Dead Ringer Card Review
When you look at this card, the most obvious comparison would be Loot Hoarder. 2 mana 2/1, draws a card on Deathrattle. However, generally speaking, drawing SPECIFIC cards tends to be stronger than drawing cards in general, for a few reasons. It’s more consistent, you can guess what you will draw more consistently, it helps with the synergies etc.
So the first and most obvious candidate for this card is any kind of Deathrattle Priest. If you play a Deathrattle build, no matter if it’s a Quest Priest or maybe some Midrange deck with Coffin Crasher, you want to have your Deathrattle minions. And unlike Loot Hoarder, this will always draw them.
However, a more specific scenario that a lot of people seem to be missing is tutoring a specific card in your deck. When you play a deck with lots of Deathrattles, this isn’t that much different from a Loot Hoarder. But if you play only a few given Deathrattle minions, then it’s a whole another story. It’s similar to how Sandbinder works in Shudderwock Shaman – the deck wants to draw Grumble, Worldshaker for the combo, and this card helps with that. If you play the deck, it probably saved your neck many times, when Grumble was stuck at the bottom of your library.
It’s not on a level of a tutor card like Town Crier (which is honestly one of the best cards in the game right now, it’s just that Rush decks don’t really work), but it’s still solid. It will most likely see play in a deck like Quest Priest, where it won’t be amazing, but will be solid enough – probably a slightly better version of Loot Hoarder. And might see play in decks that want to tutor a specific Deathrattle card, like, I don’t know, Obsidian Statue or Carnivorous Cube.
P.S. It’s also a Mech, but Priest isn’t among the classes that are supposed to get Mech focus this expansion, so it might not matter.
Card rating: 6/10
How does a class restricted loot hoarder get 4.1/5
Because it’s a tutor loot hoarder. You don’t top deck, you get one of the big pieces you need straight up.
This is auto-include in Quest Priest. Better than Loot Hoarder, and you can even still play both cards if you wish. Otherwise, a non-Quest Deathrattle Priest could use this card… but the deck has never been remotely good. Coffin Crasher has potential though, and this card would go into that deck, probably. 3/5 stars, although I doubt we will see much of the decks where this card goes into. Quest Priest so far only has fatigue as a win-con versus other Control decks, and that is not good enough in a meta where Control Decks have high-value win-cons.
i dont understand quest priest only fatigue? all the quest priest i see are combo like raza and it is very strong in wild with emperror i have 80 dmg record in 1 turn.u should consider some watchinfg or play that u said is for 1 year ago
My comment was mostly for Standard, I know in Wild Raza Priest is a good/decent deck. In Standard Quest Priest needs to rely on fatigue and value generators like Bone Drake to stand a chance vs Control. Anduin is not enough if you don’t run Mind Blasts, especially vs classes that armor up and heal.
I think this card is very strong. Loot hoarder itself is pretty good, but this has the ability to be just another support card in quest priest, or like Sandbinder you can have one specific deathrattle card in which you want to target. The fact it draws specifically makes it a much stronger Loot. Too bad Deathwing Dragonlord is wild. Dragon priest would be awesome with this support and specific target for late game.
Problem with DR Priest, you still need a new wincondition since nzot is gone,
y y u can play combo version
quest priest is already a deck look it up
quest priest is already a deck look it up
Very good support card. If there will be a powerful deathrattle priest (doesn’t have to be quest) this will be nuts.
Yay quest preist can have more variety now.
This will be a nice upgrade to loot hoarder for Priests to play with. One of the issues with this card is that is can search a second copy of itself. For Quest Priest, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I would rather get bigger Deathrattles like Obsidian Statue to my hands.
Either way, it’s still a minion that will replace itself. Loot Hoarder is a good card, and this is a version of this card that will be better in at least some cases. I doubt it’ll bring Quest Priest to new heights all by itself, but it will help.
most quest priests dont really run big deathrattles apart from bone drake
I already knew that, but I personally would want to bring something big like that to my hand the most.
Loothoarder sees Play in quest priest so will this Card. now u can run 4 loothoarder. nothing super super strong but definetly sees Play 5/5 in quest priest
Guess it’s like shifting shade but earlier. Also comparable to gravedigger. Important 2 drop for priest, just doesn’t affect the board enough
Gravedigger costs one more and most likely gives you garbage. With this you KNOW you’re getting a good card. If you weren’t….then why is it in your deck?
So they really want the deathrattle quest/priest to start working.
I played only quest priest since the release of Un’Goro so all this cards are making me very happy
Damn you guys are quick to update 😀
