Cursed Castaway Card Review
Cursed Castaway. I like combining Rush with Deathrattle, because those keywords synergize with each other quite nicely. A rush card will usually be used to attack a minion right away, often even dying on the spot. That’s a plus, because you play a card and get a card – you don’t lose card advantage. At the same time, Rogue doesn’t care THAT much about card advantage, and this card isn’t very high tempo. 6 mana to deal 5 to a minion is pretty meh in terms of how much you can do. I would understand if it was Charge, but I feel like this should cost one mana less, or at least have 6 attack instead.
A lot of people compare it to Starfire that can’t go face, and Starfire doesn’t see play. While it makes some sense, I don’t think that it’s necessarily a fair comparison. I think that this is better than Starfire. First of all, it’s a minion – it can survive if you run it into something with 0-2 attack, or you can even play it on an empty board if you have nothing else to do. It’s not great, but 5/3 on the board is often better than 5 face damage.
Then, drawing specific cards is usually better than just drawing, because you can build your deck around the effect. In case of Rogue, though, Combo cards are already some of the best cards in your deck. Eviscerate, SI:7 Agent, Elven Minstrel, Vilespine Slayer – those are all great cards.
Well, it’s a Deathrattle, so it could take advantage of Deathrattle synergies. Like, a 5/3 Rush would be an amazing Deathrattle to revive from N'Zoth, The Corruptor. However, not only N’Zoth rotates out, but Deathrattle Rogue decks were never good.
It’s not the worst card revealed so far, but I feel like it’s not good enough. Seems one mana too expensive – it would be amazing at 5 mana. Might be used if some really powerful combo card gets released, something that you really want to draw every game. Or maybe if that combo card is a part of some, well, combo, and you want to tutor. If neither of those will be the case, this card is below average and likely won’t see play.
Card rating: 4/10 (unless we see some really powerful combo card you want to draw every game)
Last rogue card must be a combo card then, but I thought it was supposed to be a secret? Maybe that was a one time thing, or maybe they just don’t want to support it yet. Who knows?
Something to search for Oil in Wild;
Hhmmm;
Thicc
Change it to Charge and it would be good
Then it would be rocketeer with a powerful deathrattle to stronk
Would’ve been great in a N’Zoth deck I’ve never seen deathrattle minions attack straight away after being resurrected by N’Zoth
New addition to my thicc rogue deck compliments Sonya
This card is terrible if it is a starfire that can’t go face for rogue, but it might hint that there is a broken combo card, so that this is shiny finder for it.
But you had to play no combos in the deck so that it works.
It feels unfair how some classes get all the garbage and other classes like priest get broken cards….
It’s because the classic set isn’t balanced. Rogues classic cards are more powerful than Priest so expansions favour the “weaker” classes. Until the hall of fame rotations get more fine tuned Rogue’s expansions will feel underwhelming on reveal.
That allso says that rogue is allways stuck on playing the same thing. Tbh i dont find that a legitimate reason. Rogue is currently on the low end. So is warrior but blizz continues to print bad or meme cards for these classes.
The hell are you on about. Rogue has consistently been on the high for over a year aside from the latest nerf. This 2 month period right now is the only bad time to be a rogue in 4-5 expansions
And honestly, I can see a few combos that will probably be pretty exploitable by Rogue. Their class legendaries aside (which seem fun), they still have plenty of networth for weapon decks miracle.
You just have to understand Rogue to play Rogue.
to be fair, the top 5 priest decks are losing 9+ cards to the standard rotation. besides big priest, that only loses 4 but one of those is barnes. each one of those decks are virtually unplayable. miracle rogue loses 2, tempo rogue loses 2.
i don’t think that makes it right, i just think it puts in into perspective. priest as a class relies on the expansions more than any other class especially the first one of a rotation
High mana unbalance body average keyword…
And a pirate
If it were five it would be toooooooo good because than you could drop Ignacio twice with Valeera DK
So this is basically the replacement for Shadow Strike?
… if the last few rogue cards didn’t confirm it, Blizzard is making rogue cards based on the KFT rogue meta.
it will be played in all rogue decks, because rogue don’t have much else to play
Dude i m laughing this for 3 days. You are right rogue is the most hated class.
its actually insane how different the power level of revealed cards within classes is
This can search out some rather decent cards and with the combination of Rush and Deathrattle, it can functionally be a better Starfire.
This getting Vilespine Slayer or Edwin VanCleef for the late game will be very powerful. The question is whether Rogue will be good enough after the rotation.
they want somehow push rogue in a more midrange/control type of play
This doesn’t really look like a midrange card. This seems more like an answer card to efficiently kill a threat while replacing itself more than being a threat in it of itself. You wouldn’t want to play this in a midrange rogue deck unless it had like 3 extra health.
the cards rogue get are just rlly slow paced, like you get everytime something on the hand i mean of course you dont play this card cause its just bad but the cards the rogue gets are just not tempo based
In the last set, they got Elvish Minstrel, Corridor Creeper, and Sonya Shadowdancer. Those were at least before the nerfs pretty fast paced cards.
The class as a whole is about having cheap, efficient answers to whatever is thrown on the board, and yes some of their recent support has been more control oriented. The removal aspects of tempo decks are only a couple steps removed from getting that deck to a full blown control deck. It’s just a control deck also needs to heal themselves decently enough, and Rogue doesn’t have that at the moment.
Better than any Druid cards revealed so far.
Which isn’t saying much.
This should cost 5 mana. A spell that cost 5 mana and read: deal 5 damage to a minion, draw a combo card from your hand would be fair. 6 mana makes this unplayable. I feel for Rogues. Got two bad legendaries, a horrible epic… 2/5 stars.
We haven’t see the second Rogue Legendary minion yet.
Yes we did. Game of Thrones Jaqen H’gar. Check it out. It’s cool, but does not fit Rogue.
That is the first Rogue legendary… we still haven’t seen the second
It maybe TRACKER
For some reason I thought this was a legendary. I must be color blind or something. Sorry!
When is something good going to come out for rogues? late game, expensive, too late for most combo cards to be effective. As a rogue player, I am completely underwhelmed
Cheap Shot looks pretty good. At least better than the other Rogue cards revealed so far.
Edwin, Vilespine, and Elven Minstrel come to mind first.
Doesn’t seem insane, but I like it overall
