In most cases, opponent decides when this triggers. If you want to trigger it, it might actually be very hard to do so (high health). Aaaand you need another dragon in hand.
Better use that 3 Mana spell that deals 2 to all enemy minions if you hold a dragon.

Deathrattle makes it annoying because you can’t decide when to trigger it, duskbreaker was much much better, not terrible though just much lower power compared to already existing cards that were incredible so it’s 4/5
As far as the Duskbreaker comparisons go: This is much, much weaker than Duskbreaker. It costs more mana and its effect is a Deathrattle instead of a Battlecry, which makes it even slower to activate and your opponent gets to control when to activate it if they want. Heck, even on turn 6, which is 2 turns after Duskbreaker, you might not be able to activate it even if you desperately want to, if your opponent doesn’t have a 5-attack minion to run Chronobreaker into. So… not Duskbreaker, not even close. And thank goodness for that, that card was busted.
That said, there’s a lot of room to be worse than Duskbreaker and still be good. Chronobreaker’s stats are a little weak for its cost, but they’re not too awful either. Its dragon tag counts for a lot, as you can discount it with Frizz, and it helps you activate other Dragon minion battlecries. Your opponent obviously gets to choose whether to trade into it to minimize its deathrattle effect, but that is not synonymous with the Deathrattle being useless; if it forces your opponent to make awkward trades they otherwise wouldn’t have made, that’s still valuable. This is not the type of card you build a Dragon deck around, but rather a role player in a Dragon deck. It’s fairly competent at that, too.

I don’t like this card at all. I mean, the effect is good, while not being strong enough to really be the reason why you run a dragon package in priest. It’s no duskbreaker, taht’s for sure. It comes two turns later (remember that it is impossible to trigger the deathrarttle turn 5) and it’s just so slow that the aggro decks will run you over long before this makes any kind of sense. This is not what priest needs to run a dragon package, but, since it seems like every freaking card in this whole expansion is just the most broken shit i have ever seen, it will probably see play in a Dragon priest at some point. Let’s all remember that even if this is no duskbreaker, duskbreaker was proabbly one of the most broken cards ever printed, so you wouldn’t mind putting this in a deck.

You should not compare to duskbreaker but fatespinner.
Fatespinner was a bad card which has imo a slightly better eff by slithly worse stats but does not need a dragon. I don’t know what you expect of this card. In best case the opp. has much minions. Then the opp use them to trade and the deathrattle doesn’t really matter.
I guess this card will not be played at all 1/5 but we’ll see
Okay, Cool. Duskbreaker is back but less OP. If I remember correctly; Duskbreaker was a 4 mana 3/3 that dealt 3 damage to every other minion as long as you had a dragon in your hand. And this is more or less likely the same thing, except that it’s 1 more mana, for +1/+2 in stats, and to even deal almost a flame strike to your opponent, but it has to be a Deathrattle, which is why players are stinging Chronobreaker quite a bit. Regardless, I still think that it’s a very power minion to have, and if they were to make it a Battlecry, Hearthstone would have to deal with the difference between Chronobreaker and Warlock’s Crazed Netherwing. And as soon as there is a way to trigger the death rattle, much like how Un’Goro Hunger was, you can guarantee that pretty much every single Deathrattle Priest would play this card.
Oh, and uhh.. 5 Stars still in my opinion.
So, Chillmaw returns… without taunt… and a bit smarter… and cheaper… and… Priest…

Unless Priest receives methods of procting deathrattle multiple times w/o it dying, I just don’t think this is a good tempo play across the board. We will see it against priests who attempt a Galakrond build but its just too slow to stop anything. We could talk if it had taunt, but we are not as lucky.

Thoughts on the inevitable Chronobreaker/Duskbreaker comparison:
Pros:
– It only hits enemies
-It has +1/+2 stats from what Duskbreaker had
Cons:
-It’s a deathrattle, not a battlecry
-It costs one more mana
To my eyes, this is a midrange card while duskbreaker leaned towards control. The advantage of this is that it’s not as dead a card against a control matchup: with the bigger stats it’s much more of a threat, and its boardwipe wont sabotage your own board like duskbreaker would, so it won’t sit dead in your hand nearly as much. There’s the added synergy of Wretched Reclaimer (which you’d run in a Midrange priest as its a decent body that can heal your minions at worst and synergize with this and other deathrattles in better scenarios) and Shadowy Figure, which once again you can use with this with zero worries of your own board being destroyed.
So yes, it’s weaker than duskbreaker because of the deathrattle and mana-cost (though being weaker than duskbreaker isn’t horrible because duskbreaker was ridiculously strong), but it also lends itself to a different shell, so THAT’S where the real question of its playability comes in: can a Midrange Dragon priest exist? Playing a dragon/minion package along with invoke cards allows the deck to instantly switch to infinite value against control because of the Priest Galakrond’s hero power. I’m cautiously optimistic.
Definitely a nice assist to the control priest package (which they seem to be pushing quite hard) but worse than Dustbreaker. I mean think about it, Dustbreaker was good because it was a cheap board clear that could be plonked down when you needed it against Aggro most i.e: turn 4/ 3 when aggro is strongest. This on the other hand most likely won’t activate until turn 6/7 and maybe turn 5 if your opponent has just passed out and forgotten how to play the game. Still a fine card for slower more control priest builds and there are some deathrattle synergies that help it (especially considering the fact that its comparable to/probably better than Chillmaw who, did see a little bit of play here and there), but definitely not as good as Dustbreaker .
So basically a delayed duskbreaker that cost 1 more with 1/2 more stats and only effects the opponents minions. That’s not that bad actually.
And there would be a few ways to make it more annoying like if spent bit more Mana and gave it reborn. Or used another card to manually trigger it. Overall it’s a good card and can force your opponent to reconsider their strategy some depending on deck build.
It definitely seems to fit into that style of play more than its cousin Dustbreaker i don’t think it’s the kind of minion you want to be reborning though
Why not? It only nukes your opponents minions and that ability triggers as long as there’s a dragon in your hand. The stats on it are decent enough so having that 3/1 bring this back or using the spell or such is rather good.
Exactly one is usually enough to nuke and if it isn’t you wanna be playing a Mass Hysteria instead. You want to use reborn to fight for tempo or develop your own board not unnecessarily hit you opponents board twice with a board clear that can be slow when reborn (as it won’t be able to attack when its revived).
The point of giving it reborn though is fact it keeps leaving something on board that can nuke opponents board which can interfere with opponents strategy. So it’s more an investment for board control. Which would be a good thing if not doing a big priest.
The problem with it being on the field afterwards is that unlike Similar cards, (I.e: Doomsayer and the new Depth Charge) is that it only has 1 hp. It doesn’t require a lot of resources (especially in late game) for you opponent to clear it off with something like a cheap rush or a big boi that won’t be killed by it. There are also cheap spells, hero powers and sticky bois of there own that can clear it off. It may work some of the time but ultimately something that consistently benefits from reborn like Whelp, Blademaster, Lightwarden, Cleric etc is worth the mana and spell.
This is pretty hard to evaluate, onesided board clears are always strong but having it as a conditional deathrattle makes it slow and also makes it a bad topdeck card. I don’t see Priest wanting to run all that many dragons so this probably won’t see that much play. The Warlock version is way better even though it hits own board as well.
That’s one hell of a sick card art.
Not much to say about it: bigger and better duskbreaker, arguably even better than netherwing for warlock.
Damn, pardon me.. I read to fast and thought it was a battlecry.. Being a deathrattle makes it much slower.
Yeah it being a deathrattle really cripples this card, Duskbreaker is better in every way. I also don’t see how Priest would want to run that many dragons so eh, probably won’t see much play.
Unfortunately I agree with you. There are some options with wretched reclaimer, but those are quite inconsistent and rather slow.
Nevertheless, I will try to make it work somehow for the art alone.
You have the possibility of using the reborn cards with it either spell to give reborn or the 3/1 that might bring this back with reborn.
I like it, but it’s not meta breaker due to the lot of big minions we get in this expansion. 4 stars.
