    Wow just wow.
How does this have such a high rating?
How often as Mage do you have 3 mana left at the end of your turn and also have 3 mana to spare?
Freeze mage doesn’t want this, they don’t care about board and don’t have enough mana early to use this, plus can’t waste valuable freeze effects to draw.
    2/10

Unlikely to get a spot in freeze mage since the slots that are flex do drawing better than this, you donĀ“t need the 3-4 body for anything.

5/10 Just because it’s good stats and situationally decent, okay for arena because of the statline.

But it is pretty decent in tempo mage potentially don’t you think? Perhaps with some more cards yet to be revealed.

Freeze mage never dies lol. Everyone including Blizzard talk about how much they hate freeze effects and the cheesiness of freeze mage and then they make cards like this.

Agreed, the deck already Gets b.s. free wins against a lot of archetypes. Didn’t need this extremely powerful buff.

Honestly I see this card as being good but definitely not in freeze mage. As a deck freeze mage only needs to cycle to their powerful burn cards. Cheap draw like novice engineer is more desirable due to its lower cost and unconditional draw. This new card requires that you blow one of your precious freeze cards to draw. The minion body is redundant as you already have enough board control cards and you dont need the chip damage as you win through burn/alextraza and unless it’s left alive for way to long it’s damage will not mean much. Additionally freeze turns are usually tight for mana making this card difficult to play or meaningless if you doomsayer. If you want draw run novice and archanologist. Where I see this card being played is in a tempo mage. With the 5 mana minion that buffs if enemies are frozen and the 4 mana minion that freezes enemies the deck type is getting support and might be finally viable.

True. The new kind of tempo frozen mage is born.

As a person who plays freeze mage alot there is no way you play this card in freeze mage.It forces you to use freeze which is a very important resource and you need to use them very efficiently.I think novice engineer might be better in almost every case in freeze mage.

You can play this in the late game when you’re “frost nova”-ing the opponent’s board. at a 3 mana for a 3/4 draw a card, draw a card is valued at around 1.5-2 mana. So this card without the effect is a 1-1.5 for a 3/4, when a 3/4 is around a 3 mana cost. Paying 33% to 50% for full stats and then paying 2 for a draw is good. Novice Engineer without the draw is a 0 mana 1/1, which is normal value for a 1/1.
This card is better than Novice.

The problem is that, when you’re using your frost novas, your mana is extremely tight–at least in the current freeze mage lists. You’re rarely going to be floating 3 mana simply to draw a card. The 3/4 is completely meaningless in freeze mage, so a cheaper unconditional cycle will always be better.

We would have to see a relatively new mage archetype, like secret mage, that actually bothers to use freezes, because right now this card doesn’t fit into Gunther, burn or secret mage lists. This could certainly happen with the new cards yet to be revealed.

This card likely doesn’t replace novice but replaces acolyte. often times in freeze mage your freeze turns are a do nothing turn waiting to set up for a alex kill. say you have stalled to turn 9 and have blizzard this its much better because after you alex on ten it only takes 12 damage to kill your opponent where as acolyte stat line would help. The argument can be made that acolyte draws two cards but playing this on curve to combat aggro decks is relevant. killing the Pirate lord so you dont just die on turn 5 is good. It will probably replace acolyte and see play in a tempo freeze deck that wants to freeze potion a minion then trade up with attack and ping into a 5/4. like i said before a 3/4 for 3 its good on curve and has multiple uses.

It’s actualy a more suited card for a tempo mage that uses freeze effects to gain tempo on the board.

I think you’ve hit the nail here. It’s not for freeze mage, it’s to enable the tempo freeze mage they’ve been pushing for a couple of expansions.

Using that 0 mana freeze, the freezer fire Walker and the dude that gains stats if a minion is frozen.
