Blizzard has just announced the new Battlegrounds season. It will release on January 17 and drop with a ton of new features, including 32 minions. Among those, we’ll have 17 Undead and 11 Dual-Type minions. Undeads will mostly synergize with Reborn & Deathrattles, while Dual-Types will synergize with two different minion tribes.
All of the new Battlegrounds cards will be revealed today & tomorrow (January 10 & 11). Find all of the currently revealed cards below:

Other Minion Reveals
Titus Rivendare replaced Baron Rivendare. The cards are very similar, but the new one is a bit stronger (two copies of Titus will trigger Deathrattles three times, while two copies of Baron would only trigger twice).
Professor Putricide Deep Dive
Putricide is the new Battlegrounds Hero and Kripp takes a detailed look at him in this video:
Balance Changes
Quests are gone! Just like with other mechanics (like Darkmoon Prizes or Buddies) they might come back later, but they will be gone for now.
Removed Minions
(There are 16 minions on the image but Mechano-Tank and Whitemane are already removed from the game, so that leaves 14 minions getting removed).
Returning Minions:
Minion Changes:
- Amber Guardian will now give two Dragons +2/+2 and Divine Shield instead of one Dragon +4/+4 and Divine Shield. The card was almost useless in the Golden form before and it gets fixed.
- Peggy Brittlebone would be an Undead/Pirate in her current form (based on artwork), but they don’t want her to appear in Undead lobbies without Pirates. That’s why they change the card to Peggy Sturdybone, which is only a Pirate.
Hero Changes
- Galewing got his Hero Power reworked. Not only the paths are different, but you can’t pick the same one two times in a row – if you pick one, only the two others will be available.
- Millificent Manastorm will give each summoned Mechs +2 attack instead of having a permanent +1/+1 on Mechs in the Tavern. Overall it’s a buff, because +2 Attack will now also apply to Mechs you summon during combat.
- Jaraxxus now fits with the current Demon theme of consuming other minions in the Tavern instead of giving a board-wide buff to your Demons. The Hero Power is probably a bit harder to snowball with in the early/mid game, but it has a higher late game potential (with bigger minions in the tavern + you being able to pick which Demon gets the buff). The card will also be more difficult to play, so it might drop down in low MMR (where it was historically strong).
- Pyramad is getting a small nerf – Hero Power will start at +1 Health instead of +2 Health. Before introduction of Quests, he used to be one of the strongest Heroes and they wanted to nerf him pre-emptively.
I don’t get it… why is Kripparian going through all these Undead that aren’t real cards? Or did I missunderstand what he said in his intro?
They aren’t purchasable in the shop but they can appear when using Putricide’s hero power
You’re correct about those Undead not being a part of the Battlegrounds taverns, you won’t see them in the game normally. However, in order to make Putricide’s pool of minions bigger and more interesting, you will be able to get them through his Hero Power.
Thank you both for clarifying!
