Spell druid might run this but could be overrated as people compare this to Kun who only saw play with pre-nerf Aviana and I don’t think there are any possible combos for this right now.
Nice to meet you again, Kun.
5 Stars.
i dont think kun will ever see the light of day again cuz of this
Omu + Germination + Malygos + Moonfire + Moonfire + Swipe + Swipe
30 dmg
7 cards
If spellburst works as it should, this combo is executable.
On turn 9 or 10, what if you play Omu -> Moonfire -> Malygos -> Moonfire -> Germination (on Malygos) -> Swipe -> Swipe.
Same 7 cards but 35 damage instead.
Spellburst will refresh your mana once, it won’t work
Ah didn’t know that. Guess he’s not as broken as I thought.
But my combo still works 🙂
The issue with that combo is Germination summons a “Copy” of the minion. There’s a chance that the copied minion may not be able to trigger its Spellburst because the first Omu already triggered it. In that case, you essentially get a free Germination, but you won’t be able to repeat Omu’s effect to refresh your mana.
Regardless, this clearly does have strong combo potential. The cost can be reduced by the dormant minion, or you can pull Omu or Malygos with the side quest.
5/5
I’m preatty sure the new Omu will have an unused spellburst effect but I might be wrong
Spellburst goes off after the spell so he will still have the spellburst affect
Sadly Spellburst will trigger before the copy happens so you’ll just end up with another Omu without spellburst.
Spellburst acts as an ‘after spell cast’ Triggered effect
I have a feeling that Spellburst will be similar to Reborn, in the sense that when it’s used up and the minion is then copied, it won’t have Spellburst anymore. But it is possible that Spellburst would trigger after the Germination, but the new copy of Omu, not having been on the battlefield on cast, does not trigger… Guess time will tell.
Actually a pretty strong card. The question is, what kind of deck would want to run this?
So on one hand, you’ve got spell druid. This card might as well be a free 5/4 body that can on occasion even give you EXTRA mana to spend. But spell druid, as the name denotes, is typically very heavy on spells. You just might end up discarding this with a Fungal Fortunes. Plus, spell druid is heavily reliant on the power of Glowfly Swarm. Cutting down on the number of spells in your hand by running this card also cuts down on the number of glowflies you get. All in all, I’d be pretty hesitant to slot this into a Spell Druid build.
You might also consider cheating out another big body on board by running this in Big Druid. But Big Druid is typically not spell-heavy, so the Spellburst effect might be a bit hard to trigger.
Its essentially a zero mana 5/4… but it still feels exclusively like a combo card.
Kun, the Return.
Now only with Spellburst. Or should I say, Spellbust
I am Groot.
The bummer part is that it’s 6 mana and not 7 or 8, which means that in wild this cannot be tutored by psychmellon, so I’ve become more skeptical about this one, at least in wild.
Right now, there’s nothing easy to combo, but let us wait and see. No way nobody finds a way to exploit this.
Omu + Germination + Malygos + Moonfire + Swipe + Swipe + Moonfire = 30 dmg for 10 mana (used 7 cards)
Goddamn Kun looks kinda trash right now lmaooooo
I feel like at this point blizzard simply stopped playtesting their cards and just “you know, let’s just print it and the see how it goes”
Hahahaha so true!
I said the same thing to my friends. They don’t take the time to test them out and see how they’re OP, or not. Or even how they’ll work in the current meta.
They just make them, then nerf the living devil out of them. i.e. Demon Hunter, anyone?
Oh you can just tell someone is going to be plotting out a malygos deck when you have cards like this show up. That 10 cost spell doesn’t look to bad with a card like this letting at least get board presence in the same turn.
Turn 6 this into any 0 cost spell, and you get free 5/4 seems good. Ofc this will be used in combo decks, draw this with jepetto and it’s busted, but it already seems busted if you copy it.
ramp druid is gonna get so much stronger, but im very excited for big plays like this
mjeeeee, I love it!
omgoood, finallyyyy finallyyyyy hell yeaaaa
Wow! Really nice legendary. 5 stars!
Kun got a little brother. I like the card, but it is quite scary. It is probably auto include in every druid deck to come.
Joking aside, this single handedly enables Malygos otk: play Omu into germination (refreshes mana and summons second Omu to refresh mana), play Malygos, moonfire or any cheap spell (refreshes mana) and burn the opponent down.
I don’t know whether the germination copy would still have active spellburst or not, so I’m skeptical that this could make Malygos Druid in standard
Based on what was said on the topic of similar copy cards (i.e. paladin/priest buff spell) it should. Worse case scenario you can use Maiev on him and use his spellburst on Malygos turn.
Update, it has been confirmed by devs that the germination copy will still have active spellburst.
Now it has much more potential, but imo still might be a bit too slow. In wild it might serve as a second Kun if necessary.
I agree on that. It all comes down to how fast the meta will be. With Branching paths and Spreading plague long gone, druid is lacking tools to survive long enough. Perhaps something can be achieved with new healing cards and taunts.
Love it.
Ok, I wonder if you can run a super powerful turn with Germination to copy It, or with the help of Kaelthas to cheat the new 10 mana spell. +4/+4 everywhere!
So basically at 10 mana you spend 3-4 mana to generate tokens or summon something, play this and then play one cheap spell to refresh your mana so you can play Survival of the fittest and buff everything with +4/+4. Seems very doable actually.
And in most situations it’s a “free” 5/5 body that potentially gives you like 4 extra mana on a turn. Getting this with Conjurer’s calling or an evolve effect is also hilariously busted. I love it.
4/5, very dependant on meta being slow.
5/4 body*
You can reverse the order. Play this first, follow with Runic carving for instance (which refreshes mana) and buff everything with Survival of the fittest. You end up with 9/8 and 4*6/6 that can also be given rush.
How do you play Omu (6 mana) and follow it with Runic carvings (6 mana)?
The spellburst limits what you can do once you play Omu so you can’t play him and then play the thunderbloom or wtv to gain 2 mana to cast more things for example. It’s actually something that balances this card pretty nicely.
