Dragon Soul Card Review
The first ever legendary weapon and wow, what a powerhouse of a card it is! At 3 mana, it is extremely easy to play. More importantly, it’s yet another “spell activator” for Priest, akin to Lyra. It looks like Spell Priest is getting more and more support and Kobolds & Catacombs might be the peak of that archetype. Currently, Highlander Priest is very heavy on cheap spells and multiple payoff cards – from the win condition of Shadowreaper Anduin to value generators such as Lyra the Sunshard, draw engines like Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Priest of the Feast, Wild Pyromancer, etc. I feel that Dragon Soul slots effortlessly into that deck (among a potential new Priest archetype that might come out from K&C) and is primed with potential for greatness. As far as we are currently aware, it activates for every three spells you cast, including multiple times per turn. 5/5s are relatively big minions and even if they don’t measure up well against your average Deathwing, they are still a threat that must be answered. There is something to be said about utilizing the power of cheap spells (that do very little on their own) to generate extra resources. Adding on top of their value, however more or less it may be, and turning the downside of filling your deck with them into the upside of also generating threats is a powerful and scary thing.
It could also be a completely separate build around card, together with some of the already mentioned, that doesn’t want to be in a highlander style of deck. The added consistency of two copies of all of the cheap spells, multiple Shadow Visions and activators does sound like a deck, and if that deck is churning out 5/5s like crazy, then maybe it’s even a good deck! Time will tell, but it’s certainly an option worth exploring.
Card Review by Chimbarozo
So if you cast 4 spells in a turn does it summon another dragon? Or is it every 3 spells? Or is it just once a turn?
I think a lot of people are missing the potential this gives for Priest. You don’t play this card early – this is a hold and wait kind of card. That said, it works well in Highlander and Dragon priest, which they seem to be bringing back with all the newly added dragon cards.
Like the new Ebon dragon, which lowers a weapon card cost in your hand by 2, making this a 1 mana cast weapon. Sure, you have to cast a bunch of spells to trigger the effects. However, it’s already been confirmed that it doesn’t lose durability on skill activation, and becomes a constant threat that decks have to overcome in late game when their decks have been exhausted. Throw it in a Lyra highlander, or save a slot for Lyra in a dragon deck, or even just big priest control decks, and you have a limitless potential threat just waiting to be exploited.
im priest player this cards is worst card released its completely useless.
if u gonna play 3 mana for nothing then case 3 spell to have a 5 5 body it means too much mana for a simple body u can play scale bane .
it was good if time u cast a spell gain 1 attack at 3 attack sommun a 5 5 dragon.
this i don’t understand this card.if priest gonna be spell casting with anduin he doesn’t need body on board .if he gonna play be silence priest he doesn’t need this body again.
i rly don’t know why this card is created as a legendary weapon cuz its completely trash.
how much dust breaker is a good card this one is trash
While this card looks like an obvious pair with Raza Priest on paper, it really doesn’t do anything for the deck. A 3 mana do nothing card is a lot of investment, and you want a LOT out of a card with that upfront tax. And while getting a 3 mana 5/5 is definitely value (And even more if you do it multiple times), the problem is that if Priest is windmill slamming spells, its probably already won, and an extra 5/5 won’t make the difference. It’s just extra weight that Priest doesn’t need.
Worthless in arena. Super difficult to get it to work even if you happen to draft enough spells for it.
Standard: 1/5
Arena: 1/5
Dragonfire potion counter EZ
oh wait….
Highroll- play it turn3 turn 4 two radiant elementals with card for 2 mana discover spell from ur deck into same untill you have 5 times 5/5 dam we will see 😀
*sax music*
Play lyra with this on board
“Come on and slam, welcome to the jam”
Play 18 spellls, filling board with 5/5 dragons
“Uncanny!”
*record scratch*
Opponent plays nether followed by ooze
“Extraordinary!”
“How could this happen to me..”
Opponent is already dead, as illustrated by the “uncanny!” 18X2=36
mediocre
I like this in Razakus a lot, but it works really well in any decks containing Lyra and Radiant elementals. a 5/5 for 3 mana is actually a great value play, and you could potentially get 2 or 3 onto the board – that would be an effect comparable to a jaraxxus lategame!
It IS a card though that you want to keep in your hand until you combo it – it really is the only major target for an ooze against a priest. This would make it problematic to combo it with Lyra and elementals – you couldn’t play a second elemental into your miracle turn.
I’m also thinking of ways to incorporate Auctioneer into this miracle-ish priest lineup – maybe resurrection effects as an alternative to conceal? We will have to see the other cards this expansion.
Does it cost 1 durability for each dragon Summoned?
Nope, it does not lose durability when activated.
I wasn’t able to find any confirmation of this – though that doesn’t mean its not necessarily true. if it is true, then the mage weapon is really good but really dangerous (due to fatigue), and this weapon only makes highlander priest better in the lategame
It was confirmed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/7ans10/regarding_the_new_legendary_weapons/dpbpqlo/?context=3
Thank you!
This card doesn’t make me feel like blizzard is bringing back the dragon archetype but giving priest a way of gaining board without the consequence of dragonfire potion. It can be easily pulled off with a Lyra miracle turn or a shadow visions loop. Overall a decent card that looks like a nice addition to the game. I’m looking forward to playing it.
When I saw this card I thought it was neutral legendary and immediately saw the potential in rogue and druid. However as priest legendary it makes more sense.
This is an amazing weapon, about time control decks get cool weapons. 3 mana 15/15 stats over game. Even if it gets removed, it basically forces your opponent to run ooze in his deck and makes it worth it after summoning 1 5/5.
5/5 card, fun and amazing. It being a dragon is a super good bonus also.
(pst guys, it has nothing to do with dragon decks just dragonfire potion)
It doesn’t lose durability so it can summon more that three dragons
The first deck I ever crafted was a dragon priest deck. Seems like dragon priest is dyeing as it doesn’t seem like Blizzard is inclined to add enough dragons into the game to really create an archetype.
Sadly this card requires lots of spells to be good, and dragon priest doesn’t have enough to reliably trigger this. Maybe a razakus-dragon priest? Maybe I am asking two much, but I know if I get this I will try to make it work.
3/5
This card has 0 synergy with dragons tho, the only thing is the tokens don’t die by the dragonfire potion, which is real good (and real bad in mirror :P)
infinite 5/5s for razakus? busted.
Yeah this works so well with kyra and even without it the effect will still be able to be pulled off. No one thought you could pull off Sherazin, but that card is really good and even easy to pull of in arena
5/5
Might be cool in Big Priest and Raza. It might actually dodge a lot of the weapon destruction effects because people are already teching with Crawlers. You can’t afford to run 2 ooze and two crawlers in most decks.
If your deck is weak to control use ooze. If your deck is weak to tempo-rogue, use crawler, it’s that simple,
SIMPLE MORTAL IF THIS WOULD BE USED IN BIG PREIST YOU WOULD HAVE LOTS OF 5/5s THAT WILL BE IN YOUR GRAVEYARD
So, it has an attack of 0. If you never attack, it never loses a charge, and this will happen every time you cast three spells in a turn…? Or does it lose a charge every time you meet the requirements…?
I love the fact that we’re getting new card mechanics and that other hero classes are getting weapons/magic items. Very cool! It will breath new life into the weapon destruction cards.
It doesn’t lose a charge. At least, if it does, it’s not specified on the card, and that’s bad game design which should be fixed immediately.

Probobly the same as that card.
That does lose carge each time you met the requirment.
Well, the issue with your example is that Atiesh actually specifies in the card text that it loses Durability. This doesn’t. So you can’t reliably say that it loses durability.
Yep #harrison jones
Seems pretty cool. The spell requirement is pretty reasonable. This may fit into Big Priest, or even potentially revive Miracle Priest. Not sure about the Big Priest one, though. It still seems pretty good. Looking forward to seeing the other weapons!
I’M IN CHARGE NOW!!!!
Yes, I like the idea. Magic items for non weapon classes…. Tell me more.
I’M IN CHARGE NOW!!!
