as Warlock only player this card is like 2/5… dont wanna give it 1 only because its for warlock and combo breaker… in the end this card is not good
100% unreliable. Why slot this into your deck? You lose 1 or 2 card slots thinking that you can mess with those combo decks, to only realize that more than half of the time, you can just give them a better card and screw up yours.
What is this card gonna do with odd paladin now? Would this card matter if you hit that tar creeper in a taunt druid deck and give them a voidlord or a 5/7 freakin charge
Most combo decks that are popular nowadays rely on 1 card. Having to gamble just to get a chance to screw it up would end to your demise more often.

This is either going to be a bonkers card that wins on the spot versus combo decks (Maly Druid and Shudderwock Shaman don’t look like they’re goin anywhere) orrrr Rebuke 2.0, where it turns out playing guessing games with what’s in your opponents hand turns out to be just a bit too RNG to bother. Fun card for sure, though.
This will work exactly like dirty rat (the 2/6 body were already nullified by the stats put into play with charge). Now control warlock could become good both against aggro and combo. I’m thinking about a control lock without Rin but with 2x of these, 2x gnomeferatu, maybe zola / elise / banker.
Definitely a very good Control Warlock tool which wants to outlast combo decks like Malygos and Shudderwock. Also can turn your useless tech minions in a matchup into something better. I’m just a bit disappointed it’s not an odd-costed card, since I’ve been wanting to run Odd Control Quest Warlock for a while now, but it basically lacks a good amount of control tools. So, this card was obviously done to disrupt the opponent’s hand. It can backfire if your opponent gets something good, but Warlocks are the class that takes risks anyway, right? I’m glad to see some kind of Dirty Rat interaction back in standard. Noteworthy is that it can also disrupt Skull of the Manari and Bloodreaver Gul’dan’s battlecry, which might be great vs opposing Warlocks (imagine a Cube Warlock with Skull equipped, you play this and they get a Howlfiend in their hand, which is then summoned in their next turn… *bwahahahaha*). Also, I believe this card will make Jaraxxus appear more often again, which is great, I miss the Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion for a while now. Giving this 2.5/5 stars because it’s not strong, but it’s also a nice tool which I believe will see play.
I think this card is better than people realize, will be a staple in control style warlock decks which struggle currently because of the prevalence of combo decks that can burst you down from a high total. Only card currently that will stop the new maly druid from trampling the meta.
I don’t think you will play this card together with Gul’dan. If you hit your own Gul’dan: Byebye!

its much better than people give it credit for. Just compare it to dirty rat. That is an epic card. Downside is you get your oponents high cost minion son the field. And this has none of it. Especially in wild where reno lock is just after baka pala and gen shamy. And in my opinion reno lock beats the crap out of both of them. this thing just made Lock from number one control deck in all the formats to beyond number one. I don;t want to point out the priest. But all of the priest control tools that make him win the board are neutral cards. Like n’zoth. kazakus. Reno. Priest has no win condition on his own and lock not only has that but his board clears don’t have the priest’s backdoors. And bloodreaver gul’dan is just another board fill that priest cant even imagine to clear. Where is machine gun priest. Why isn’t it coming back. Why is raza still garbage and didn’t revert to being OK.

I love how Blizzard allow players to interact with each other hand. I also love how that interaction may hurt back.

Not so much to be called manipulate, just mess with him a little. Heasthstone needs this kind of interaction, once very three expansion is enough.
I like that they are looking at adding back in potential hand disruption tools as I don’t like how in the current meta control decks have no way to defend against combo decks.
However, I don’t like this card very much. It seems worse than dirty rat and the fact that it’s only for warlocks is disappointing. I can’t see this having much impact at all.

Probably not. Even if there were to be one, it would be useless against Druid, Priest, Mage, Warlock, and Shaman a lot of the time.
I give it a solid 4 mainly because disruption has been seriously lacking so any disruption card is super healthy for the game right now.

Well, unlike Dirty Rat, this doesn’t come with a body and you’re spending two mana to hope you do something. At least with Rat you instantly knew if you did.
If you remember Rebuke from the Witchwood, it not hard to see that this will probably follow a similar path unless combo decks remain popular. Even then such a tool is restricted to Warlock.
Also if you had seen the demo, you do see the card you transform in the opponents hand. So you will actually know right away.
It still doesn’t come with the overstated body and is next to worthless against aggro deck as a result.

So this card…I get that some cards are bad cards in general, but there should never be a point where nobody wants to play a card ever.

Dirty Rat at least came with a body on the board and like Loatheb, that body was at least half of the reason the card saw any play.
The hype cycle surrounding this card will very much resemble Rebuke’s from Witchwood. Granted, this does have a higher chance of seeing play, but only is Combo decks continue to see success in the format. But against a aggro or tempo deck, you could very easily give them a better card for the latter game.
By “win condition” I’m referring to any single card that highly increases your chances of winning the game, not necessarily an autowin card.
The main place I see people trying to play this is to mess up combo decks like maly druid. It seems good to hit a key combo piece like maly druid, but it’s just too all over the place to be successful.
Like soup and salad said, this offers no body and no taunt. And even if you do hit your opponent’s maly, you may have given your opponent a jaraxus instead. So is docking yourself an extra card, and spending two Mana for a chance to mess up your opponent worth it? I think for every game this helps you win, it will cause you to lose 10.

This is a really weird tech option against combo decks. Other than that, it’s next to useless. A two mana do nothing card is not good.
In Even warlock you can use this as a tech for combo while also adding value to your DK. I can imagine at least one will be put in the deck.
Yes. I really want a Twilight Drake in my hand to be replaced with a Witchwood or Blood Imp while also costing me two mana and a card in hand.
The only minion in that deck I would want to replace with a random demon would be Genn and even then, it is rarely worth two mana to hope a worthless card is turned into a one that could be decent.
You just stated a less than 10% chance scenario. There are more good demons than there are bad in standard. And even then, the goal of the card is not to create value but to tech specifically against combo. If the meta needs it, one will be played.
You bringing up rebuke (elsewhere in this thread) is also pointless because it is still a good tech options against specific combos. However, the meta hasn’t really been in need of it as of yet. The same will go for this card. Just because it hasn’t seen play yet (or see play immediately) doesn’t mean it isn’t good and that it won’t show up later.
It being the only hand disruption card in the standard set right now, I think will guarantee it in at least one archetype of warlock in its two years.
Looking at the whole of the demon selection in Standard at the moment, there are maybe seven or eight Even Warlock would want to play, let alone pay two mana to replace a card with.
Rubuke, yes, is a good option against particular combos, but it is no Loatheb. Likewise, this is no Dirty Rat. If this does see play it will be because Combo decks are running rampant and there is no other option for Warlocks. Granted, the match-ups Even Warlock has against Shudderwock Shaman and Malygos Druid are far from awful to begin with, slight edge and even respectively. Something like this could tilt the scales in Even Warlock’s favor more, but Shudderwock Shaman plays so many minions, you’re chances of hitting Shudderwock or Grumble will probably be minimal, so it really only matters with Malygos Druid and decks that play Leeroy.
It will probably see play in a Combo centric format in control centric Warlock deck, but even in those cases, playing Aggressive decks like Zoo will probably be a better option in general.

Random minion into random demon, zero tempo -> unreliable tech card, not good on ladder.
What I would have liked: Neutral, 4 Mana, 2/2, Battlecry: Discover a card in your opponents hand, discard it.
So basically you want a card that wins the game on the spot?A body that can be recycled back to the hand too keep discarding away win conditions and to top it off you do not even lose card advantage as you are still getting a 2/2.Please think before you type.

The card you just threw up would break the game for combo decks. Try again. All hand disruption has to be rng and NEVER discover.
I suggested a card that is slow tempo and Discover has still RnG. So there is that.
Control decks can’t win anything right know, so there has to be a reliable way to counter. Maybe pay 5 for it, I’m not a game designer. But make it discover. I hold on to that. In other card games, you can even decide which card to discard.
Discover makes the card WAY too strong. It let’s you see THREE cards in their hand. That alone is powerful and game warping.
For reference trap dustshoot in ygo is a trap card (so it’s slow af) that looks at your opponents hand and you pick a card to get rid of. That card has been on the banlist for like 14 years and is never coming off. Those effects give WAY too much information and warp the game and destroy combo decks too easily. Imagine if Dirty Rat let you pick.
It could be 10 mana 2/2 legendary and still break the game. There are better ways of giving control an advantage without ruining combo decks for everyone. No one would play combo decks if your card made it through.
@dukestarswisher I guess you are liking combo decks (correct me if I’m wrong) and that’s ok. I would like to have a way to counter it reliably with control decks. I think a 5 mana 2/2 is slow enough to make it shitty against any other type of deck than full combo.
@Nickname23 Ok so you are right, a 5 mana 2/2 is fine for hand disruption if it is NOT a discover card. I don’t think you realize that that isn’t just a tech for combo, it serves as a viable removal tool against any deck and also tells you two other cards that are currently in your opponents hand.
I think you should stick with the 4 mana 2/2 and make it a random minion in their hand. And I play several different archetypes of decks. Just because I’m defending Combos doesn’t mean I strictly play them.
No, I want discover, what is my subjective opinion on the game. It would shift the meta towards traditional Control vs. Aggro / Midrange and away from Combo, what I would be liking.
Feel free to play different archetypes, I’ve no problem with that.
@Nickname23 Do you know what happens when you eliminate rock from “rock, paper, scissors”? Everyone would play scissors. That is essentially what you would do to the meta.
Dropping an absolute bomb on combo decks is an idea they will never do.

I can clearly tell you aren’t a game designer. What you suggest is broken beyond belief and anyone with just a slight understanding of how Hearthstone works would be able to see that. If you made it a Glimmeroot effect with just a slight chance of discarding, it would still be an auto include in my opinion. Also, just because some other card games does what you suggest, doesn’t mean that Hearthstone can do the same.. Regarding this card.. I have never felt so much hatred towards a card as this one! It gives you a demon that occupies a space in your hand that heals your opponent for 5 and dies when you play it (sac pact) probably with a crappy battlecry or effect.. And it destroys combo decks
This card isn’t as good as you think, will rarely see play, so you can save your hate for other things.
strangest dirty rat card I’ve ever seen. Seems OP vs maly druid if dropped at the correct time. It’s like Rebuke, but if it goes off correctly, it hurts all of the enemy’s turns after that.

The Dirty Rat replacement, which I…don’t like. Dirty Rat provided a vital tech option to a lot of classes, but this one keeps the worst of the card (its variance) while locking it to one class and providing none of the interesting flexibility that Dirty Rat had. I’m not going to comment on the power level of the card, because I don’t know, but in terms of design I HATE it.
This card is tough to place. Looking at it purely for the demons it generates, there’s too much variance fir it to be really useful. As a warlock, you’ll always get better use out of your demons than another class, but if you pull a Flame Imp and they pull a Void Lord, it wasn’t worth the two mana.
That being said, this card allows you interact with the opponents hand. I know a lot of people have been hoping to see some form of combo interrupter like Dirty Rat, and this is that. Playing this and transforming a shudderwock into a Vulgar Hommunculus is the dream, the problem is, unlike Dirty Rat, you have no way of knowing whether you hit anything of use or if was straight wasted. I feel like this can’t see play in slower paced warlock decks because it could very easily remove your high impact minions and I feel like it won’t see play in faster paced warlock decks because there’s better things to be spending 2 mana on… Maybe might see play in Even Warlock as a tech card but even then… Difficult to say. Has potential, but seems risky.

You DO see what got transformed, and into what! Your opponent sees your transformed minion too. I will gloat in Shudderwock Shamans conceding when this card hits their Jaws that bite.
Damn another good warlock removal spell, and this one is cheep, can break most combo decks with two of these.
Yeah removing your opponents firefly and replacing it with a jaraxxus is the best removal card in the game!
