Lets compare this card to Stonehill defender, a very powerful card with similar statline and effect.
Stonehill defender was a card run heavily in all metas it existed, but only because it had taunt and the ability to get more taunt (usually attached to a huge minion like the lich king). You almost never chose small minions with strong effects (like Righteous protector) and if you did, it was because you desperately needed a small taunt that turn, further protecting your hero’s health.
Although it has 1 extra health, the lack of taunt makes its 1/5 statline almost useless in aggro.
If you played Stonehill and had the option of either getting two lackey’s or getting the lich king, I’d pick good ol’ 8/8 instantly without a thought, so this card’s effect is probably weaker than stonehill.
And to wrap this all up, stonehill saw virtually zero play in rogue, so I don’t see a minion with a worse body than stonehill with a worse effect than stonehill, being run in a class that did not run stonehill.

(ok arena card though)
But this isn’t a card that has to be run in a control deck. Also, Stonehill defender is one of the strongest cards in the game and has been for a long time. Comparing this card to one of the strongest cards isn’t really fair. The lackeys offer strong battlecries, and this card generates a large amount of value. let’s compare this card to the hunter 5-mana 3/5 that draws 2 one drops (forgot the name). This costs 2 less than the hunter card and draws better 1 drops. The only downsides are the -2 attack and the fact that it has to be comboed, which is very easy to do. Speaking of combos, the lackeys are very useful for triggering combos as they only cost 1 mana, and have useful effects. I could very well see this played in a miracle rogue deck which also runs heistbaron togwaggle, or even a value rogue, as this generates a lot of value. Also, stonehill defender gets you 1 card instead of 2
oof
Hm, this card is hard to rate. I wouldn’t underestimate it, as lackeys are fairly decent. I want to say 3.5/5
Actually have some Inspiration that this Card is going to be Pretty Decent. I wouldn’t throw this away.
I’m not too sure how this will do, as you have to activate it’s combo in order to get the lackeys, and the 3 mana slot, even 3 mana combo slot, for rogue is filled already. But the lackeys are pretty powerful for their 1 cost (and have good flavor), so I might consider substituting SI:7 agent out for this.
Wow so I’ll just mention the fact that the shark makes this scary it’s a combo so it can give 4 cards with battle cry at 1 cost so this is effective at turn 7+ for value play with spirit of the shark out.
No good in Tempo Rogue IMO, because… this is poor tempo. No immediate board impact, and a poor body for an aggressive deck. Also, the 3-mana slot is pretty saturated with Van Cleef, SI:7 Agent and Hench-Clan Thug. Also no good for Pirate Rogue.
Maybe this is good for slower Rogue decks, but it doesn’t seem to be a good fit for Deathrattle Rogue either… I dunno, I just can’t think of any deck archetype that would be happy to include this. 2/5.
Every time I see combo, I am reminded of the great loss of vilespine. And now that I see this, I am further reminded that value rogue is but a pipe dream. But I will never give up on my dreams.
Oh hey update: I finally got my golden rogue hero, so now all other rogue can quiver beneath me.
Rogue my most played class too, close to about 300 wins… argh… still so far far awaaaaaay….. buuut i only play since Witchwood…
A three mana 1/5 isn’t great at doing much other than killing 1/1 token, and EVIL Miscreant will need to compete with SI:7 Agent and Blink Fox for space within the deck.
However, it could still see reasonable play despite the heavy competition because the Lackey cards generally seem very strong. Plus, they can enable further combos in Rogue.
A Tempo Rogue could quite easily slot this is.
In arena, ravencaller weeps silently in the background.
The Lackeys themselves are such great Combo activators. Hard to guess what Tempo Rogue will get up to this expac, but this card should fit right in.
