While it shouldn’t come as a surprise, because it was already confirmed by Iksar 2 weeks ago, we now know WHEN it will happen. According to the tweet from official Hearthstone page, it will happen next week – every player will be reset back to 0 MMR. More details are coming soon, so we will keep you posted!

So, BG ranking is actually the players’ MMR?
That might be a dumb question, but I always thought that my rank is that (for personal orientation) and my MMR is some dubious hidden score that decides against which players I’m paired.
Like on the ladder, where Diamond 2 might be my rank, but not my MMR, right!?
Yes. Right now, your BG rating = your MMR. You’re matched based on your rating, so if you’re at 6k, you will play against people who are also roughly at 6k. And yes, on ladder you only see your rank (or Legend position) and your actual MMR is hidden.
But according to Iksar’s reddit post (linked at the beginning), after the reset it will work more like ladder and the “visible” rating will be separate from “hidden” MMR. We’ll learn more next week 🙂
Neat. I’m fluxxing between 6k-7k, so I wonder what opponents will be like.
