Why is this 100 auto dust an epic?
You can play it on turn 3, chances are your opponent was going to use their hero power and have 1 unspent mana anyway, so what’s the point of this guy?
He is just another overpriced (rarity) waste of space 3 mana 3/4 body that no one will ever use like Blackwald Pixie. I’m sure there’s another card that falls into this category but I can’t remember it.
Saboteur was a 3-mana 4-/3 that had the exact same effect but made the hero power cost 5 more instead of 3, and was a Rare card instead of an Epic. Wasted opportunity for a good Epic card, and I’d rather use Saboteur from the Grand Tournament any day than this card.
Yeah, but keep in mind that Saboteur made the opponent’s hero power cost more NEXT TURN. This guy makes the opponent’s hero power cost more THE NEXT TIME IT’S USED.
So Saboteur’s effect could just be ignored by not using your hero power the next turn, while Blowtorch’s effect CAN’T be ignored, unless your opponent plans on never using his hero power for the rest of the game. I doubt you’d want to use Saboteur instead of Blowtorch.
But, yeah. This card won’t fit into any real archetype and straight up won’t see any play asides from arena.
Yes you would use Saboteur instead of Blowtorch. It really doesn’t matter if it’s next time used, because Saboteur has a more powerful effect which is essentially a Loatheb for hero powers
Why the hell is this epic??
The recent past expansions have terrible Epics, although I’m not sure why. So much wasted potential.
Epic is just the garbage bin for blizzard, is their money maker machine… no other explanation for the myriad of trashy epics in recent expansiones
Exactly
Again though in an overpowered explanison, your bound to have a few bad cards
3 mana 3/4 raza counter!
Oh wait…. raza is dead. Well.
Very nice card against quest Shaman, other than that… eh not much of a use. But it is a 3 mana 3/4 with an upside so it’s not a bad card by any means. 3 stars.
Welp, I read “3 more” so it’s kinda bad after all lol.
Way to situational and only increases cost of hero power for next turn. Would be better if it increased the cost for several turns or at least until it is removed.
In control you would rather play removal, midrange decks care more about bigger treats and more aggresive/zoo/tempo decks would prefer Hystory Buff with same stats, but more tempo oriented effect.
there is not words ‘next TURN’ …. next hero power can be played after 5-6 turns and however it will cost 3
It’s still just one turn thing, where your opponent decides when to float that 1 mana.
“only increases cost of hero power for next turn”….didnt you write it ?
I did and I stand by it. Only cases where it might theoretically be somewhat useful is when your opponent wants to use hero power a lot. Hence, in those cases it will mostly effect next turn only.
You made a mistake, man up and own it and people might respect you. Otherwise you look like, well, you and nobody wants that.
You need to learn how to read and stop attacking people online. I never said I didn’t make a mistake. I did correct myself with an argument and still stand by my comment. Besides, the debate was between me and BastionKid so don’t preach about how anybody looks like on the internet. Bye.
This isnt an attack, it is a genuine advice to improve yourself. Though i suppose you could alway keep being delusional to save your fragile ego, no skin off my back.
Troll Alert…
the old Saboteur was far better than this card by a mile and it was only a rare.
To be fair, the old one was for the next turn only. But yeah, this still sucks.
Well in some ways this is better though a the other opponent could just play a card from hand this stays active until they finally decide to use HP and having to pay one more Mana to pop HP and reset it is not a move you wanna have to make in early game. So if you were a tempo / aggro deck you can make them basically waste a turn fixing the HP. Using this against a quest shammy would be similar to making them summon a brann before they can use double battlecry.
As a 3 cost 3/4 it at least has average stats. But I think the best use comes from facing certain quest reward powers or like the galakrond hp by making it awkward to spend Mana on it.
I mean, It’s kinda nice I guess. I feel like already maybe of people are comparing this with the normal classes of Hearthstone and thinking about how beneficial can it be. Sure you may hit down a few good ones here and there such as Mage & Warlock for example, but I also just as much see someone like Rogue or Druid now caring as much.
Okay, fine, let’s try this up against the Galakronds (Mind I’m trying the best I can to make them all Control to give it fair play):
Shaman is ??? because we don’t know Shaman yet.
Priest more or less likely won’t matter unless he didn’t have an answer, in which he’d worry about the hero power more.
Rouge does matter quite a bit because they believe that their mana is more valuable, especially when they want to pull off combos. But Usually do combos come in Cheap mana, so its defeat its purpose. The only way I can see this being effective against wrong is probably when they need want to make a VanCleef Body.
Warlock could almost care less about it since he usually wouldn’t care about it that much unless he’s on about that zoo or demon synergy.
And the only one that could care about this is Warrior. Having to pay 3 Mana for almost a heroic strike is somewhat noticeable.
But maybe I’m still not seeing the big picture of how Strong Blowtorch is. For me, I have to give it 2 Stars. I just don’t see how beneficial it can be. Maybe if it was costing 2 more, then of course. But 1 more is almost as if most of the Hearthstone classes, (Including the Heroic Cards) can just shrug it off in my opinion.
You’re right. It IS bad. Had it come in another meta, I wouldn’t be so quick to say so, but come on. In a world where Hero Power is often your last option and not your first, especially with as little as a (1) mana penalty, the effect really doesn’t do much. Run a simple comparison with the absurd power of some cards of this set to understand that the power of this card is way too low compared to the rest of the expansion. It won’t make the cut.
Meh
This is terrible. In a regular meta, this would just be a bad card. In an expansion with a power level as high as Descent of Dragons, I really don’t who would want to run this card over many, many other much better options. 2/5 because it’s playable but its Battlecry has so little impact over the game that it’s virtually nonexistent.
