C’Thun Additional Information
- Check out our C’Thun Wallpaper!
- C’Thun maintains any buffs it received from cards like Beckoner of Evil if returned to hand. So, if you were to Sap C’Thun, it would still have the same buffed stats once played again. It would lose, however, buffs like Blessing of Kings. [Source]
- Cards that buff your C’Thun will only buff YOUR C’Thun and not your opponents. [Source]
- If C’Thun is taken by something like Mind Control the stats on the card remain the same. [Source]
- “If C’Thun is transformed with cards like Hex or Polymorph, it will not be brought back by Doomcaller.” [Source]

My favorite old god. nuf said.
Kinda stupid question but if you have a C’Thun and then get another one from something like unstable portal, does cards that buff C’Thun buff both of them?
Yes, because C’Thun buffs are on the Hero
Probably someone has already asked this. Can you get c-thun from the golden monkey?
I’m pretty sure you could.
standard OTK rouge deck idea:
c’thun + all of the cultists
a lot of return abilities(brewmasters/shadow step)
ancient harbinger(for the sake of consistency, c’thun could be the bottom of the deck)
just play c’thun and return him over and over until opponent dies
I see so many people criticizing the new cards from whispers of the old gods. But honestly i stopped playing hearthstone just a few weeks after i started. But this expansion honestly made me want to come back. This expansion is gonna change everything we knew before. Everybody keeps saying “Oh well but these cards are shitty cuz bgh is gonna nuke them all! ~” come on guys. Blizzard have finally decided to actually nerf cards. And bgh is on top of the list. And besides that all the 7/? Can get nuked by him. That’s never made people think any of the older cards were bad. I mean Dr. Boom is the most favorited legendary… But he’s on bgh’s list of killable targets. Still he dominates the board. People should just accept that these cards brings a whole new style to the table. I think it’s a big mistake to give C’thun out free. But it doesn’t change the fact that he’s OP as fuck. You just need the right deck. Blizzard has already showen a card that can pull a 10 cost mana right out of your deck! See that’s a game changer! ๐ I like it more than any of their older packs. I didn’t feel like they did anything but making the game more unfair. Like GVG is uselss without classic. So new players will have to buy a bunch just to have a chance to get started. While older players are dominating them without even giving them a chance. I know i’m just saying the same over and over again and again. But you get the point guys. These cards are here to stay and everybody talking bad about them will regret it when they dominate everything <3
I could see these C’thun cards being disgusting with a rogue deck utilizing brann, gang up, shadowstep, and maybe prep / vanish. Kind of like the current mill rogue, but using this as a win condition instead of mill, obviously. The biggest issue I see is card draw, but there’s a lot of ways to deal with that.
Did you seriously just say that card draw is an issue in a rogue deck? Tell your dealer to tone it down a little.
all these cards in this expansion just seem so slow…
either aggro is going to rape the meta again or the meta is going to screech down to a crawl.
Non-shaman aggro isn’t gonna be too big of a deal with all their good cards gone or nerfed.
I’m curious how this interaction would work, more out of curiosity than anything, rather than it being a good idea:
In a C’Thun deck, also running Golden Monkey. What I’m specifically thinking of is that obviously your actual C’Thun would get the buffs as it is supposed to, but what if in the late game, after they dealt with C’Thun, you play Golden Monkey. Two Questions: 1.) I assume C’Thun is a possible Legendary to receive? (I see no reason for it not to be, but it’s worth asking since it seems to have unique rules in certain ways). And 2.) If you do get a C’Thun via Golden Monkey, will it have the buffs that your original one had (or also extra buffs from C’Thun cards played post-C’Thun?
What do people think?
I assume all buffs are to any c’thun you own at that point in the game, so the golden monkey c’thun will be a 6/6. Likewise, in a c’thun mirror, I imagine you can steal you opponent’s c’thun and then your buffs affect both your’s and the stolen one. If the buffs do effect base stats and all c’thuns you own, gang up will be a fun card. ๐
It is confirmed that ming controlling a player’s c’thun will get his c’thuns stats, but I don’t know if there is a hidden property of “this is x player’s c’thun” that stays with it. If there is, mind control effects will be brutal as the minion can keep growing.
I’m curious to try running this with Deathwing (crazy I know). DW would act as insurance against a mind control or a Sylvanas and clear out your opponents board, plus leave you with a second monster minion. Or play it first to clear your opponent out and then he spends his turn 10 dealing with DW while you sit there chuckling darkly to yourself about what happens next.
Muhahahaha
Good luck making sure that you draw C’Thun right after using Deathwing.
I never said it would be consistent, just fun enough to be worth playing 20-30 times just to get it right once.
For the record I am a theorycraft player I don’t really play ladder I just love constructing crazy decks with unlikely but amazing (when they hit) interactions.
Does anyone know how this card affects things like ancient shieldbearer and is affected by beckoners if you have 2 or more in your hand/deck? From entomb, u. portal etc.?
Im going to assume that the card buffs are tracked through something unique to that player (hopefully).
This would mean that it would maintain buffs when sapped, brought through portals or summoned using forbidden shaping (obviously the battle-cry wouldn’t activate, but a 24/24 is pretty good)
Otherwise, we can go and cry in a corner lol

cant wait to see the other gods, if anyone has any information who will they be please write bellow ๐
Yogg Saron, N’zoth and Y’shraaj is the other old gods according to the lore
Maybe, but there are 16 cards that interact with him. What if one of them fishes him?
Imagine a Gahz’rilla (6,9) gets hit 8 times by C’Thun and hero survives. That would be 6 x 2^8 = 1536 damage.
that would be a trolden moment
As cool as that would be, Gahz is not usable in Standard.
I have played Arch-Thief Rafaam for fun, and the 10 spell 10 dmg split to all enemies is my basic option. Very often it close the game. The card is good if it reach 10. it all depends on the other related card, we have to wait.
I’ve found that the Lantern is often a better option since you can win the game if they ever leave a single minion on the board till your turn again. Also if running Naga Sea Witch you can use it to play a 10 mana 15/15.
I think the portal is best against slow decks that don’t have good board clears, so anything exept priest, mage or paladin really
Hello Grim Patron
Yeah, Grim patron will be in in every deck in existence after this expansion comes out.
too bad wont be in standard
Yes it will be
uh… You very obviously haven’t actually read what the format rotation does…
Dr.10 totally
6mana Emperor Thaurissan x1
2mana brann x1
1mana beckoner x2
0mana shadow step x2
1mana Youthful Brewmaster x2
0mana conceal x1
10mana total
(+2/+2 x 6) x 2 = +12/+12 x 2 = +24/+24
10-9mana Cโhun x1 6/6 (+24/+24 – 30/30) + brann = have fun
Possibly the most insane combo I have ever seen but i will be trying it none the less.
To be perfectly honest it would be more efficient to just use cards other than beckoner to buff C’thun, use Brann to get in a final +8/+8 right before you play the big guy, and then Use Shadowstep on C’Thun instead of the cultists. The combo requires less parts and it means if the other player didn’t die from the battlecry you get to try again next turn.
Im not sure if this card will be good, but we only have seen 2 of the 16 cards that work with c’thun soooo, we’ll see….
This card is bad.I guess you build a board with cards that do nothing spacial, just adding dmg to this card, having not the best states. And then… turn 10. You might think your 15 or 16 dmg is your winning condition? But you need to reach turn 10… and don’t forget it deals dmg to all! So it’s not otk.. and the best bgh target..
So my conclusion- it’s a worse version of Murlockadin.. as you have 2 cards of anyfin(twice more chance to draw) and as you fill your board turn 10 with good minions and not just a 15-15 which can be stoped by a sylvanas turn 9.. think about it
“Deal damage equal to this minionโs Attack randomly split among all ENEMIES”
And BGH just MIGHT be getting a nerf
Man you didn’t get my idea… deal dmg. To let’s say 5 minions… (against zoo) or sylvanas, so u probably deal dmg and give a huge minion to ur opponent…
My point is that you need an empty board and many whispers to get it work like OTK… Murlockadin is better as you split your 40 dmg and clear the board less randomly
Playing around sylvanis isn’t difficult, obviously if sylvanis is on board you wait a turn. If there are 5 minions then this would be an ideal card to help board clear. I doubt blizzard meant this to be an end all, be all game finisher.
I agree that this will be a prime target for BGH, but the card isn’t bad. So far, all the cards that buff it do not lose any stats. Also, to get back its cost, you only have to buff it +2/+2, if you consider avenging wrath doing 8 damage for 3 mana. And, you don’t need to build a deck off of this card, maybe just use 2 beckoners of evil and build a control deck.
Can’t wait to see someone play this after all the buffs and 1 hit ko someone ๐
