Arcane Dynamo Card Review

Important thing to keep in mind that Discover can only give you cards from your class, as well as neutrals. And since there are no neutral spells, it will always show 3 spells from your own class. And given that most of the classes don’t have many 5+ mana spells, this card will be very consistent. Just for example, Rogue has only three 5+ mana spells right now, so it would always offer those three (Lesser Onyx SpellstoneVanish and Sprint). It will get two more in the upcoming expansion – Myra's Unstable Element and Necrium Vial – but it will still be 60% chance to get exactly the one you want, or 80% chance if you’re looking for one of the two cards.

The problem here is mana cost and the body. It would be an amazing card at 4 mana. At 5 mana, it would be average. At 6 mana, it’s just bad. Despite giving you a card advantage, 6 mana for a 3/4 body is something absolutely unplayable. While the effect is powerful, the weak body will keep it from seeing play. Unless you absolutely want to have as many copies as possible of a certain 5+ mana spell and it’s so good that you’re willing to play a 6 mana 3/4 to get it… But I can’t really think of spells like that right now. Like, just compare it to the new Shaman card – Storm Chaser. While the effect is slightly worse (draw vs discover), paying 2 more mana for it seems a bit ridiculous.

Right now it looks bad, but I wouldn’t completely dismiss it. The fact that some of the classes have so little 5+ mana spells and can get the ones they want very consistently means that it might be useful at one point, in some deck.

Card rating: 3/10, but possibly better if you want to look for a specific 5+ mana spell

    right no druid alomost played all of its post 5 cards, just another example. paladin as well runs viable options that most def would be preferred in a situtioanll setting

    excuse me this card is amazing. DECK right now very combo oriented and focus late game cards, the thing about it being for just is class is what makes it good!. For instance lock runs about 4 cards aftrer 5 mana, the options of whether tio bring a twisted nether , siphon soul is usually a desired part of aany non zoo but twisted nether can be substitute most def, the thing of it is, if used situation depending on what you needm, the card can be super helpful as the intented discover will empompass 3 of the 4 cards to choose from (for example) priest is another example, late game class cards are very use for in a lot of decks. just try using it in a control or combo deck, and make sure you look to see what to expect

    Even Shaman is using this card a lot. this because Shaman only have 5 spells with 5+ mana, two of which are Bloodlust and The Storm Bringer so the possibility to get one of those two spells is super high (and both are odd spells that the deck can’t use any other way.. except much less consistently with Hagatha). Both are extremely powerful in this deck since it is very easy to use any of those spells on at least 4 minions. I’ve used the storm bringer 3 times now (i don’t play that much) and every time it’s been a game winning play getting at least 2 great minions like King Krush and Nozdormu to give examples. I know the meta hasn’t settled yet, but at least in Even Shaman, this card is definitely a keep (even if you are very unlucky and the discover gives you the other 3 choices, you can choose Volcano to get a reset if you got behind on the board.

    Looking at the standard pool of 5 or more cost spells:
    Mage has 7
    Hunter has 4
    Paladin has 10
    Warrior has 7
    Shaman has 4
    Warlock has 4
    Priest has 11
    Druid has 8
    Rogue has 6

    I’d say Warlock has the best options, as at least 1 option will be Twisting Nether or Siphon Soul for unit removal, and the other 2 still deal damage as well.

    Rogue is interesting as it has 2 unit destructions in Assassinate and Spellstone, Myra’s Element and Sprint for card draw, and Vanish to clear board, could make it useful in a combo deck.

    The other classes may give you good spells, but won’t be as consistent due to the options available or number of options unless you built your deck around the possible spells you could get.

    I’ll probably try this in Malygos Rogue for extra Vanishes, or failing getting them, minion removal or card draw. The double deathrattle spell as well works with the kobold illusionist and maly combo too, so actually I’d guess this will see most play in Rogue decks despite having 6 choices compared to the more consistent 4 card choices of Hunter, Warlock and Shaman.

    Though Warlock is close second I don’t think most Warlock decks will need this anyway so maybe Hunter would be good for the double removal options or Spellstone, and To My Side should probably never be picked.

      in the which planet warlock and rouge have better +5 spell better than priest?

      light bomb
      dragon fire potion
      entomb
      spellstone diamond and more
      and u say twisted and siphon are better than these?
      i play warlock alot siphon is a super slow card and not enough good at all cuz spell stone is so much better than that.

        Wow your dumb. He is saying cost warlock only has 4 cards in the pool, you pretty much are given the card you want (75%). Whereas in priest you have 27% chance to get what you want.

    Incorporating interesting effects from the taverns of time event, I like it! This card is highly dependant on the pool of expensive spells available to each class, and of course it will only be played in Control archetypes that can justify the tempo loss of playing this card. Maybe Big Spell Mage can run fewer spells and include this card instead, and we see a more tempo-based big spell mage. That’s just an example. I will definitely experiment with the card and see if it provides enough value. 2.5/5 stars

      It might do just that. But considering it is not reliable and its incredibly poor stats that don’t offer much tempo at all it probably isn’t worth it. I play wild even shaman and this on turn 6 is SO MUCH worse than Aya. In standard you don’t have Aya but my point still stands: Turn 6 is an important turn for even shaman to waste a slot on this card.

          Or I just don’t understand the game well enough to be suggesting stuff and correcting people. This is going to get you bloodlust very often isn’t it? Since it’s only shaman spells if I understand right? In that case it’s worth a try in standard, since it is a bit slower an possibly even in wild… I feel your pain

            no but if you think about it rough 65-75% of the itme you will be getting bloodlust
            I run it in even shaman, and let me tekll you you don’t need all those expensive costing ones, like I don’t understand why people run hagatha in an even shaman deck, poof no more totems, so dumb. Literally all of even shamans core structure is built around network damage, why would tka ethat away

    Arcane Dynamo is a six mana card with a three mana body that will draw a high value card. It’s probably not going to see that much play, but I am aware that Toki, Timetinker saw some play in Big Spell Mage, so something like this could also see play there.

    Other classes that might want to play this could be Druid decks that don’t play Master Oakheart since it could easily add a third copy of Nourish and Ultimate Infestation and maybe add an emergency Starfall, Shaman since Volcano would show up in almost every single discover pick, and Warlock since Twisting Nether only has a one in four chance of not showing up and if that isn’t there, Siphon Soul will.

    That is not to say this will see play at all, but cards like Ivory Knight, whose discover pool isn’t as good but came with up to eight healing, have seen some play in the past. This trades one attack and the healing for being neutral and always adding a high value card to the hand.

    This card seems reallllly bad. It is such a bad body, I don’t see how any constructed decks would want to play this, even Big Mage. Once you play it, you can’t even play the card you discovered on the same turn, which means it doesn’t help you out the turn you play it, and the stats would put you behind!

    Its another volcano in shaman. Not that they need it. Any hand deck can utilize something like this, there are mages that run Mountain Giants, and this is a tech that could help. Maybe in hand Druid or control priest or even control warrior? It has potential, just not on its own. Decent support if heavier decks become the norm (tech against biology project isn’t the worst idea).

    Possibly good in arena and maybe okay in Quest Mage as another way to proc the quest. The body is reallllyyyy bad though.

      Quest isn’t even good anymore. Simulacrum and the 4 mana elemental let you otk without the quest. Antonidas, 1 apprentice plus 2 0 mana apprentices plus molten reflection is an otk. Its a hand mechanic and tech against biology project at best. Decent in arena.

    This card would have to be a 4 mana 3/3 to be decent and even then it would only work on big spell mage probably.. not looking forward to opening any of these from the packs.

    You need to be in top-deck mode for this to give you any value, and then you aren’t going to get the spell you need.

    This was meant for Big Spell Control Mage. Not sure of its viability just looking at it but I will definitely experiment day one.

    6 3/4 Mana seems little too much for effect like this.

    This card won’t see any play seeing that cards like Jeweled Scalar and Kabal Courier struggled in meta with weaker plays, less OTKs and better stats.

    well, discover cards are good in arena, and if it ensures you to get a high value spell, i think it will be OK in control decks, in constructed not so much.
    2/5 constructed.
    3.5/5 arena.

    Is that reiable enught to draw some kind of specific card? like ultimate infestation? warlock can draw a removal for sure? does not look grate, but can surprise.
