for it.
This is Blizzard making a d*ck move regardless of what balanced play means.
And I thought Eclipse cards was bad, trust me when I say this one will absolutely get nerfed.
whoops, not entirely Blizzard faults, but Hearthstone Team of course.
Maybe theyll nerf it to: “the first lifesteal effect on your turn deals damage to your opponent instead.”
How does that help when they are only doing one lifesteal per turn?
The issue is that Alrdarchi Warblades’ damage (which could already be significant) is doubled with this. It’s partially countered by having 4 mana less to buff your attack with, but it will still be a significant amount of damage directly to face in a deck that already does a significant amount of damage directly to face.
I didn’t mean this to be a huge nerf. If you have this minion and Alrdarchi Warblades you’d only get one damaging lifesteal.
That’s hard to say, Aldrachi Warblades is the only Lifesteal card that Demon Hunter would play semi-frequently. So if you wanted to utilize this card’s ability, you’d have to draw and equip your Aldrachi Warblades, and then play this clunky 4 mana 2/6 no immediate effect body.
You only get two Aldrachi Warblades in your entire deck, so having this card around won’t help you too much. Most of the time I’d say this’ll be a dead card sitting in your hand.
there’s 2 scenarios that I think would play out,
1. Equip other weapon, and save Warblade until you have pretty much 8-10 damage with Twin Slice or Soulshard Lapidary in 1 combo.
2. Use Skull of Guldan to discount mana. getting either Il’gynoth, Warblade, or Lapidary discounted is surely to be OTK in the next turn. (add Kayn to be sure).
All in all, direct face damage or not. this is surely add more salt to opponent’s health (which is may already low enough from earlier punishment).
The only real class to counter this is healing priest, healing paladin, or heavy armor warrior. The rest of the class won’t stand a chance.
or forget about the whole deal with Warblade.
Eyebeam + 2 Mo’arg Artificer (7mana, may be less) can already deal 12×2 damage to face.
Tell me if that’s not a problem already. #facepalm
Correction.
2 Eyebeam + 2 Mo’arg Artificer, can deal 12×2 damage to face. You’ll get the point anyway.
Yeah, this adds “more salt to opponent’s health”, but that’s hardly something to brag about, when other than the two Aldrachi Blades you might pack in your deck, this is literally a dead card – 4 mana 2/6 that has no immediate effect on the board. You literally have to hold this dead card in your hand until you finally draw and equip your Aldrachi Blades. And all for what? You could potentially deal a lot of damage with the attack bonus, but playing down this guy is already 4 mana gone. That means 4 less mana to buff your attack with.
I’d also argue that Aldrachi Blades aren’t the best weapons to use for face demon hunter. You’d probably be better off using Marrowslicer and Umberwing.
Since you can only equip one weapon at a time, packing a ton of weapons into your deck isn’t the most ideal. Out of Marrowslicer, Umberwing and Aldrachi, Aldrachi is probably the least aggressive out of the three and the first one you’d want to cut.
I can’t wait to see how this card breaks the meta, but I’m sure it will in someway
It will.
This card effect sounds like trouble to me. I feel like this is a card that could quickly get problematic and that will either affect negatively the future Lifesteal DH cards to be printed because of narrow design space, or be outright broken in the case they do print decent Lifesteal cards.
Prime nerf potential if it gets out of hand
WTF …..
Insane with DH possibilies to creat high Lifesteal Damage
4.5/5
Turn one Aldrachi Warblades + Greenskin, turn two This + triple Twin Slice (you can get extra copies from Wandmaker or Cobalt), hit face for 30 damage.
Because what Demon Hunter was lacking was, of course, direct face damage
