Cutthroat Buccaneer Card Review
Naga Corsair is rotating out, and Rogue gets another way to buff the weapon. However, I’d say that Naga Corsair was better. 2/4 for 3 seems worse than 5/4 for 4, and this effect is a combo, not a Battlecry, so you often won’t be able to play it on curve. Still, it’s good to have some sort of alternative.
While I don’t see Kingsbane Rogue working in Standard after losing all of those cards, this is a good start. The weapon buff part is incredibly important in Kingsbane decks, since you want to make it as big as quickly as possible.
Outside of Kingsbane Rogue? I don’t really think it will see play. SI:7 Agent seems better most of the time if you don’t try to buff a specific weapon. And other than Kingsbane, the only weapon that you would specifically want to buff is the new Spectral Cutlass, and to be honest, I’m still not sold on that card.
Card rating: 5/10
Not a great replacement for Squidface; benefits from the fact that you control the activation but still… and with Coldlight Oracle rotating out Kingsbane Mill is going to be dead anyway.
The combo mecanic on this card is making it bad in my opinion. That mecanic is quite heavy on the cost. Just look at the vilespine slayer for example, it’s the same effect and cost as assassinate, but comboed with 3/4 minion. Effectively combo mecanic justified the 3/4 body on the board.
This minion however, is weak in stats and in effect. The only redeeming factor for this is the new rush minion that draws the combo cards. But still, it’s very mediocre at best.
Either
1) This minion should have better stats for its current cost, mechanics and effect.
2) It should award 2 weapon damage for its current stats, mechanics and cost.
The second option would make this card much better, i think.
All hail wild !
This won’t make up for the lack of worthwhile midgame minions a Kingsbane Rogue will have access to coming into the Witchwood. It is nice to have a new Goblin Auto-barber around and the stats are okay enough.
This will find its way somewhere before it dies and goes to wild.
Kingsbane is still lacking on weapon buffs for standard mode… /sadface
Another Card to have for Kingsbane Rouge.
Horray!
Worse than a 5-4 common. Rogue is going to have a hard time
Kingsbane support, finally. And it’s mediocre, why couldn’t this be a 3/4? But it’s something, so 3/5 stars.
