Can’t wait to see 3 of these chained out in a row. Crazy good. 5/5

Stonehill Defender returns!! 5 out of 5 in my book.

Actually slightly better than Stonehill Defender in certain cases (except being limited to Warrior) since it is OK on curve against any deck and much better in mid- late game regarding that it is cheaper and offers a better chance of dropping two good Taunt minions in one turn

True that. Still, both both are good in my book. I miss Stonehill a lot.

Yeah! Totally agree; I also miss that card. These ’Taunt + Discover a Taunt’ is such good anti-aggro addition to the game, which I like a lot. This should really be Neutral imo, or, a similar card should be introduced that’s neutral

Zoinks Scoob, this will be run in every control warrior deck until the end of time. 5/5

    Taunt control warrior looking scary…

A lot of Stonehill Defender’s value was in it being a Neutral card, Frightened Flunky being Warrior-only significantly detracts from its power. This is an auto-include card in any Taunt Warrior decklist, but if that archetype flops then this card might not see any play. 4/5

This card looks very good. A 2/2 body for 2 mana is more than enough if it comes with an interesting effect. Discovering a card is a significantly better effect than getting a random one. When you compare it with say, Hench-Clan Burglar, this card is cheaper and is comparatively more cost-efficient. It is easy to play and will be a reliable and effective tool in upcoming Taunt Warrior.
Excellent, would be broken if it was any better. 5/5

Would you become a broken card for a Scooby snack?

      Make it two Scooby Snacks.

Give a box and will push the I.W.I.N Button. (He found one that wasn’t broken)

I can bet this and other new warriors taunt minions will obviously set the Warrior Quest to “summon taunt minions”. Anyone care to join?
    Prove me wrong…

    • H0lysatan
      July 24, 2019 at 10:58 AM

this expansion will focus on taunt minions for Warrior. Warrior got Bombs, Rushes, and Enraged Meta. Again, prove me if I’m wrong…

Can you please explain to me on how taunt minions are going to provide any value in late game? Pure stats don’t matter in the late game and handbuffing has been proven to be too slow and doesn’t result in enough value. Also, all warrior taunts are pretty garbage so why would the current rendition of control/bomb warrior have any desire to run this or any taunt card. Also, why would they just copy the same quest warrior had from Ungoro, just because there is taunt doesn’t mean the quest is taunt related, look at paladin quest, nothing to do with one health minions.

        • Lluadian
          July 24, 2019 at 6:52 PM

Who said taunt warrior wouldn’t still run bombs? Bomb warrior pretty much consists of 3 cards.
The weapon, the 3/3 mech, and the Blast Master. In total that’s 5/30 for the deck on minimum.

Those are just run in a mech themed deck because it’s convenient with other rushes being there to control board till get the hero swap. All taunt warrior is really is another version of control focussed on putting a wall on the board.

Class specific Stonehill Defender? Sign me up! Has serious synergy with Into the Fray (a 2 mana 4/4 with taunt makes up for no on board play on t1), and it could help more tempo-focused Warrior builds have a solid curve. Maybe there will even be enough Taunt synergy that Taunt Warrior can compete with non-taunt control and Bomb.

But wait, there’s more! So far when Saviors of Uldum drops, there will only be 2 Warrior class taunts: this card and Armegadillo. Discover being weighted towards class cards means you have a pretty solid chance of generating another Frightened Flunky, or finding additional Armegadillos for more hand-buffing.

Now in Wild… I don’t really see a place for this at all. It doesn’t slot well into any current archetypes, but maybe there are enough cheap taunts to run some sort of turbo Fire Plume’s Heart warrior, where you focus on completing the quest as fast as humanly possible. If such a deck is viable, I’m certain this card will be in it.

      July 24, 2019 at 11:15 AM

I wouldn’t call this a class specific stonehill. This is more of a 2/2 Goldshire Footman with battlecry of I Know A Guy same cost value wise but has 1 more attack with one card class specific to warrior.

      • ActualWaterfowl
        July 24, 2019 at 11:45 AM

“Goldshire Footman with one more attack…”

Don’t you mean Frostwolf Grunt? 😛

        • Lluadian
          July 24, 2019 at 12:06 PM

If the frostwolf costed 1 less that would be right but it cost 3 if added them together. This could just be a Goldshire that’s sitting next to a wolf already have on the board.

          • ActualWaterfowl
            July 24, 2019 at 12:32 PM

Right. But the reason this card is good is because you get the 1 mana effect for free at the cost of 1 fewer total stats.

      • ActualWaterfowl
        July 24, 2019 at 11:46 AM

And it literally is a class-specific Stonehill Defender effect. It’s the same card text.

        • Lluadian
          July 24, 2019 at 12:10 PM

I know a guy is a 1 Mana spell with same effect as stonehill defender this is just basically that at 2 cost and summon a 2/2 taunt.

Besides your insulting the greatest 3 drop ever by compare this to him. Stonehill would have stood his ground against the monsters.

    • KublaiMBP
      July 27, 2019 at 11:55 AM

This card is so powerful I could see it being run in pirate warrior for the raw tempo of it.
2 mana 2/2 draw a card is exceptional.
Taunt on top of that increases power level again, and forces opponent to either have 2 minions on board or take weak trades (hard to do/bad against aggro)

  11. ReliusRemyRezar
    July 24, 2019 at 9:52 AM

no no no no nononononono NO, no, NO NO!, you did not released a class restricted stonehill defender.

    • Lluadian
      July 24, 2019 at 11:16 AM

      This isn’t class specific stonehill it’s a 2 Mana i Know A Guy that summons a 2/2 taunt.

      • ReliusRemyRezar
        July 25, 2019 at 6:54 AM

I would give you a point over me there, i know a guy came before Stonehill defender – with in a way – was I know a guy on a stick, but Stonehill defender has the title of “Get outa ma jungle” as a really good voice line, so this impostor must live to a legacy before him. with is sad, since i hate and never will play warrior again.

        • Lluadian
          July 25, 2019 at 9:01 AM

If this guy says zoinks or references Scooby Doo in any way I’ll play him in warrior just to laugh when I have a monster catch him.

  12. EksSkellybur
    July 24, 2019 at 9:46 AM

    I Know a Guy + Frostwolf Grunt = Somehow a Frightened Flunky

While this is such a weird turn on design, The Card itself is as you expected. It’s some good stuff, especially for losing 1 health to gain a Discover. Maybe Tempo Warrior could reborn once more if we keep seeing cards like this. I’m only rating it 4 stars because I can still see it be overshadowed by Rovers and Town Criers, but for those that don’t want to waste 800 Dust for a 1/2 that draws a rush card for you, then this is a great start.

  13. Lluadian
    July 24, 2019 at 9:36 AM

See this is what happens when people start saying crap about a legendary. Everyone was saying how Armagedillo was useless and wouldn’t see play in standard.

And now we get a taunt discover taunt, a taunt death rattle add 2 taunts to hand, a spell to buff all taunts in hand, a restore neighboring minions to full health taunts love that stuff, and we still haven’t seen everything yet.

    • TardisGreen
      July 24, 2019 at 10:29 AM

This card doesn’t change the status of Taunt Warrior. It is still garbage.

Playing one taunt per turn, even if they have some buffs on them, isn’t gonna lead to a competitive deck. Aggro decks will kill the taunts, and keep on developing. Control decks will simply remove them, buffs and all. This is not broken.

      • Lluadian
        July 24, 2019 at 11:07 AM

Taunt warrior bad? Turn 2 coin into infested goblin, turn 3 kill the goblin get the 2 1/1 taunts, then play Into the Fray and play those 2 now 3/3 taunts on turn 3. That set up literally only costs 3 cards to do if you count the coin. If this was in wild that would have covered 3/7 taunts by turn 3 and it’s doable with an ODD quest warrior deck.

It may not be *broken* for standard but when evaluating a card you have to consider it’s playability in both standard and wild. If your going to insult a card you have to say to which version it’s bad or why it’s bad in both. Because there are a lot more tools to work with in wild compared to standard. Given that in wild at the earliest taunt warrior could possibly finish the quest by turn turn 5 that’s a big deal.

        • TardisGreen
          July 24, 2019 at 11:20 AM

Do you think playing two Ironwood Grizzly’s on turn 3 is game winning? Do you think its comparable to making two 7/8 or 8/8 minions on turn 5?

Silence Priest can pump far more stats on the board than your example, AND actually has a way to WIN the game if they can stick a minion (DF/IF). They can’t do it consistently.

Your example isn’t even close to being broken enough to see constructed play.

          • Lluadian
            July 24, 2019 at 11:57 AM

Your still only mentioning stuff that’s possible in standard taken in wild warrior completing a quest that gives a weapon and a 2 Mana RNG 8 dmg to enemy HP quickly is a rather big deal.

The fact that you brought up silence priest and the big mage doesn’t mean much. Mage deck needs 1 of 2 out of 30 cards PLUS one of the Giants to use it’s play I’ve tried a game of that mage before and it wasn’t until turn 8 that I got the final piece I needed to START the strategy. For priests until they have a silencing card about half of the cards can’t attack and are open to being tagged by a removal card.

Dissing a deck type this early before we have even seen all the cards is ridiculous and let’s not forget these cards are going to be around for several more expansions there’s no telling what may show up later that completely breaks the deck.

Taunt warrior wasn’t to big a deal when first appeared then had Baku show up and Bam a really annoying control deck was made. Then there’s those cards that don’t seem like much and then next thing you know someone comes out with a ridiculously broken deck using them *stares at Togwaggle Druid*.

My only question is how is this a warrior?

    • Lluadian
      July 24, 2019 at 9:39 AM

Well warrior has 2 jobs taking damage and keep enemies attention on them.

This guy fails the first but he’s more than able to do the second.

heartstone’s team are fallen in love with mage, warrior and shaman …. everything made for them…

  16. Guyopt
    July 24, 2019 at 8:03 AM

    – 5 stars, almost a broken card.
    – this will be an auto include in most Warriror decks (which is already an OP classs…)

  17. Csn113
    July 24, 2019 at 7:38 AM

So it’s basically Stonehill defender, one less mana, one more attack, two less health. And we all know that was a pretty solid card. 4.5/5

Or is he sitting outside the tomb eating his snacks?

  19. Vincent
    July 24, 2019 at 6:16 AM

This card is insane. Because class specific cards have a higher chance to be discovered and warrior currently has only one taunt (security rover), chances are high you will discover this card or armagedillo. Excellent card even when taunt warrior won’t be viable.

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      July 24, 2019 at 6:21 AM

Security Rover is not a Taunt.

        July 24, 2019 at 7:20 AM

Haha lol my mistake, I searched for taunt minions in HS using the keyword taunt, couldn’t find a warior one, pressed crafting and security rover popped up.

  21. Pingoles

Good 2 drop, even if the taunt whole thing doesnt work.

Why delaying so much the reveal for priest cards? Theyre gonna be either really good or another disappointment.

They will probably be released at the cery end, with all the other garbage/filler cards. Smth like 5 mana spell restore 10 health to your oponent

I’m not saying it’s poorly illustrated, I just don’t think it looks like Hearthstone art, nor a Warrior card.

I kinda agree, it doesn’t fit but I like it. I’d say lame is not the best description.
