    Think recruit. Cards that recruit 4 cost minions REALLY like this card.

    It’s good for that purpose. It’s meh oh it’s own.

    Hungry Dragon’s battlecry summoned a random 1 drop that, more than likely, would be some 1/1 or 1/2. The effect of Hoarding Dragon is a deathrattle instead of a battlecry, so you have an extra turn to deal with the consequences of the +1/+1 stats that makes the card stronger than a Chillwind Yeti. But when your opponent gets to slaying this Dragon, they instead get two coins. In constructed, you opponent isn’t going to include a single bad card into their deck, so whatever they spend them on will probably be more like 3 or 4 mana worth of stats, which is worse than even some of the worst results from Hungry Dragon, e.g a Flame Imp.

    It’s an interesting redesign of Hungry Dragon, though if we’re being honest, this looks even worse than Hungry Dragon. Hungry Dragon could be seen as a 5 mana 5/6 since the opponent got a 1-drop, or something like a 4 mana 4/4 if you subtract that opposing stats (probably an average of 1/2). This strikes me more as a 6 mana 5/6, since you’re effectively giving your opponent two mana. And some classes can do some gross things with those cheap spells, like Rogue. Even outside of rogue, consider that you’re giving your opponent a pre-nerf Innervate. Does that sound like a thing you want to do? Of course not. This card is bad.

    In Arena this will be a sub-optimal pick, but playable.

    This card won’t as strong as hungry dragon used to be, but it might have potential. However it might be mostly played in dragon/silencd priest, as playing this with any other class could be risky when you think about the downsides:
    – Playing against a mage with the time warp quest could result in helping that mage with the quest.
    – Alot of rogues and druids run auctioneer and could benefit from that kind of boost in cheap spells.
    – dk priest would destroy you with just two coins added in their hand

    All in all the card seems great and we have to wait to see the results of it, it just seems so risky for just a 4 mana 5/6.

    5 stars. We may be seeing a lot of this card on ladder.
    Not to mention giving 2 cards can result in burning a card.

    Warlock: Treachery, Zoo
    Shaman: Obviously
    Priest: Dragon Priest, Silence Priest
    Hunter: Midrange hunter may become a thing
    Mage: Dragon Mage anyone? (maybe not)
    Paladin: Dragon Pally may (finally) become a thing
    Warrior: Dead Man’s Hand
    Druid: No ramp draw? No problem. Naturalize is a wicked combo too.
    Rogue: Tempo Rogue just got faster.

    All you Negative Nelly’s can sit and wait for the net deck to happen.

        Treachey warlock? Wtf?
        Paying 3 mana to give youe opponent a 5/6 (or at least a damaged 5/6) just to get 2 mana in return is really – really bad.
        The only thing I see possible is a mill deathrattle hunter w/ this and death rattle triggers.

        For warrior druid and rogue, you just statet their meta decks without linking it to the card at all.
        Midrange hunter is already pretty viable but there is no way this card helps.
        This argument is crap and this card is not as good as you think.

          With 6 health it has high potential of being around for more then one turn.
          Then after it takes damage you treachery and remove it with a small minion or defile.
          In short, it creates another target for treachery which currently only has 3; 2 Doomsayers and 1 Howlfiend.

          Meta decks need no explanation sir. Use your imagination.

            So, u cast this, trade once, use a spell to give it to ur opponent and another minion to kill it? 😀 yes, it requires a lot of immagination to think it is worth spending 3 cards for 1 of your opponent :D:D:D

    Lets see.You are giving the opponent 2 mana.2 mana is worth of at least 2/3 stats but you would not put a vanilla 2/3 minion in deck without a good effect.So we can say that 2 mana is actually worth 3/3 stats.
    A vanilla 4 drop has 4/5.So for 2 mana instead of 7/8 you have 5/6, only a 1/1 upgrade.Thats only if we see that purely on stats.
    But considering how important tempo is the 1/1 may be not be bad.
    You are giving the value via deathrattle meaning the opponent may have that 2 mana after 2 turns.
    The greatest thing about this card is deathrattle dragon tag.4 mana this , 5 mana Operative , 6 mana Bone Drake…and maybe Nzoth for a finisher ?
    I will surely try this card.

    That is INSANE arena card 5/6 for 4 mana and effeckt is active when it dies wich is realy deleyed ( sorry mill decks 😛 ) on arena willl be one of best cards in common slot next to bonemare in constructed i bet it will find home in like miracle palladin maby even some mill decks

    What you guys are failing to see is that if you are playing a quest mage you can make them finish their quest even faster so it’s an easy auto include card for any deck

    This card is a lot better than people are giving it credit a 5/6 for 4 mana with the down side of giving up 2 mana when it dies is excellent value…

    Comparing Hoarding Dragon to Hungry Dragon from Blackrock Mountain is probably very applicable. Granted, the latter existed in a period where Twilight Guardian. a 3/6 with taunt when holding a dragon, also existed. The former is a deathrattle, so the boon to your opponent can be circumvented by silencing it or forcing your opponent to use non-destructive hard removal like Hex. However, I doubt either situation will happen often enough to matter.
    I can’t remember the period of time between BM and GT that well, but during that time there was Twilight Drake and Dragonkin Sorcerer, both of which are cards that only have upsides. I do not think a minion overstated by +1/+1 that will usually give your opponent more stats saw play when there were other options. There will be upon the release of this expansion two other four cost dragons without a downside for Dragon Priest, Twilight Drake and Duskbreaker. (Midnight Drake doesn’t count as it isn’t seeing play)
    As such, I doubt this will see play for that reason and that Drakonid Operative exists, a card with identical stats for one more mana that draws a card.

    The idea of retraining Hungry Dragon is a good one, but the potential of giving your opponent cards that cost nothing to play makes this card a hard to play at least until the rotation in March or April. We are currently in a meta game in which several decks would likely play 35 card decks in which those five extra card are zero mana spells that do nothing.

    I’d look at playing this in a mill deck. Fill up their hand with junk (coins) and then mill their good cards. Since this fellow has a good body, he actually gives mill decks another way to chew into the opponent’s life points. Ideal? Maybe not, but I think it may be viable.

      Could be used in some sort of hybrid deathrattle-mill hunter with coldlight oracle, play dead, spirit singer umbra, terrorscale stalker, proncess huhuran, and this card.

          Giving 2 coins is fantastic for milling. Naturalize can mill 3 cards with only 8 cards in the opponent’s hand.

    Absolutely love the design of the card.

    Play-wise, it isn’t viable on-curve since giving your opponent two coins can be detrimental mid-game, but later on the coins aren’t as impactful, so it does have its uses with a 6-drop as well (such as Dragonfire Potion).

      On curve against mage or priest is a definite no-no. Against druids is a definite hell yes.
      For others classes by turn 4 the board should be readable to see if it can be played or not.

    I think this card is better than the ratings would suggest. As a lover of dragon priest decks, I can say that Hungry Dragon was just barely short of playable. The fact that the effect is a death rattle instead of a battle cry makes a huge difference, and against most opponents two coins a turn or two later is not as big a drawback as an immediate minion on the opponents board. It’s also a dragon, of course, so activates the new dragon excavated evil. I’ll bet this is included in the new standard dragon priest decks.

    It’s meh. It’s good tempo with deathrattle give your opponent better tempo. The power of this minion lies on how early you can play it. And in late game, 2 mana usually doesn’t matter that much.
