Baleful Banker Card Review
It’s a Neutral version of the Manic Soulcaster from Gadgetzan. While 3/4 for 3 is better than 2/2 for 2, the fact that it’s Neutral and it’s cheaper might work for it. To be fair, Manic Soulcaster has seen some play in Reno Mage, to copy Reno Jackson, Kazakus and such. Other decks might also find it useful either as a way to get more value in a long, grindy game or possibly even activate some combos.
Just as an example, if you run Holy Wrath Paladin with Molten Giants (now in Wild), if you draw a Giant, but have no cards in your deck, plus you’re low on health (13 or less), you can play Giant, play this and Holy Wrath. Of course, that’s not a reliable deck anyway, but it might make it slightly better.
It also combos nicely with all kinds of Recruit mechanics. You can play (or Recruit) a big minion, get another copy of it in your deck and Recruit it again.
The card doesn’t strike as a very powerful one, but it has some potential.
Card rating: 6/10
Zola’s just better.
Zola just another.
Idk why but why use this when you can add the copy to your hand directly with zola the gorgon
Zola is a legendary which means you can only run one copy of her. What happens if you never draw her? Running this beside zola gives you the ability to run a deck with a single key card you can’t afford enemy to remove permanently. Also if you don’t already have Zola you probably are going to use your dust for something better anyway so this is a cheaper alternative.
How is this so highly rated. Getting gnomeferatu flashbacks lol
Double Rag for the win!
People are comparing this too much to the mage 3-drop that can do the same but main issue with mage isnt that there weren’t any legendaries outside kazakus and reno that were worth shuffling. Also it helped in fatigue matchups.
Btw guys, this is slightly better than the 3/2 panda that returns allied minion to hand because this lets you use your mana efficiently.
Now question is: What would you like to shuffle from other classes?
ALL: Helps with fatigue, flexible turn 2-play
Paladin: Lynessa, Tarim, Tyrion, Quest reward?
Druid: I dont see reason to run this, makes oaken summons unplayable. Helps with fatigue though.
Shaman: obviously Shudderwock and Grumble, possibly stonehill for extra lategame.
Warrior: Dead mans hand is better.
Rogue: Shiny Finder, Edwin, more spiders
Warlock: Extra doomguard/void lord/Goffrey, Kobolt Librarian, even rin, fatigue
Hunter: Some big/zom beasts, Quest reward?
Priest: Quest Reward, Lyra, any combo minion.
It’s nice to see this sort of effect made neutral and cheaper than it was in Mage. Granted, that card only saw play in the Reno Mage, but Rogue could probably do some interesting things with this effect. Thankfully, one of those things can’t be shuffle another Keleseth
Combo decks will probably like this enough for it to see play here and there.
If you like fun/value decks, specially Reno in Wild, and don’t care about being the most competitive/tryhard player then this is almost a must have in those decks, specially in Warlock that unlike Mage and Priest and thanks to his heropower he/she can afford running this kind of cards. I’m running some kind of Memelock for the fun and of course I’ll run Zola along with Baleful.
I notice people try to rate cards thinking more about the competitive aspect anyway.
Tunneler Weasel 2.0. In Terms that people would automatically see this as a Complete Troll Card, It would Properly be hyped up, then it’s going to be a 2-Star Card for a bit in terms of Pro Play, Followed by being pretty stuck at being a 3-Star Card for a While.
pretty meh
If you wanted an extra N’zoth or Reno you could have played a panda and get a 2 mana 3-2 on the board with the card you wanted in your hand. Very few people did that, even in Reno decks where having the odd gimmicky card was fine because you had so many open card slots. Mage has a card like this with good stats and doesn’t see play. I could possibly see it in something like cubelock where you have a demon summoning weapon and other recruit mechanics, but they already have a deck full of amazing cards they are trying to squeeze in. I’m not sure this will make the grade.
Totally overrated. Mage got the same effect with better Body (and so more flexibility to drop it as 3 drop against aggro) but this is just terrible. if u really want something for the late game just put 1 alexstraza lichking or ysera in the deck
Great card
OP af
“It only cost my soul…”
Never got played but this is a 2mana neutral, sooo… yep one of the best t2 in the expansion
So Mage had an Epic with an identical battlecry. It was barely used, so Blizzard has decided to print a neutral equivalent. So, this can enable so many combos with its low mana cost. It’s NOT a 2-drop, you want it in the late game in Control-like Matchups. In Wild, as others point out, getting an extra Reno or N’Zoth can straight up win you the Control Matchup. Giving it 4/5 stars.
Autoinclude in tiger decks. Honestly reasonable In almost every none aggro deck. You could use it in cubelock to add more doomguards to your deck.
yeah this card totally screams Astral tiger. It’s not a regular card as getting a second copy into your deck of something you already played is not exactly a splashable effect but in a deck that’s aiming at the super long run it’s absolutely amazing.
Astral tiger, dead man’s hand warrior, all you need is something you’d really want in your deck
Also, as seen in the stream amazing with shudderwock. I could see it in a Tess meme rogue deck to Tess more. You could just throw it into some decks to potentially draw into a copy of a legendary. I’m very excited about this card.
Good for quest rogue a weaker version of gangup
More doomguards and voidlords for locks..
Seems broken. Especially in rogue and maybe mage and warlock which all can cycle fast
Hmmmmm , let’s add this to Spiteful priest and watch the magic happen … maybe
Thank god Nzoth will be gone
This in Wild will rekt havoc, you can discount both with Thaurissan to play both on turn 10
Oh dear this is too good
In wild, this card + n’ztoh or reno is very powerfull in 1 turn
It looks like this expansion brings lot of combo potentionals, I LOVE IT!
Interesting card. I like it. It reminds me of the priest spell Entomb.
Its actully a weak copy of gangup
