This card is so much better then people give it credit for. playing this with any type of hand buff turned this into a great finisher or even a way to turn around the game by getting rid of an enemy minion while healing your self. Also you can play this then buff it with +2/+6 and taunt to get more out of it. Everyone always keeps looking at cards as a stand alone when its how it works with the entire deck is how good a card is.
Everyone saying this is worse than truesilver is missing the point. Since pirate warrior is so teched against and most decks run weapon removal of some sort this is probably better. It nets you one more health without having to sacrifice health in the process. Can be buffed meaning that galvadon could be relevant. We dont know what else the new set has in store and everyone rating all the cards trash truly have no idea what they are talking about. The amount of times i have played truesilver for a 1/2 to come in and destroy it or my ashbringer getting acidic slimed leads me to believe this is good. Plus it requires creatue removal which means other threats can stick.

Bad card, wont see any play understatted and paladin already heals more than any other class if they feel they need it.

I absolutely dislike the fact that it’s 4 mana, a it will be in direct competition with Truesilver, one of the best paladin cards out there. Instant damage potential with self-heal, though ofc truesilver sacrifices face health. Overall I’d still rather include Truesilver just for the +1 damage, even though this could work in a handbuff deck I guess.
Definitely an interesting card, the 3-2 stats for 4 mana are weak, comparing this card to other strong 4 drops (Like In warrior) such as Korkron Elite (4-3w charge), Kor Elite trades much better being a 4-3 charge
You’re pretty much giving up that extra 1 dmg for +3 heal (Maybe +6)
It’s similar to Bash which costs 1 less, where you deal 3 dmg gain 3 armor
-Costs 1 more mana then Bash
-Worse cause it’s a charge and not a spell
-Better because it can possibly heal for more + can be buffed
Now I know this can be buffed by the failed Grim squad Goon deck that Paladin got put into, but that deck was never really viable, so it should be interesting to see if this helps it become an actual competitive deck with some help from other new cards we’ll see later.
But so far I’d run true-silver over this any day, and I don’t think it’s that good or that it’d help Goon Paladin become Viable (Yet)
You do raise a valid point with both korkron and bash there – one thing that made those cards way better than this imho is that they’re much more suited to the deck archetypes warrior has. Bash, due to being cost effective, and giving armour as opposed to health, is rarely a bad draw in control, and korkron is just a fantastic card on its own in agressive decks.
Compared to those, this card doesn’t seem to be so well-suited to any deck types – aggro has way better turn 4 cards, and control decks don’t really need the +3 health on turn 4 – I’d imagine that truesilver’s +1 damage and the fact that weapons are harder to remove would make it a better card for those decks.
There’s also the question of how lifesteal gets much more valuable with buffs increasing card attack, similarly to charge. So, with some buffs, this card would be alright, I just don’t think any card that depends on buffs from other cards so heavily would have a slot in any deck.
Seconded. Truesilver is just overall a better card in all but some special situations, so unless we get some other cards in this expansion, making this better somehow, I think this card will not be really played.
I agree this card has no place in aggro Paladin (murloc) decks and in Control Paladin decks
And Goon Paladin….
Yeah, the reason Grim-Goons Paladin failed so hard (Compared to Jade and Kaz) is because of the RANDOM buff effects, Yes I know Paladin got some cards that buffed everything in your hand by 1, but you were paying for that +1 buff by playing cards with pretty crap stats for their cost
Playing cards that rely on buffs from other cards have to have really strong effects to be good, giving a card a +1/+2 for what it costs you (Costing u like 2-4 mana) isn’t good
Truesilver does what this does way better with no buffs or extra cards
If Blizz wanted to make Goon Paladin (Hunter&Warrior) viable decks/work, they should have just let YOU pick what you wanted buffed in your hand… Would that have really been so OP compared to Jade and Kaz?

(costs4) KAZ- Gain a really powerful insanely valuable spell, you can make for the situation/match-up you’re in (Only cost is you gotta run Reno)
(Costs7) GOON- Give the doomsayer in your hand +5 +5…
Yeah, I guess handbuff won’t become magically playable just because of this, it would need stronger synergies to enable that archetype to really work.
I guess this could also synergizes with the Quest, due to being Charge/Lifesteal (both benefit quite much from buffs), but once again, not a top archetype. I also fear 4 mana just for a buff vessel might be too much to make it viable – this plus kings is a whopping 8 mana, though I guess a 7/6 Charge Lifestealer isn’t that bad either.
Hi, I’m an aggro pally deck that revolves around hand-buff cards like Grimestreet outfitter and smuggler’s run, and I’d like to replace the truesilver champion with a minion that synergizes with handbuffs. Anybody know where I could find a good four drop that has charge, is a minion, and maybe does something else cool like keep my hero alive?

Blizzard seems to be valuing Lifesteal at anywhere from .3 Mana to 1 Mana. I’d hazard to guess it’s worth closer to 1. As such, the statline is justifiable when compared to other cards like Wolfrider or Korkron Elite.
Now, I personally don’t know just how good this would be in Control Paladin, but this is basically an Aggro player’s wet dream. Dealing damage to your opponent while keeping yourself alive is basically the goal of Aggro, and this accomplishes that brilliantly, especially when it gets buffed. Whether or not it gets played alongside Truesilver Champion remains to be seen.

This card to me is similar to Bash.
Both deal 3 damage and heal 3 health.
This one costs 1 more mana, but might leave a minion in play and can be affected by Paladin’s many buff spells.
In the aggro meta we always seem to have, this might be good
paladin 4 mana slot used to be a very crowded spot, now it’s less so.
Argent commander was played for a very long time, and it costs 2 more for a single point of attack and no lifesteal, the charge, divine shield combo is powerful and when competing against other aggressive decks, this looks far better than any other alternatives, as it can easily trade for two and net you 6 health in the meantime.(which worth little more than 1 mana)
Maybe not an essential card for all paladins, but any aggressive deck should love it.

I am uncertain how useful this Lifesteal effect will be. I personally find rush decks to be much less common then they were in the earlier days of Hearthstone and this expansion along with others seems to be discouraging them even more. Other than a handful of unique scenarios most of the time your hero doesn’t take so much damage that the healing from these sources aren’t wasted. Unless there is going to only be one or two lifesteal cards per class I don’t see how most Lifesteal cards can be played in most decks without being inefficient.
This kind of healing effect is strongly used in other card games, because you can recover even all your health if both your minion survive some turns and it is enough buffed.
Not sure how well it could work in HS, but I like this new mechanic.

This card alone seems not mana efficient
4 mana for 3 instant damage may be good as removal with healing and possibly body on the board. Seems efficient for me
It doesn’t seem impressive first, because it maybe can be compared to a Tidal Surge, which also doesn’t find much play.
But at 4 mana with Charge you can combine any Paladin Buff Card. Spikeridged Steed or Blessing of Kings.
Actually it is the same as Wickerflame, as soon as you buff those guys and don’t get hexed they are hardcore.
Will Wickerflames text be changed maybe? I don’t see a difference between Lifesteal and Wickerflame
It’s very likely for all cards that have this effect to get changed to read “Lifesteal”, since they did it with “Poisonous”.
This is actually a bit better than Tidal Surge. Yes, if you run it into a minion it will heal for 3 and deal 3 damage, but unlike Surge this damage is repetitive. When not facing removal, going face and then having the enemy minion trade into it will heal for 6 and putting this behind a taunt is a repetitive source of healing.
