Arcanosaur Card Review
A balanced version of Duskbreaker. Because realistically that’s how much it should have costed in the first place (the current version is absolutely nuts if you have any doubts). And while I have to say that a 6 mana version of Duskbreaker would still be pretty playable, I have my doubts about this card.
The thing is, Dragon synergies work much better for this kind of effect than Elemental synergies. When you play Duskbreaker, you don’t need any set-up – you just need to have a Dragon in your hand right now. Your opponent floods the board, you drop it, you clear it. But in this case, you can’t do just that. There are turns during which you have not played an Elemental last turn – and if that turns happens when your opponent has flooded the board, this card is useless. You need to play something else, wait one more turn and then drop this, at which point it might be too late. And if that “something else” you’ve played is still on the board (which can be the case), you damage it too.
I mean, if you play a dedicated Elemental Mage deck, then it’s not a problem most of the time – you play Elemental nearly every time. But you can’t just put an “Elemental package” like you can with Duskbreaker & Dragons and still make it work. For example, it could be decent in Big Spell Mage, especially since it would heal for all the damage dealt after Frost Lich Jaina, but the deck doesn’t play the necessary density of Elementals to make that work.
So in the end, I think that this card might see play in all-in Elemental decks, where you drop one nearly every turn. Especially the builds which run Book of Specters and don’t really have access to AoEs – that’s a nice boost for those builds. One downside is that those builds are pretty proactive, so they will usually blow a part of their board too, but that’s the price you have to pay for surviving sometimes. In other decks? I don’t think it will make a cut. Not only because it’s much slower than Duskbreaker is, but also because Elemental synergies don’t work with that kind of effect unless you’re triggering them nearly every turn anyway.
Card rating: 7/10 in Elemental Mage, useless in other decks
So it is Duskbreaker, but costs 2 mana more and needs one turn to set up. Doesn’t seem like a good card by looking at the stats and effect. But could be useful in Elemental Mage for a board clear and health restore.

There’s a very good reason not to put this in a generic Control Mage deck- you can’t guarantee the battlecry will be active when you need it.
This is for Elemental Mage only, which has like 20 elementals in the deck and badly needs the removal because it doesn’t play any removal spells.
I was talking more like the current Big Mage control meta, which happens to run quite a few elementals.
You don’t do much with the 3/3 body at 6 mana stage of the game.
This is just garbage with pretty weak effect.

2.7/5? ROFL. A whole lot of reviewers don’t seem to be aware of the Elemental / Big Hand Mage deck archetype. This card might be just what the archetype needs to become competitive. 5/5 in that archetype, useless otherwise.
I’m not quite sure if this is good enough to make the cut or justify not running baku in elemental mage, however I think this would be a pretty great pick up from Servant of Kalimos on turn 5 as it doesn’t outright kill the servant, the servant activates it, and it can help you stabilize the board against aggro.
People definitely underrating this card. Abyssal enforcer for warlock was a 7 mana deal 3 to all and saw some play and this is cheaper. Clearly worse than dusk breaker but dusk breaker is easily one of the most overpowered cards ever made for hearthstone. Probably a 3.5 star card. Hand mage will love this card and as people have mentioned its synergy with Jaina is insane.
Even without the elemental clause, having -3/-3 for 1 less manacost compared to abyssal enforcer is fucking horrible. Having a stupid activation condition is just adding insult to injury
See here’s the thing about Abyssal Enforcer: it was a 7 mana minion with a 6/6 body which helped it deal more damage in the late game. The fact that it was a dread infernal with a hell fire attached for one mana more made that card so OP it had to be taken out of the arena pool at that time. Now come compare that to this and it’s obviously lacking. It’s one of those cards that needs alot of support but if supported its bonkers. Might be justified in a elemental hand mage tho.

Hell no! I guess you are referencing Duskbreaker but Duskbreaker is an INSANELY strong card. As someone in this thread already mentioned, Abyssal Enforcer cost 7 mana and was played. You also gain value with Jaina. This is a more balanced version of Duskbreaker in another class and looks fine as it is. It is certainly not as strong, but that is totally fine.
Yes, and while we’re at it there should be cards that literally say you win the game (sarcasm). Why not? Cause they’d be too overpowered. Elementals are much more viable in standard right now than Dragons as there are many more low and mid cost Elementals, hence why this card is not four mana. Honestly, you see a nice mechanic and complain because you want something you can abuse for a while to win lots of matches before Blizzard catches on and nerfs it. Well jokes on you buddy, Blizzard already took your mindset into account.
I mean it’s good in elemental mage, and it’s a reason not to play odd mage. Seems good sure

This card is cool as fuck until u look at the stats. Absolute trash wtf, it’s as if this card was made just to piss off evolve shaman
Don’t think this one’ll come together. If you’re playing a bunch of elementals, you want to fight for the board, not kill your own minions. If you’re playing a control deck, you don’t want to stuff in some cannon fodder elementals just to activate this.
Perhaps most importantly, Baron Geddon is one mana more, comes with a much better body, no conditional, and activates each turn.
So priests get a conditional 4 mana 3/3 Hellfire and Mages get a 6 mana 3/3 worse conditional Hellfire? Jaina should be pissed.
I think the comparison to dusk breaker is unfair. Mage has access to much better low cost removal and is in a much better spot in standard and would than priest currently is and was at the release of duskbreaker. Also elementals at the moment are a much stronger card type than dragons. Also the fact that it can proc off of jaina should be taken into account. I’d say a fairer comparison would be its a weaker baron geddon.
Mage and Priest are right now in the same spot in Standard: quite low. Elementals have always had a worse condition than Dragons: you are forced to play an Elemental the turn before if you want to have the effect the turn afterwards, whereas you have more liberty of not playing stuff with Dragons. This Arcanosaur looks like a bad card, considering Mage already sports quite a lot of AOE removal anyway.
This card has so much lifesteal if you have Jaina DK. That being said all those cards rotate in 4.5 months. But there will always be room for a solid board clear (esp. 3 dmg) that leaves a body on the board.
Elemental is interesting. We are losing a lot of them with Ungoro so hopefully we gain so quality elementals in the future.

I like how Arcanosaur shows Team 5 has learned their lesson from Duskbreaker and made the body the card comes with cost more than nothing. While I am unsure if activating Elemental effects are necessarily easier or more difficult than dragons (one allows you to play cards in your hand as one would naturally but with a little extra thought put into it while the other can be activated all by one card you hold but can lead into some really rather inefficient turns if the cards are working with you), it should be comparable enough.
In a full Elemental Mage or most Mage decks that wants to play Frost Lich, this can easily be seen as Barron Geddon copies two and three and perhaps a replacement for it too. Just that fact alone is a good enough reason to bump it up a couple mana from Duskbreaker. It won’t be as effective as Duckbreaker at shutting down aggressive decks that go rather wide, but elemental decks can and already do play quite a few defensive cards like Tar Creeper and sometimes Tol’vir Stoneshaper. Plus, mage has a few other options for early game removal as is, more than Priest at least.
With Book of Specters, Bonefire Elemental, and Servant of Kalimos, it won’t be too inconsistent to see at least one copy of the card by turn six.
If Elemental Mage becomes rather viable in the coming format, there really isn’t any reason why this wouldn’t see play in it.
Seems easily curvable with bonfire T5 or some plays with firefly, or even tar creeper and HP. I kinda feel like the condition if more easily fulfilled than duskbreaker.
It is a good way to delay a blizzard, or a kind of flamestrike in advance. And after Jaina a good way to heal.
Balanced indeed, probably on t5 it would be too good and would fit in odd mage which seems to be pushed with this extension. And t4 would be too good, or not given the more turn you have to wait the easier it becomes to trigger the battlecry

It’s way better than duskbreaker for mage. With Jaina out this is effectively a reno Jackson for elemental mage. But you get two of them. It’s also another 6 mana board clear, and you can tempo out your activator before hand, not to mention its the only worthwhile 6 drop for elemental mage to curve into blazecaller.
Frost Lich Jaina is gone in 5 months or so, then this will continue to suck
You discribe a win more situation. If you have jaina then you are already in a good spot. 6 mana 3 aoe damage sucks. Too slow. It won’t ever make a deck higher than low tier 3. Nowadays for 7 mana you have Godfrey, psychic scream. Hellfire is 3 damage for 4 mana. Duskbreaker Is better too. Why would you play control mage instead of warlock or priest? They have better board control cards And a way stronger win condition, doom guard, guldan, anduin and stuff.
