While still being the best way to summon a lot of volatile skeletons, this card manages to be the worst one out of the ones we got to see. It’s simply too situational and hard to make work: not a lot of decks are that susceptible against board removals which only do 2 damage, and the fact that it hits your board too isn’t that good. Sure, it kills and replaces your volatile skeletons that you already summoned, but apart from those it also damages the rest of your minions, and it just feels a bit too weak for 6 mana. Not to mention that it’s completely useless against control decks, which makes it so Kel Thuzad also will struggle to leave that much of an impact against them.
Don’t sleep on this card. It looks like a crappy Blizzard at first glance, but if you build a skeleton deck, you’re going to be pushing face/value trading with the skeletons, playing this card to kill off your skeletons & resummon them, and the deathrattles from the skeletons are proccing to push more face/finish clearing board.
Skeleton Mage will likely be a trash meme deck, but this card is deceptively good in that deck.
I think what you’re all missing about this is the fact that it is built around a volatile skeleton deck (obviously), but what this means is that if your board is full of skeletons, you can use the spell after going face with all your skeletons on board and then reset the field and have more skeletons back on the board while exploding your own skeletons for even more damage to enemies due to their deathrattle.
Decent at 5 mana, but garbage at 6.
I cant describe how bad this card is. What were they thinking?
6 mana to deal 2 damage to all minions is pretty garbage.
You need atleast 3 minions to die to have atleast a resonable average 6 mana effect.
And if you have to try to kill you own minions or shards or skeletons than it´s pretty bad if you have to do that.
If it were like blizzard it would be a very good card with an extra skeleton effect.
The skeleton itsself are pretty slow and bad If you can summon 3 at turn 6 its still pretty weak.
What they were thinking was this:
– Build a deck around summoning lots of skeletons
– Play this to explode your skeletons and then resummon them with the effect
– Play Kel’Thuzad to resummon all skeletons from the game.
Is it good? Probably not. Is this card the worst card I’ve ever seen? Definitely not. It requires a package of cards to work properly, but this is better than cards like Immolate or that legendary Warlock minion that came out last mindset (Commander Ulthok or whatever?).
yikes
2/5
I’m not seeing it. It’s obviously better than something like Blast Wave of the past, but this card is still absolutely horrendous without Spell Damage.
